The space has a really comfortable, positive vibe and you can tell they truly care about what they do and the people they work with. Such a cute studio! It is a great place for music and art! My friend and I came here for a sewing class and had such a great time! We appreciate the personalized attention from our instructor, Leann, and her willingness to teach us the skills we are interested in! It's been over 5 years since I've touched a sewing machine, but it is definitely making me want to invest in one! We started with this music group 5 years ago when they were at the Dollmaker location for my 5 year old son. We have taken lessons from 3 teachers and all of them are just terrific, patient and GOOD. Now my 7 year old daughter is taking lessons with them and she is so motivated to practice and look forward to go to the lessons. We love the opportunity that they also offer them the chance to perform at the recital. Feel so lucky that we are so close to such a talented group of musicians, instructors and artists! read more

I was very happy with my first three or four lessons at Max Lee Music and originally offered a five-star review UNTIL I learned that - mea culpa, I hadn't read the fine print clearly enough - they had the most onerous appointment. cancellation policy I've ever encountered. Other service providers and I always have some version of a reciprocal cancellation agreement - I cancel on X notice, I owe you for the service. You cancel on short notice, you owe me some free service. Fair, right? That's called parity. Not at Max Lee Music. Their policy translates to "we'll penalize you for cancelling on less than SEVEN days notice, but we won't owe you anything if WE cancel?" And guess who cancelled first? Right - them. Due to Covid, but that's no better or worse a reason than any other. Did they offer me ANYTHING in compensation, no? But when I cancelled on very reasonable notice (three days) - nope. So I'm giving them two stars because Tula Lee is a wonderful teacher - but Max Lee's business practices are why I'm voting with my wallet and taking my biz elsewhere. read more

I just started taking violin lessons from Max Lee, having never touched a violin before, its something I've wanted to do for a long time. Max Lee has some outstanding instructors and I feel very comfortable learning from them. This is just my 3rd week and I feel great that I'm exploring a sense of music within myself. First, I was to say that Max Lee Music studio is absolutely amazing hands down!!!! My son has been learning piano going on two year there and it's been the best experience since he started his first lesson. Ms. Tula is so patience with my son and she is truly a blessing, I am so we found her and Max Lee studio. Since the beginning they made us feel like family and we always felt so welcomed! Max Lee Music is the absolute BEST! It's such a wonderful family environment and everyone is so kind and patient. My son has been learning the drums for about a year now and he has grown so much. Max, Tula and Ian are so sweet and my son actually looks forward to his weekly lessons. We used to go to a different place and he absolutely hated having to go. They studio is really nice and comfortable and we are grateful for their flexibility and communication. I've been taking group ukulele lessons from Max for around four years, starting with when he was over at the Dollmakers' Kattywompus and now at the Myrtle & Olive Business Park. The newest location is the best, with several classes going on at once. The place is thriving and festive. As a teacher, Max is patient and perceptive. He somehow always knows if I have my finger on the wrong fret or if one of the strings is out of tune. His repertoire is vast, and he always has room for student requests. I like the group setting. My stepdaughter started taking remote guitar lessons from Max during lockdown and has been going in-person since they reopened and recently started learning the drums. We've had such a great experience that her dad signed up to learn guitar, too. Max is incredibly knowledgeable and patient. He is also willing to meet each student at their level - whether that's a 12 year old with a questionable attention span or a middle aged man who is eager to learn all his favorite rock songs. Max is a very good teacher. Very fun and patient with kids trying to learn a new instrument. He does a good job of teaching kids to read music, make music etc. He also, is nice enough to change it up every once and a while and allows me to play the drums. I always look forward to spending anywhere from 30min.-1hr playing music. I recommend you take lessons from him if interested in music. His mom also teaches Ukelele, violin etc and Max teaches piano, drums, guitar etc. They have some instruments for rent and purchase as well as music. read more

As an adult learner taking guitar lessons, I really appreciate Max's flexibility in giving lessons. We don't just work through a book, I can bring in songs to work on arrangements, or we can work on performance techniques.
