The instructor kept us pushing just the right amount -- challenging but totally doable -- and we got a lot done in that hour. The energy in the room was focused, calm, and motivating. If you're consistent in attending the classes, you get the most benefit because the classes throughout the week are prepared with a whole-body workout in mind, in other words if you do the Monday class, you do lower body and core, Wednesday is upper body, and Fridays is a sweat class that combines Monday and Wednesdays classes plus a little something - something cardio to really complete the week! There are lots of classes at lots of different hours, and in addition to the lower, upper, and sweat classes, there are lots of other options to do on your other days. Try the Ride/spin class, the Tri-Ride, Boot Camp, or the Lift Lite for those perhaps who don't have as much mobility yet. Lift is non-judgmental and all-welcoming. There are sweet and thoughtful details that make it feel cozy, unique and memorable. Class was intelligently sequenced with just the right pace and challenge with modifications offered for total beginners. It was the perfect start for our morning! It's definitely a place we'll go back to next time we're in town again. Vero Beach is very lucky to have a studio and wellness center like this that offers a good variety of mindful practices aside from yoga.

One of my favorite Treasure Coast beach towns is Vero Beach. It is halfway from where I live and…read morewhere my daughter lives so sometimes we meet there like we did recently for Mother's Day. The first pioneers arrived in Vero Beach in the 1880's. One of the most notable early pioneers was Henry T. Gifford who operated a citrus grove business and established Vero's first mercantile store which also served as the post office, express office and railroad ticket office. Legend has it that it was Henry's wife Sarah who suggested the new settlement should be named Vero from the Latin word, to speak the truth. In 1893 the Jacksonville, St. Augustine and Indian River Railroad tracks reached the Vero settlement bringing commerce and new settlers. In 1919, the City of Vero was incorporated and in 1925, a number of Vero's citizens successfully lobbied in Tallahassee for the creation of the new Indian River County. Vero was designated the county seat and was re-incorporated and re-named Vero Beach. Vero Beach experience growth during Florida's land boom years in the 1920's and during World War II the United States Military established a Naval Air station north-west of the original town and performed many training exercises off the coast. Today many people flock to Vero Beach for the pristine coastline for recreation and rest. The soft, sandy shores stretch for miles beckoning swimmers, fishermen, water sports enthusiasts, and sun bathers. Beyond the beaches is a vibrant cultural scene with festivals, concerts, and museums. The Vero Beach Art Museum is a favorite stop for those who enjoy art and cultural exhibitions while history buffs will enjoy the McLarty Treasure Museum. I especially love visiting McKee Botanical Garden which was created from 80 acres of tropical hammock purchased by Vero Beach pioneer Waldo Sexton and Arthur G. McKee. Listen when I say if you know what is good and I had what is good and I lived in the west palm and Stuart/PSL area then it is good. I would love to have a thirst turtle for their wings. But at this moment that is not happening. But I found good pizza, good Thai, great Mexican, good Japanese, and I haven't even touched the surface. If you see my reviews i usually don't review chain restaurants or fast food unsless Karen is hating on burger king or Taco Bell which is to me what do you expect from these places. I love mom and pop places and I hope they are awesome

Indrio Savannahs Preserve is a 297 acre natural area that was purchased to protect the savannahs…read morewetland system. It was originally supposed to be a subdivision but plants have grown over the grid of what was once roads. In the preserve you will find 35 acre Lake Indrio, created out of a former Stewart Sand Mine. Fishing in the lake is catch and release. There are three miles of trails throughout the preserve along with an observation tower and fishing pier. Habitats include a freshwater wetland system that was formed west of the Atlantic Coastal Ridge. You can hike through pine flatwoods, scrubby flatwoods, and scrub and depression marsh. Commonly seen wildlife here includes osprey, heron, ibis, egret, spoonbill, sandhill crane, and the protected Florida Scrub Jay. The site is a part of the Great Florida Birding Trail, one of the longest running programs of the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. It consists of more than 500 wildlife viewing sites across the state. A restoration project was recently completed in the preserve to reconnect the historic marsh system and restore the freshwater marsh habitat inside the preserve. Boardwalks were then constructed to allow hikers to connect through the Indrio Savannahs trail system. Indrio Savannahs Preserve is a hidden nature gem on the Treasure Coast. It offers a peaceful retreat away from developed areas providing the ideal natural spot for birdwatchers, bikers, and hikers who want to get away from the urban sprawl. The preserve is open sunrise to sunset. Leashed dogs and bikes are allowed.

It's a peaceful haven in the city, very lightly trafficked; in fact, I saw only two other hikers. I would give it five stars except there are no restrooms and a lot of the trail has been uprooted, seemingly from four-wheelers. I don't mind muddy trails but they had a bit too many ruts and grooves. There are benches to stop and rest but bring plenty of water as much of the trails are exposed to the sun!

Behind the Sebastian Government Complex in Friendship Park is the entrance to the North Sebastian…read moreConservation Area. This natural area was purchased between 1996 and 1999 for the purpose of preserving and restoring scrub and wetland habitats for the benefit of rare and endangered species. This land is managed by Indian River County and it protects over 400 acres of land, including endangered scrub ecosystems. There is another entrance to the preserve off Main St. just west of Gibson St. for equestrian riders. The North Sebastian Conservation Area has 10 miles of trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding through a diverse range of habitats that include sand pine and oak scrub, scrubby and wet flatwoods, freshwater marsh, wet prairie, upland hardwoods, ponds and lakes. At the equestrian entrance you can hike the Jays Walk, which takes you down abandoned subdivision roads, home of the endangered Florida Scrub-Jays and Gopher Tortoises. At the Friendship Park entrance there are boardwalks and lake crossings on the trail. The Little Loop trail has a fresh water depression frequented by Tricolored Herons and other wading birds. On the Powerline Road Trail ducks, Wood Storks, Sandhill Cranes and Roseate Spoonbills, Bald Eagles, and Ospreys have been spotted. This preserve is part of the Great Florida Birding Trail and while providing a haven to wildlife it also protects species of scrub-adapted plants. The longer perimeter trails are more suited to cyclists. I was able to walk from both entrances but it is still very hot out as we enter into mid September. I recommend visiting on a cooler day and bringing water and sunscreen. The scrub areas are in full sun. Restrooms are available in Friendship Park.

This is a beach access park on the north side of Hutchinson Island. It is across the street from…read moreQueen's Island Preserve, the site of an ancient fishing camp. I love the beaches on Hutchinson Island but the low rating is because there is no parking. Only locals can enjoy this unspoiled oasis. Possibly you can park at the Queen's Island Park Preserve across the street but it would be a hike with your beach stuff. There are signs prohibiting parking on the shoulder of the road. Another drawback to this beach are there no amenities but if you are looking for wide, white sandy beaches with few to no people, this beach is ideal. If you have a vehicle there a number of better beach parks just north with free and low cost parking, picnic pavilions, and restrooms. These include Avalon State Park with a $2 honor system parking and Round Island Beach Park with free parking and a playground. I am fine with leaving this beach to the locals and sea turtles.
