Left misc. cymbals on consignment in mid-December 2025. Have tried contacting owner Dan? at the store, left several messages. In February 2026, when I finally got to speak with him, I asked about the sale of my equipment. He offered to pay via PAY PAL..I said would prefer cash. " NO CASH IS KEPT IN STORE" , but he would go to bank to get check issued. As of the end of March, there is still no payment to me for the sale of my cymbals. Have contacted Better Business Bureau, they also unsuccessful in any response. I am really sorry that I left my cymbals at this store and would not give any recommendations as to doing business there. Very poor business management! read more

Dan spent a great amount of time helping me with a drum purchase. He (and Evan!) were a big part of the reason I decided to buy a kit. Can tell these guys know their stuff by the curation of their gear and what they choose to stock. No fluffy meh stuff. Just pure quality gear for new and experienced percussionists. Super nice custom DW, Pork pie and also really amazing quality Gretsch, PDP, pearl, tamburo stuff. I've owned some high end Kits from DW and Yamaha, and honestly, it's an amazing time to be a new drummer. They had a black sparkle PDP concept maple that just sounded incredible. Of course a solid set of heads and sticks. Picked up some coated powerstrokes on site and was nice not to have to put in a special order. Their hidden jewel is probably their practice gear and drumline/percussion gear. Some of the latest stuff from RTOM, quiet cymbal stuff, etc. They also have mallets, corpsmasters.... And stick tape! IYKYK... even saw a few marching snares and quads (and practice pad quads?!) you love to see it. I've visited a few times to browse before making a purchase and the staff was always super friendly. never pushy. They're also dope drummers. A lot of former drum corps guys that now teach the next generation at some of the great programs in the area! Please support these guys! Finally a place that sells gongs, and xylaphones etc. If you love drums they definitely have a lot of types of sticks etc. this place is somewhat hidden in a little industrial turn in near the front. Pricing was a little steep on mallets, but i understand overhead. Same goes with a few other items, but if you want some type of special quality theyve got you covered. The service here is fantastic! From phone call to purchase Jason assisted me well without any hesitation to any of my questions. This place has only been open for 2 years but they have their main location out in texas (hence the name) that's been open a lot longer and I'm hoping they stay open at this location too. My band mate and I are still trying to find the right sound and I just knew I needed to go to a place where I could try everything out to hear it. They had all the instruments I needed and was looking for here I was so ecstatic. It's a very small place at the moment but packed with stuff and they're currently in the process of expanding. While I was talking to Jason further he mentioned that they were planning on having studio classes here as well for teaching, which is awesome of them. Awesome find!! A store that specializes in only percussion in north OC! Took my two Ludwig snares in for new heads and tuning since I couldn't get them to sound right after hours of trying. Matt and team came to the rescue by asking what kind of sound I was looking for, picking a head to match, and tuning them to perfection. Couldn't have asked for better customer service; 5 star rating purely based on the service I received and the genuine interested the crew had in helping me achieve the sound I was after. While they were working I took a look around the showroom and couldn't believe the expansive selection they had of drums, cymbals, percussion, and gear. I am not in the habit of doing this but I just wanted folks to know how pleased I was with my experience at this store. I was not even aware that a real drum and percussion store was in the Orange County area. I happened to discover it looking for some place with a "cymbal room" where I could go and listen to cymbals. The reviews were excellent and so I decided to give it a try and see for myself. Almost from the moment I walked in, I was treated not only with courtesy but like an old friend. I'm pretty picky about cymbals and had dismissed the idea of buying a "cymbal pack". Jason Morton and Matt Kjorvestad, encouraged me to give em a try. They spent quite a bit time and attention with me setting them up on a drum kit (and many other cymbals) and trying different combinations. I played, and then they played at my request, so I could hear them away from the drums. I could go on but needless to say I wound up buying the Zildjian pack. My overall experience was REALLY good and they have won not only a customer but a cheerleader! I've already told other musicians about this store. So glad to have found Lone star percussion. Great not to have to drive to North Hollywood. read more

THANKS) tuned my snare up, got new snare wires on it, and had it sounding better than I ever had before. service was all free. amazing selection of kits, sticks, hardware, cymbals, cajons, everything you could need if you're a percussionist. Lone Star is now out of business, but for me, it happened at a bad time. We ordered over $1500.00 worth of equipment from them in May, and received half of it by the second week of June, but the rest we never received. They sent us an invoice and we promptly paid it. They said we would not have gotten that invoice if it had not been shipped. Well, we never got the second half of equipment...over $700.00 worth. Well, I contacted them in September and they said everything was backordered. They said it would now be November that it should arrive. Well, all the while, their website continued to say that the items on backorder would be back in stock soon. I contacted them through email in November after checking their website. A week later they contacted me back saying they were going through "restructuring" and that all invoices were closed. Well, Mine wasn't. We paid for this because they sent us an invoice. They said... sorry. Well, I find it very suspicious that they said it would arrive in November and then when I call in November after looking at the site, the very next week, they contact me and say they are restructuring, that all invoices are closed, and they are sorry... and I go to check their website..... DOWN! I wouldn't order underwear from this company or any company that is affiliated with them. I have been contacting them over and over and getting nowhere. Oh, I hear they are now called California Drums in Monronia, CA. I ALSO saw a posting on either their Facebook page or Instagram or something... someone else was out about $9300.00 of equipment. I went back to check that posting and it was gone. I assume they removed it from their site to hide their incompetence and possible crookedness. I would be happy to come back and change my review due to the situation getting corrected, but I am afraid we have been taken for over $700 and they couldn't care less to fix the situation. read more

The guys jumped on the project with enthusiasm. Not only did I learn a lot but also had a great time laughing and chatting with the staff. They even stayed a few minutes past closing to make sure the job was done right. I literally may have the best sounding drum kit in the US right now!!!! From the second you walk in, you're greeted with a warm welcome from the staff. They have such a good knowledge of drums, it's unbelievable. A huge plus for me was seeing that this is the only drum shop around me that had a huge collection of Meinl Cymbals, which aren't too common in some of the bigger chain stores. Everyone there hooked me up with a killer Meinl Byzance Dual Crash cymbal that I'm beyond happy with. Left the store feeling inspired and excited! Overall, you have to check this shop out! I went to Lone Star with a problem on the throw on my Rogers snare drum. Andy of Lone Star was awesome. He examined the throw and repaired it as I watched. He also added some lubricant. The throw now works as it should. He did not charge me for the repair. I purchased a new Evans Genera head for the snare drum. Matt asked if I wanted him to install it. I said sure and he put it on and tuned it. He even adjusted the snare and put a little lubricant on the tension rods. My snare sounds better than ever. Andy gave me a tour of the store and they have the best selection of drums I have seen. If you are a drummer do yourself a favor see Andy and Matt at Lone Star Percussion. read more

Stephanie identified that the snare release was actually missing an entire butt-plate to hold the cords in place.
