I rarely leave negative reviews, but I feel other parents deserve to be aware of our experience…read morewith the Lititz Recreation Center's ASK and Summer Camp programs. My son has high functioning autism.I have never expected him to receive special treatment or to avoid consequences when he makes mistakes. My concern has always been that he be treated fairly, consistently, and with the understanding required of any child with a documented disability. Instead, I experienced poor communication, inconsistent expectations, and a lack of meaningful collaboration despite my repeated efforts to work with staff. I documented my concerns through email and made every effort to partner with the program to help my son succeed, but I was ultimately left feeling that he was viewed as a problem rather than a child who needed support. I want to be clear that this review is not directed at the few teachers, that showed him kindness and support. My concerns are specifically with how the recreation program handled the situation. Every family's experience may be different, but ours was disappointing enough that I cannot recommend this program to families of children who may need patience, consistency, and a willingness to work together After exhausting my attempts to resolve the situation directly with the program, I filed a complaint with the U.S. Department of Justice because I believed the issues warranted further review

Monday through Friday, there are a variety of water aerobic classes to choose among. Some classes focus on stretches and balance, while others are more fast paced (you are always encouraged to work at your on pace). There's lots of splashing, jumping, singing, marching... believe me, 45 minutes goes by FAST! These instructors Seriously pump you up and encourage you to do your best. The water is warm, most days or at least, once you get going, it becomes warm. I find the locker rooms in being clean and tidy. In the mornings, upon entering Lititz Rec; I'm always warmly greeted and in the pool area, many folks are seen, happily chatting, marching, preparing for the class and when they see you coming, folks wave and smile.
