Being our first baby, we were extremely concerned about his issues with his passage way. Unfortunately, no medical professionals were diagnosing him. They were stumped. We finally got referred to Dr. Tylor, right around the time our son turned 10 months. At our first appointment, she walked into the treatment room and was able to diagnose him in 30 seconds by just looking at him. She was able to suggest a treatment plan going forward and didn't want to waste anytime. She happily answered about a million questions. Fast forward to his outpatient surgery before his first birthday, everything went off without a hitch. Her surgical team was amazing and you could just tell they respect her as the expert. What happened: Dr Mester for some reason decided to de-wax her ears using monstrous metal instruments and suction, rather than ear drops and water jets. He scraped her inner ears so much and so repeatedly that she began to cry. ...and the doctors response?--"Well it needs to be done!" He continued despite her obvious pain. She later stated that she would "rather have her toenails pulled out than go through at again!" Subnote: As my sister-in-law left the office with her, they both overheard this huge, burly man leaving Dr Mester's office who was bawling crying. Seems to be a common thread at his practice. End note: If you don't have basic compassion for humanity, don't be in your profession. People come to you in their hour of need and trust you. As someone who worked in the healthcare industry for a decade and a half, I always knew that Dr. Braganza was one of the best and most trusted providers in the ENT specialty within Santa Barbara County. After being given a referral, I surprisingly was able to get in fairly quickly for an appointment. The staff was friendly from the minute I made an appointment to the day I arrived at the office. I was especially thankful for the nurse that helped the doctor out. I have an odd fear of sensitive areas of the body being messed with (particularly the eyes and nose). When they told me I needed to have a quick nose scope done, they provided plenty of numbing spray (thankfully twice) and allowed me to put my feet up during the quick procedure. In my research I discovered that with any surgeon you can find those who are happy with their experience and those who are not. My take on this is that there are always those who will not be pleased. I based my final decision on those I think look years younger than they actually are but in a very natural way. I also talked with another retired surgeon friend of mine who expressed that Dr. LaPatka's background as an Ear Nose & Throat doctor made him that much more qualified to understand the muscles, nerves etc. of the face. I have friends who went to one of the other surgeons that I had considered. They were disappointed because after going through the whole process they thought the doctor had been too conservative and the effect was minimal-- bottom line why bother? Where we live we can certainly see examples all around of the faces that scream, "I had plastic surgery done." Dr. Patka was just the right balance in my estimation. They offered no help whatsoever and my friend had to fill out papers. The papers were weird. A questionnaire about drug addiction mental illness ect. I have neither of those issues. They could have just asked. I went in at 345. I am in a lot of pain so waiting was unbearable however the medical assistant was lovely and I had hope. Finally what seemed forever the Dr came in. I sat over an hour watched him type. And type and type while in agony. I told him narcotics given in er made me sick didn't want to take them no alternative given. No exam given. Nothing. He barely spoke to me. He scheduled an M.R.I. which I told him I had 4 metal clips but he ignored it. Thankfully radiology canceled it today they knew I could not do it so in my opinion the entire day wasted. I walked out of that place at 5:15. 2 hours sitting in moderate pain for nothing. They said they referred me to orthopedic MD but nothing surfaced there either. I think they cater to addictions etc. I would not go back with medical problem. I feel I was kicked to curb because of my insurance. Will not return
