He's very open minded, which is refreshing in an otherwise dogmatic sport. His wife, Kayla, teaches women's only BJJ class that my wife attends. She's also a great teacher and is very competent. The fact that this gym offers a women's only class is a major plus. If you are a woman and interested in trying BJJ, the women's only class is perfect. All the guys I met in the classes were super friendly and welcoming. The monthly rates are great. 24 hour access is great.

I had nothing but great things to say about them when I had joined a couple of months ago but unfortunately did not complete the program because I obtained a directors position and couldn't make the 8 AM workout sessions twice a week. Principles like: breath work, root, striking, flexibility, blocking, & holds. Mind you I am not looking for a fight. But, SHOCK AND LOCK. Am I right? As a student I felt respected. As a student I felt appreciated. As a student I felt nurtured. That is what allowed me to grow. That is what made me keep coming back. This element of care I promise you won't find anywhere else. And it is the exact element of healing that is in the name and is what makes this house of martial arts special. This temple was a place where I could improve. Grand Master Wilson has developed a very holistic curriculum based around Hapkido. It's a very practical and effective system for real-world self defense. Best of all, Sleeping Lion has age-appropriate classes for everyone. My kids are in the youth program and are learning so much and having a great time. I've seen their skills develop and their self confidence has skyrocketed! Sensei Nina Wilson runs the youth programs and she is excellent! The adult classes are amazing. Both Master Nelson and Grand Master Wilson are superb instructors. They are very good at paying attention to the strengths and weaknesses of their students and working with each of them to achieve their goals. Both weapons and empty hand classes are interesting and jam-packed with useful teaching.

They sent home the sweetest little craft for Father's Day and seem to genuinely care for the little ones. He is in the Toddler "transition" room with other 11 - 18 mo olds who are beginning / able to walk but not confident independent walkers. The school continues to be accommodating of my vegetarian children and I am grateful that it's a nut free school because my daughter (in the class) has peanut and tree nut allergies. She has been attending this school, on and off, since late 2023 and loves it. There has been some staff turnover (which is not unusual for daycares) but many long term staff remain and are wonderful to her, as are her new teachers. As a working parent I love the live feed, which I can watch between meetings, and the daily updates with photos. It really helps with the separation. Joanna is still the Director and remains a wealth of knowledge. She continues to support our family by accommodating our schedule (we mostly attend school from May - Sept).

We didn't have our 2025 cards as this is our 2nd home. She said I'll let you in this one time, which I understand. I tried making small talk and she just ignored me. I felt so uncomfortable, even though I pay for it. She didn't even say bye, there was no one else there. She just watched tv.
