We had some friends over and were looking to order some Indian food, but the only thing was the offerings had to be mostly vegan. A quick search led us to Maurya Indian Twist, which I hadn't heard of but seemed promising. We ordered two vegan dishes, the Aloo Gobi Curry and the Eggplant Potato Curry, and one meat dish, the Lamb Korma, as well as a few Veggie Samosas. It's decent Indian food. Each dish was cooked with a fair amount of care, and the portion sizes were right on point. They also all contained a good amount of their various components, and the lamb in that dish was very tender and tasty. I will say, though, that it wasn't exactly the most flavorful Indian food I've ever eaten. I wouldn't go so far as to say the dishes were bland, but they definitely didn't have that vibrant, layered taste that the best Indian usually has. Still, everyone was happy with the food, and we hardly had any leftovers. And I think that's probably the highest compliment one can pay to a restaurant. read more

Food is alright but I've had better. I usually go to Punjabi by Nature in Oakville but since they were about to close I came here instead. The reviews on Google seemed pretty promising. Maurya was really easy to find late at night, it has two huge bright signs right off of Lakeshore. Parking was ample and there's two sides, on the left is their takeout building (they still have seating available) and on the right is their restaurant side. Same exact menu just different atmospheres. I like that their menu was easy and well organized, and they had a chart to where you could customize your dish's spice level. Pricing I found to be a little up there especially for the portion, there was an extra $2 charge for rice which I was like bruh, since at other places rice is typically included. I got chicken tikka masala over rice which came out to $20 after tax and it was the size of a Chipotle bowl. If I had ordered the chicken by itself it'd have come out to around $17 after tax. The portion of chicken was pretty solid in my opinion, nice large chunks of super soft breast meat. Rice was well portioned as well. The thing that threw me off a little was the curry itself, whenever I have tikka (paneer, lamb, chicken, etc.) it always comes in a smooth orange colored gravy, but this one was red and chunky with green bell peppers, little more on the savory side. It tasted more like butter chicken?? I'm not complaining because it was good and I ate the whole thing, just not what I was expecting. Maybe it's a regional thing because I know certain areas do their dishes a little bit differently. The lady at the register was really sweet and gave me a free small side of raita, which was GAS. Surprisingly one of the best raitas I've had lol. I ended up getting one kesar kulfi, and while expecting a popsicle as how it was advertised on the menu, I got this tiny 4oz portion for SEVEN DOLLARS. :| It was rock hard and I couldn't eat it with the wooden utensils they provided because it snapped on me. Flavor was good though. My experience was a solid 6/10. Not sure if I'd come back but wouldn't not recommend to people who are looking for a late night Indian spot. Probably don't order the kulfi though. read more

We have ordered from Maurya (Oakville) three times now and the food is always incredible. The portions are large, the cost is fair and the taste is truly perfection. Samosas, pakoras and chutmeys/pickle are almost a meal in themselves. We had: A mild 2/10 heat Chicken Saag A medium 6/10 heat Chicken Vindaloo An 8/10 heat Chicken Biryani. Oh and the Roti are the size of a small throw rug. I am now in a deliriously happy, food coma. read more

When first walking in was hit straight with an amazing aroma... could not wait to sit down and eat. Music was amazing and really got me in the mood to eat. Menu was vast with great options. After choosing what I wanted to eat and receiving the food i was blown away by the multitude of flavours. the food was great and we were given dessert on the house, service was great will be coming back. read more

When this first opened it was really good. Then it slowly went downhill. Dishes were water down, a traditionally green colour dish was water down with so much dairy that it looked yellow. Ordered yesterday and the roti was hard and dry. It was like a toasted flour tortilla. It's too bad that it has become this way since when they first opened it was really good. read more

Ordered through Door Dash with an option of roti wrap or rice. We went with roti. When we opened it they actually wrapped the curry in roti. The roti was so thick, layer upon layer with hardly any curry inside. There was about 4 tablespoons of curry with ten layers of roti. We ordered it medium and it was so tasteless. This was the worst Indian food I ever had, in fact worst food I ever got from a restaurant. Don't mis read the reviews. At least I can speak for the food I ordered.. You are seeing Paneer tikka masala in it's worst shape, no taste, in fact I ended up throwing it all, me threw up. The Biryani was made possibly 4-5 days ago, or vegetables which was smelling, Biryani was smelling too, with absolutely worst taste. Here is the fun part, when I called the restaurant back telling them the situation, asking when was Biryani made, Her answer was just 15 mins ago. Fairly new to the neighborhood and a welcome addition. I picked up and the folks working we're all friendly and helpful. I ordered half the menu for a big family dinner just before lockdown and it's too much to comment on but every dish delivered. It was my 1st time having the unleavened bread, it was good but I do prefer traditional naan which isn't an East Indus thing but it's just so much better for soaking up delicious sauce! read more

What a great restaurant to have in Bronte! Just tried Maurya and loved everything we had. Nice they can adjust the spice as we have varying taste buds within the family. I found the food horrible. I ordered the veg vindaloo and veg platter. Such a disappointment in both! Greasy and bitter after taste. The so-called vindaloo was dry and tasteless. Order said 2 pappadums but they literally took 1 and cut in half! I mean this stuff is cheap at stores, why not just give 2! The so-called masala fries were literally the same as Costco pack. No masala flavour! If I could rate it a zero I would. I won't be going back! I was looking forward to it after reading the 4.8 rating but who's rating this that hasn't experienced other places! read more
