A year later, no improvement. Staff indifferent to customers. They're busy and don't seem to care. 5 times I've been told "you're not in my section". It's been 20 minutes after finishing my lunch to get my check. Nice truck stop. Iffy service, good food. Came in for dinner on Sunday. After standing 3-5 minutes at the cashiers stand, one of the employees said it's seat yourself. "Written on a chalkboard in the corner in 3/4" lettering. Grabbed a seat, waited another 3-5 minutes and somebody dropped off a glass of water and said your waitress will be with you soon. Like most of the other reviews here on Yelp. Good food lousy service. The list of issues with service is long. The salad bar is fresh, while lacking any proteins is hardly worth the $9 they charge for soup and salad. Stopped in for fuel on the way from visiting family while out of town. Their lot is well light and super clean. The truck stop is bright and inviting. It is also very modern. Especially compared to the other Shoemaker's across the street. Which is apparently some part of a family rivalry. This one is partnered with Shell and the prices are very competitive! read more

Stopping for a bite to eat after I gassed up at the Shell station next door. This restaurant is attached to the Shell station and a Subway. The theme of the place is old car memorabilia, like gas station pumps, old signs, etc. The Shoemaker's Restaurant has a wide variety of stuff on their menu. It's a truck stop but they have everything that a Denny's would have -- They serve breakfast, lunch, dinner and desert all day long. They have a all-you-can-eat salad bar that's apparently really good, but it's only available during the day. We got here at about 9pm and it was empty. So we got some eggs and hash browns, and some bacon. It was pretty good. There was a random zamboni that was cleaning the restaurant while we were eating, but that didn't bother me too much. The convenience store next door is also pretty good. They have a lot of coffee selections and most were kept pretty hot. Good spot to stop on I-80! read more

With multiple visits to doctors and hospitals in Lincoln we always choose Shoemakers for our meals. The food is excellent but what really stands out is their customer service and wait staff! Our waitress has served us on multiple occasions and I even look forward to seeing her. She's the best medicine! Interesting place, on display are early 20th century vehicles, models and gas station signs, among other highway Tavel memorabilia. I vaguely remember seeing Texaco Fire Chief in my distant youth. The is a restaurant, Subway & store with drinks, the usual junk snacks, trucker stuff, books & gifts--nothing the wife would like. I ordered the veggie omelet without the potatoes; the veggies were peppers 8 onions-- a Denver omelet. I had room for apple pie it was okay. The pies are on display at the entrance so you can see if there is anything you want to try. I was there for an early lunch so it wasn't busy. read more

I guess that in eating here, it is all about the pie! The chocolate and coconut pie, that is. I stopped in here on a whim after getting gas and while heading out of Lincoln. Very nice employees, pretty homely type of atmosphere, and good food. There was a small flat screen television that, so I thought that this was kind of cool. The venue itself was clean, yet I didn't quite understand the bar setup toward the front of the restaurant. I waited to be seated yet after a few minutes, I figured that the both the hostess + server were in the kitchen area. It took a few minutes while at the table to finally have a server arrive. The meal was palatable. There are the entree assortments of spaghetti and steak plus your burger, yet I chose the BLT with fries. The BLT was pretty good with exception to the fact that it had too much mayo, yet I was hungry and didn't bother to mention this to the server. The friends were very plentiful- you make have to get a to-go order just for the fries! Finally, the pies. Ooooooh yeaaaaah! I don't know who bakes these pies, yet they are very rich in flavor and reasonably priced. I had a slice of chocolate pie out of a choice of three or four, and I wish that I would have just bought the entire pie rather than a slice. Keep in mind that I rarely purchase desserts. This pie was awesome. You'll have to pay your bill in the front by the sit down bar, which is fine. Altogether, this experience proved to be enjoyable. I've become a regular here. I stop here to fuel and shower. Lately I've been eating here and have been impressed with the food and service. Everyone is friendly and the food is cooked the way I like it. The inside of the truck stop is pretty cool. A lot of nostalgic things to see. Mostly gas station type stuff. We stopped in to eat since we were in the area. My guy got the country fried steak and didn't really say much. Looked good though. I opted for the fried chicken special. The chicken was cooked nicely, but it was way too salty. Sides were eh. I didn't finish my meal and took some to go, but when we got home, I made the chicken breast next day and it was still juicy and moist. read more

Could be a great truck stop.. Got to the truck stop around 5:30 pm, realized its more of a place where local drivers park their tractors and trailer 2 parking places left in this huge truck stop. Absolutely ridiculous.. there were 10 cars blocking spaces the other 75% of the spaces were dropped trailers and Bobtails. The waitress was super sweet. The chef has mad skill! I asked for medium rare but I regretted bc the steak was diner-quality and wasn't very fresh for medium rare, so I asked the steak to be cooked a little more. In most places, usually if you ask a medium rare steak to be recooked, it will come back well done or overly cooked. Not for this chef, the steak came back perfectly cooked with a hint of medium rare! Overall food quality is alright. Get the ribeye steak! Very well seasoned. read more

This was by far the nicest and best gas station I have ever been in. The Shell station blends into a mini-mall and restaurant complex with a restaurant, ice cream counter, a very large convenience store, a few historical vehicles on display, and for some reason a Subway. We actually ate dinner here because our time of arrival made prospects for dinner further down the road poor. The restaurant had a pretty good chicken fried steak and the biscuits were good too. Their ice cream is produced by the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's dairy store and was very good. I wouldn't say any individual element was five stars but considering this was a Shell station in the middle of Nebraska the total package is impressive. read more

Actually very nice! Large selection of snacks and drinks, nice restaurant which we managed to have a vegetarian meal at, and friendly people. Also there was no creepy vibe in here so that's good! Decor is very interesting. Lots of history here. Check out the 'old fashioned peppermint candy' boxes that are at the register. :) read more

The restrooms were clean & appeared kept up recently. Their convenience store has its own chrome shop area and another area full of must haves and have nots, kids toys or adults, depending on who is looking. The usual array of clothing and tourist items. There is also a deli area with unusual cold drinks, salads, meals that can be heated, as well as some healthy snack items. The cashier was greeting people as they came in, and was pleasant. It's looks like they have restocked with some new items, novelties, purses, and velour blankets. While they have a restaurant here. I have found the wait staff less than cheerful, not very enthusiastic about serving you & glad to see you leave. There is not a welcoming atmosphere at the restaurant & this makes me less likely to frequent the place. The food served is mediocre at best. Breakfast was a disappointment & I could have done better in the truck, with my limited facilities. read more

Excellent food. Grabbed take-out for a family of 8 on a cross country trip. Everyone wanted something a little different. Shoemakers fill out order in 15 minutes and everyone really enjoyed their food. You can't get much better satisfaction than that. I'm seriously hesitant to give the three stars that I did, but the wait staff was friendly and the facilities all appeared clean. A "please seat yourself" sign would have been nice rather than standing by the counter waiting for someone to tell you. Ordered the Corned Beef Hash...I was disgusted. It was seriously just nasty canned hash, it looked and smelled like dog food. I didn't have time to order a different plate so I ate the eggs and hash browns that were done perfectly. The toast was a dismal dissapointment as well. They "butter" it for you and only about 1/3 of my toast was covered in some vaguely butter flavored oil. If my husband didn't work near by and pick up a burger for lunch every now and then...he swears they're great... I would say never again. read more

The food was horrible. I had the chicken filets w/ mashed potatoes and peas- I asked them to hold the Swiss cheese on the filets and just put the gravy they use in the potatoes. Well I got the gravy and the cheese! I like cheese but not Swiss so that could have been the bad flavor but there was almost a sour taste to the chicken. And the roll smelt "dirty" idk how to explain other than maybe they put a dirty dish towel on top of the rolls. I didn't taste my hubs steak sandwich but it sure looked like he was really having to naw on every bit. One son got the Mac and cheese kids meal that just came with jello or fries- his Mac and cheese was like boxed Mac and was super dry. My other son got grilled cheese and fries... that wasn't bad- good fries and how do u mess up a grilled cheese lol The decor was all old school cars, airplanes and like old gas station memorabilia all my boys enjoyed looking at all of that! And our waitress was a wonderful woman who was on top of her game... sadly the only good thing I can say about the food was it was super fast! So if ur looking for a fast hot meal to fill your belly this could be your place- but to be honest- I'd hit up the subway in the truck stop over this restaurant any day! I used to live in Lincoln a few decades ago. The old Shoemaker's is still there on the north side of the road, but now there is a brand new facility on the south side of the road, at the NW 48th Street exit, mile marker 395. Easy on and off for Interstate 80; good place to fuel up and grab a soda for the road. Nice and clean, because it is new; covered gas pumps, clean rest rooms. This is one of my new favorites for when I travel West of Lincoln on I-80. read more

We stop at this has station to eat everytime we go to iowa. The service at the restaurant was horrible. The lady working was very rude. When we got there the lady that was working was to busy taking so we just sat down. She dropped off the check and never came back to check on us.
