We were looking for another piano teacher after our beginning piano course ended, and found 88 Keys. I called and they were responsive, and we were promptly scheduled a trial lesson with Ms. Jen. They offered both group and private lessons, and we decided to sign up for the private lesson instead. We needed to wait for a group of students to meet at the same time in order for them to host a group piano class. I liked how they made recommendations based on the child's age and experience. Lessons are paid by the month, and for private piano lessons it is currently $144 a month for 30 minutes once a week. The place is located on the third floor of the Huntington Plaza, and it was very calming and clean on our first day here. They have a waiting area by the main office and there are more seats inside. The restroom is pretty clean too. Parents are welcome to sit in on the lessons if they want. Each room is sound proof, and they also teach other instruments as well. They follow a lesson book, and Ms. Jen provided guidance on what our daughter can practice through the week. She is very patient, accommodating, and our daughter looks forward to coming to piano class! Ms. Jen also speaks Mandarin too, and our kid was comfortable learning from her. The teachers work with your child to choose a preferred song/s at their comfort level. They are great at preparing them for the recitals and it's such a delight to see all the children showcase their talents. Though my daughter has been through a couple of teacher changes over the years - just due to people's life changes and our scheduling needs - we are happy with all of them. Her current teacher, Hannah, is phenomenal. She gives the right challenge but is also caring. We're so happy with this company that I signed up my younger daughter for piano lessons here too. Like the other review states, the new location benefits greatly from the modern decor and views, giving it a nice and inviting feel. I feel it may be important to mention that the academy is located on the 3rd floor as I believe the other reviews fail to do so. The entrance should be immediately visible to the left when you exit the elevator. If memory serves correctly, the same should be true for the stairs. My impression is that 88 Keys is a fantastic source of high quality yet diverse instructors. One notable difference setting 88 Keys apart from other music academies is the effort put into finding the right fit/teaching style for each student. Listening outside the door, I was very impressed with Ms. Emily's patience and teaching style, specifically in how she was able to communicate and complement her student's needs. In this instance, it was teaching a frustrated/impatient young musician how to count. I suspect 88 Keys tends to attract better teachers and consequently produces higher caliber students consistently because they don't merely tell students about music but speak to them as people. What I witnessed was not merely a lesson in counting but also a demonstration of what persistence and dedication can bring to a young individual, and for that you can color me impressed. read more
