I spotted the place on the go and were left surprised!!! Thanks yelp for good reviews that made us to go here. Everything we ordered happened to be our best south indian food in Canada. The menu is limited but they have mastered each dish on the menu. We started with rasam- yumm, just the right Indian spice level, grand flavours of sip with perfect sourness and thats how rassam is supposed to be. Hubby ordered chicken 65, it looked just like chicken fritters, but it bobbles my Hubby's mind. He want crazy for the taste. The best he had in a decade. The quantity was so much so he are some and packed rest for home so that he can start on the mains. Then I choose Podi dosa for my main and hubby ordered Mysore masala dosa, really the best sambhar we had in a long time. The dosas were decent size and crisp better was just rightfully done. We could not finish them even to half, so we packed those as well. And ate the rest for dinner next day. Everything was so so so good. Nom nom!!!

Southnspicy not only serves a host of South Indian delicacies including Idly, Dosas, Vada, and Uthamppam with Chutneys and traditional Sambar. They also serve non-vegetarian dishes (with #halal options) such as Chicken & Mutton thali, Chilli Chicken,Parotta, and my favourite Murthaba. I have finally found a place that serves a good Murthaba..For those who dont know Murthaba is mildly spiced veggies and beaten eggs spread on a porotta dough, folded and pan fried till golden crisp. Dont forget to try some amazing #madrasfiltercoffee to complement the delicious meal.

Mmmm.... what to love. Literally everything I ate. My friend and I shared the following dishes this weekend: Dosa in a cone: talk about epic presentation, this is one of them. I loved breaking off pieces of this plain dosa and dip it into sauces provided. For those who aren't familiar with Southern Indian food, a dosa is a crepe. A Yummy crepe. I also love the price point. At $8, the dosa was big! Chicken 65: reason my friend and I went during the weekend, because that's when it's available. There is a spicy kick to the chicken, and when squeezing in the lemon, the tangy taste complement with the spiciness. At $10, it was worth it!! Mango lassi: a must! This drink is delicious! Chicken biryani: my friend and I devoured this dish. The rice was heavenly, could use more of the chicken, and an egg that was hidden in the middle of the plate. $10. For all that. For dessert, we shared a bowl of keseri. It was warm, not overly sweet, and comforting. It that means anything to you. Comforting feel when tasting it. The service was friendly and prompt. You can actually watch them cook the food as the kitchen is open concept. It's a family owned restaurant that also does catering. The food is halal. And yummy. And cheap. What's not to love.

Focusing on southern Indian in the Tamil Nadu area which I heard is quite ratre, they specialize in dosas, masalas, podis, and so much more. They have meat and non-meat options, as well as halal. Really delicious and include dishes that are not too spicy which is good for my taste buds. Overall I would visit here and at least give it a try.

South N' Spicy is hands down one of the best southern Indian restaurants in GTA! Their dosa is super crispy and goes super well with the spicy chantey. The handmade pratha is super flaky inside, and crispy outside. Also, their chicken curry got some nice heat in it and very well seasoned. Sometimes I find Indian food a bit too strong for my Asian tastebuds, but for some reason I find most items in this restaurant incredibly delicious! Moreover, they have this $1.99 South Indian filter coffee (Kaapi) is amazingly delicious and you'll receive a wonderful drinking experience, you'll know when you order it! I am definitely not revisiting this restaurant often enough!

Me being a great lover of parotta, when I see a name board or menu that mentions parotta I get tempted to try it out so this one caught my attention as their name board says "Dosa Idly Parotta" never did I think twice. I immediately said my husband "we are getting dinner here " and the moment I entered the hotel my whole idea of an Indian restaurant at Canada changed with the aroma of flavourful Sambar all around the place ( I felt "At home") then we went ahead and ordered parotta and mutton curry for dinner(takeout) and also ordered Sambar vadai to have there. We just loved the Sambar vadai to the extent I asked for the chef and appreciated him good food needs appreciation. Just a token of happiness one can get I would love to try their other dishes one by one. They have limited menu , which makes them give more attention to the taste of the food I believe!

Really liked this place. They have excellent service and ambience. Coming to the food , we ordered ghee masala dosa, sambar vada idly and madras filter coffee. All the items were really good and very reasonably priced. I will be back for their ... I left it blank with a purpose and kept my words... So I came back and tried the goat dum biriyani and chicken thaaali. Both were amazing. Met the owner family and they are so welcoming. The taste of the items in the thali were as authentic as they could be.. the servers and their welcoming staff is very very commendable. Keep it up guys.

Tried this new South Indian restaurant today. Clean, spacious and nicely decorated. Loved the 2 seater booths. Staff was friendly and attentive. My husband had the Chicken Curry Thali. It had rice, buttery roti, crispy pappadum and a variety of sampling dishes (which I of course sampled... Every single one.. Lol). So much flavour. I had the Cheese Dosa. It had nice crisp edges and the perfect amount of cheese inside. The sambar and accompanying chutneys were yummy. I'm a bit of a dosa fiend, and this was by far the best sambar I've ever had. I also had a sweet lassi, which was nice and thick and creamy, as it's meant to be. Not watered down like some restaurants do it. We finished our meal with ginger milk tea (chai with ginger). If you've not had it before, it's definitely a must try. Will definitely be back!!

Another item that we noticed was missing at this location was the robot waiter, which we were hoping to see. Nevertheless, when we walked-in, we were pleasantly surprised to see how large the restaurant was, with ample room to walk around the food tables, and choose our items with ease. Also, it wasn't too busy in the restaurant itself, which allowed us to choose a table of our liking near the back. Once we had placed our order, we waited about 12-15 minutes for the food to arrive. We had settled on one thali, which contained butter chicken, along with a few other lentil curries. This thali was marvellous, as the food items tasted delicious, and were freshly-made. Also, there was an ample amount, which filled me up to the brim! We also ordered butter chicken on the side, with an order of plain naan. Once again, we were impressed with how delicious these items tasted; we ended up getting refills of the naan, as it was too hard to pass up! Service was also great, as we were brought our refills quickly upon ordering. All servers were pleasant, and always greeted us with a smile. Definitely a place we would return to in the future!

Anyhow, I only tried some vegetarian items and it was not bad. They are currently offering 20% off takeout as part of their grand opening. Prices are reasonable and place is pretty spacious with seating and limited parking spots. Lots of sweet and savoury options. Would like to go back to try their mango lassi and dosa. Their samosa was good, it's different from the other ones I've tried as they don't have the big chili flakes inside which I like but it's a bit oily. I like the sauces that come with it. Tea was good too. There's options for sweets that's not too sweet which is great.

Normally, a place that has a massive menu is a bit concerning to me…read moreas it often leads to not really excelling at anything, but that is not the case here in my experience. The reason behind the large menu is related to the aim of the restaurant, which is to showcase the various regional cuisines of India. As a result, don't expect the straightforward menu of: apps, entrees, deserts, etc... rather the menu is divided by cuisine. Aside from honouring tradition, they do offer a couple 'new' takes on some items. If you comb through a few reviews, and certainly the pics, you'll notice a must-order items is the roasted eggplant with pomegranate. It really is like nothing else I've had before and unforgettable in both taste and texture. My group also went with a famous lamb dish as well. I don't remember the name offhand, but it is incredibly soft, well seasoned and nicely spiced dish. We also went with orders of naan, veggie dishes and meat skewers. It's beautifully decorated inside and also has the advantage of being located in a heritage building in what was formerly an estate home nearly 150 years old. I loved all the curries but felt they weren't as flavourful as other restaurants I had in the past - but still very good. We actually had the takeout at a nearby park and there was no cutlery or napkins included so we had to make make-shift cutlery from the aluminum foil that was used to house the naan.
