Went in just to ask how much a zip would be for a child's coat as it was broken, after hearing the price to replace a zip I was a little shocked but said its okay which then the man servicing me began to give me unnecessary attitude because I didn't want the zip from there as it did seem a little much (bare in mind I didn't give attitude about the price) read more

I bought this amazing dress in Texas and got it half price because of a rip in the zip lining. So what did I do, waited a year to get it fixed and a week precisely before one of my best friend's wedding. Hello, Captain Organisation calling! So I got it fixed or so I thought. Came home from one tailors and tried to zip it up. Huge massive disaster as the zipper stuck and then... I was stuck in the dress. Can you imagine, hilarity ensued. So I had to break the zip to get out. Two days before the wedding!! I did a quick Yelp look up and found Ma Tailoring near my house. I passed about 3 other tailors on my way here but other 5 star reviewers made me believe this was the place to entrust one of my precious dresses. I never thought she'd be able to fix it, the zip is a unique colour and she didn't have one that matched. Honestly I wasn't convinced, she was very quiet and didn't say much to assure me but I left it there regardless. Came back yesterday and it was perfect. The zip totally matched, I don't even know how! Again she didn't say much, handed it back and I went on my happy way. Great results and she did it in a day which I totally appreciated. I'll be in next week with another dress that needs fixing. read more

Got myself a new fancy Calvin Klein suit on the cheap when I went back to the States (oh that weak currency they have over there!). Surprisingly, the jacket fit me perfectly and did not need any alterations. However, the trousers were clearly made for someone over 7 feet tall as there is no way they would work for me. Knowing that Alp Tailoring was just down the street, I headed into have my trousers fitted. Honestly, it took me longer to change out of my jeans and into the suit trousers than it did for them to properly measure me and have me on my way. Within, two days, my trousers were ready and fit perfectly. I will definitely be coming back to these guys, as I have a few suit jackets I need re-tailored. read more

So happy to have found such a good and affordable tailor locally. the beautiful thing is, that's all these guys do. They tailor - not as a side job within a dry cleaners, which can be of highly variable quality, but as their business. I took a simple hemming in here, and while I waited watched them very confidently and competently tack up a couple pairs of trousers for slimming, and then handed over my wedding dress to be hemmed. To be clear - this isn't a seamstress, I'm not necessarily recommending it for all wedding dresses, I didn't test it to that level, but I needed two layers of my fairly simple dress shortened, and they did it without blinking and eye, as well as taking in a bit of a fabric ripple around the zipper in such a way that I really can't see what they did. So, in short, I will probably be much better tailored from here on out! read more

I've come here for 2 pairs of jeans that needed hemming and a coat that needed a couple buttons sewed on (yeah, I know, NOT a domestic girl!) and they did all three jobs fabulously. Hemming jeans seems simple enough but I've gone places in L.A., my previous 'hood, and had to give away jeans because they were hemmed too short. Even one inch too short can render a pair of jeans unwearable, which is annoying if you spent $$$ (British translation: £££) on a pair. Also, they had my jeans ready in two days. which rocks because I'm always taking stuff in last minute and wanting it for the weekend. read more

Now known as May Tailoring this tailors is absolutely fantastic! I had a bridesmaid dress for a friend's wedding that needed adjusting to fit around the bust. I took the dress along to them and within minutes of changing into it she had cinched and pinned the dress to fit. 4 days later I returned to find a dress that fitted perfectly! It was impossible to tell that the dress had been adjusted. The price for the work was also extremely good (especially since hearing how much friends in similar situations have had to pay!) Would definitely recommend you give them a try! read more

Now called Ma's Tailoring. Not impressed, brought in three trousers ordered from the USA that needed taking up since only come in one length. I specifically told them that the finish must be the same as the original, to which they agreed to do. All of them were poorly done since: - thread of the wrong colour i.e. a poor approximation. - the new stitching was not straight and not the correct distance from the end - the stitching itself was obviously doubled up / overlapped in places which is really conspicuous - The gauge and thickness of the stitching did not match the original and now looks different compared to the rest of the trousers. They offered to fix it up within an hour, but I did not to come back to a new set of issues. I will never use them again. I suggest that you do not use them if you want a professional finish. read more

Excellent tailor at a very affordable price. I have had two dresses that were too large in the top and they took them in from the shoulders for £12 a dress. I also had a dress that I loved, but wanted it turned into a skirt, as I never wore it as just a dress. It was a very reasonable £20 to turn a dress into a skirt, especially considering it was a very tricky micopleated fabric. I would highly recommend May tailoring to anyone needing a good tailor. The customer service is good as well and they are quick and efficient. Only word of advice is bring cash, as they don't take cards. read more

Do NOT bring anything to this tailors. I just left there with a dress I had asked them to take up - a very simple job you would think, but they managed to completely mess up the dress. They clearly take no pride or care in their work. Whilst I was there waiting for them to attempt to fix my dress, another person came in also complaining about how their stitching had come undone. What made it even worse is that they couldn't see why I was unhappy with their work, the hem looked like a 5 year old had stitched it! I left there angry and with an unfinished, botched dress. DO NOT DREAM OF USING THIS UNPLEASANT, INCOMPETENT AND DISHONEST ESTABLISHMENT! I had two pairs of trousers (made for and worn the world over by miners so extremely strong) in good condition that i had worn several times previously, taken in here. However both pairs ripped at the seams causing damage beyond the seams after wearing for only a couple of days! I went back and asked if they could fix the trousers, which they said they would but they seemed astonished that I felt I should not be charged for this! A middle aged man with glasses, who seemed to be the owner, was extraordinarily aggressive shouting calling me a liar and an idiot, claiming that the trousers had not been taken in there, and (contradictorily) that the damage had nothing to do with their work, anything to not have to take the responsibility for the few pounds to fix their incompetent work. He was shouting threateningly standing close to me calling me an idiot and liar over and again basically trying to start a fight with me. Do not get taken in by the "friendly family business" front ! None of the other staff were willing to intervene when I asked if they were prepared to let this man speak to a customer in this way. The work is rubbish and despite appearances they are are dishonest and obnoxious when they think it is to their advantage. read more

I had a massive tear at the back pocket of a pair of velvet trousers. The assistant initially said that all they could do was some zig-zag stitching across, so imagine my surprise when it turned out they must have used some kind of invisible stitching on the inside. I would like to warn anyone against handing in anything precious to Ma Tailoring. I left the brand new white shirt I was going to wear for my wedding with them for alteration, and noticed a food stain on it when I came back to pick it up. They refused to take responsibility. Later, when taking it to the dry cleaner, he pointed out that someone had been wearing my shirt - the collar was filthy on the inside and under the arms it reeked of sweat. When I called to complain they told me I must have forgotten that I'd worn it myself. I don't want to wear this shirt for my wedding anymore and will have to get a new one. Not what I expect from a tailor. read more
