The main attraction really is the mansion so just buy a $18 pass which gives you access to the mansion tour as well as the outside grounds (which is what the $5 pass gives you access to). As for as museum goes, the subject material isn't that interesting: it's about a random wealthy family. Imagine a 100 years into the future we have a museum about a random millionaire. Our tour guide, Marco, was fantastic and great at answering questions for our little group of 4. The mansion really is just a showcase of how a wealthy person's home from the early 1900's. You get a glimpse into their business and personal lives as well as the type of furniture employed in the household. The tour was interactive and nice. The self guided tour is just literally walking around the mansion so there isn't too much to see but it makes for a nice, short walk. Overall, I think that there are more interesting museums out there. But if you're looking for a super quiet museum to browse, this would be the place.

This is a cool place where you can see structures left by Native people (prehistoric culture…read moreSinagua) although there are also artifacts from the Archaic peoples before them who did not reside permanently in the canyon. There is a visitor center and two trails here. The Rim trail at a pretty even 0.75 miles is great for people who want a stroll that follows the canyon rim (out and back trail). You can see the structures from the rim, but it's even better with binoculars. The Island trail is slightly longer at 1 mi, but a steeper 185 vertical feet into the canyon with a whole bunch of stairs at the beginning, and returns the same way. I guess people get too tired to climb back up since there are numerous signs warning of the steep climb back. The trail begins at the back door exit of the visitor center, which they close at 4 pm (the entire monument closes at 5 pm, so they don't want anyone to start the trail and get locked in). Both trails were great and they had informational signs along the way. I really liked the Island trail since you get up close and personal with the structures. The visitor center was standard - offering a gift shop, bathrooms outside, and information about the history and significance of the area. The ranger staffing the information desk was pretty patient with the group of tourists and determining if they were fit to do the Island trail. It's a totally different vibe from the Grand Canyon, so don't expect huge views.

But for the price Flagstaff charges to use the Aquaplex, it is a wonderful place. There are exercise classes that are run by great teachers. Really feel welcome and all levels seem to enjoy. I do not use the childcare but I do see that it is a great option for parents to have their kids in a safe place and get quality care for their children. I don't know what it cost (I'm sure you can call the Aquaplex and find out the cost) but there are a lot of people that use this service that it usually full when I'm in the place. I think it's great to have the kids in an exercise environment running around and swimming rather than have them looking at a screen. The staff are always friendly and knowledgeable. I find them a real pleasure to interact with. I have been able to ask questions and the staff and managers are quick to help. Parking is abundant and easy to get in and out of the Aquaplex. During the warmer months, you can view digs in process. We love coming here with our dogs because there are many trails that go off into the forest from the historical site. There's a couple of benches and tree stumps where you can sit and have lunch, but all in all it's a nice area with a good amount of parking, and an interesting heritage site.

Prices have increased substantially in my opinion, but there is plenty of space so you could split the costs if you have to join you. They have Peak and Off-peak rates.... It's only for military and families (active, reserve, retired, etc). They also have smaller studio cabins, a larger cabin that fits up to 12 and some pet friendly units. The grounds are beautiful...for the outdoor enthusiasts, hiking, skiing (seasonal) nearby.... Staff was friendly, large fireplace in the lobby, along with a small convenience area where you can get snacks, beer, coffee and more. Great place to relax and enjoy the outdoors!

Located near the university, this park is really more of an "educational" destination up front, with a few picnic tables, a lizard garden, a butterfly garden, a pond, etc. But it's also a trailhead for a trail that you can take as long as you like. We went on a Monday afternoon, and there were cyclists, joggers, people with dogs.... It wasn't crowded, necessarily, but it seems to be popular with the locals. It's nice and flat, too. We did about a three mile out & back with our dogs, and it was just right! And of course we treated our canine companions to a treat at the Dog Haus afterward! (Not in the park!)

It also has a track, racquetball courts, a basketball court, etc. Perhaps the most notable feature is the climbing wall which is something I see rarely in gyms like these. In all, its a decent gym and the prices for alumni and the public are good enough to warrant a membership. Students are automatically members since they pay a Recreation fee along with their tuition. Overall, it is a pretty decent gym.
