Peninsula Golf Course is a Nicklaus Design 18-hole course and part of the large Mayan Palace resort development. Stunning ocean views on half the holes and natural desert/scrub off the fairways. Located 25 minutes from Puerto Penasco toward Caborca. Modest pro shop has a small selection of balls, gloves and clothes. Excellent rental clubs. Full service food grill, or you can dine or lunch at the adjacent Mayan Palace. Resort food prices. Driving range/practice area with good turf. Like other Rocky Point (Puerto Penasco) golf courses, Peninsula course has fairways and greens like carpet. Greens are impeccable with few ball marks, medium speed and a true roll. Fairways are excellent, and just a touch longer than Las Palomas and Laguna del Mar. The "longer" isn't shaggy, it's simply not as tight a fairway lie. Peninsula is a longer course with ample landing areas. Fewer traps - more links style like Las Palomas, whereas sportyLaguna del Mar has 2x the number of traps. Some blind green approaches, so your score will decline on additional rounds. :-) Beverage service and immaculate restrooms on course. Range balls, fresh towel and bottle of water included in greens fee. $85 greens fee was reduced to 2 for $99 using coupon from local JoinUs free paper. Of the 3 Puerto Penasco courses, Peninsula is #2 in turf (after Laguna del Mar), #2 in traffic (Las Palomas is the busiest), and equal with Laguna del Mar for ambiance and vista. Peninsula is equal to Las Palomas for ease of staying out of traps/scrub. Peninsula open 7 days/week, whereas Laguna del Mar is closed Monday and Las Palomas closes on Tuesday. read more

Had the opportunity to play here last week. It seams like it s out in the middle of nowhere. But it`s on the ocean !! Cart staff is very helpful on getting you set up. It`s a great course a little narrow at times. The greens are some of the nicest iv`e seen. Impeccable groomed. I think there are 5 holes along the beach. I even teed up a few and drove them into the sea. Upon returning the carts. We were greeted by staff with cool towels. We then adjourned into the club house for some tasty margaritas and tacos. Will golf there again if I am the area. read more

Just go back and loved the golf coarse. The condition of the coarse is a 10 and the holes are also some of the best we have ever golfed on. It is well worth the trip. Nice to see a 500 yard hole along a white sand beach. All the people who worked their were very helpful and friendly. read more

I stayed at the Mayan Palace in Puerto Penasco 2 years ago. I have some friends that had never been to Rocky Point and have been begging me to show them around. They also have a time share and Mayan Palace is an option for them. After playing games at the gate for 5 minutes trying to access the estuary and have lunch on the golf course, I had to place a call to the Manager on Duty who informed me he just told security to let us in. We proceeded to the golf course for a simple lunch on the patio. A few appetizers and a few rounds of drinks and the bill came! What a joke. $2765.05 pesos with an included 10% tip for a party of 4. When I inquired about the drinks I asked the waiter why were they $10 for tiny margaritas as that was not the price on the menu? There are practically no $10 margaritas in Rocky Point and I have been going to 30 years. He said oh because I put you in for Cadillac margaritas not house margaritas. I said we didn't order those? He shrugged his shoulders and said oh well and when I asked why he included a tip he said "its only 10%". $149.90 for drinks in Mexico and a few appetizers is a total joke. Not to mention the entire table was done eating before the fish and chips appetizer finally made it to the table. You had more staff in the kitchen than people eating. I showed my friends some of the property and they said they will never stay there based on the lunch experience. It was good enough to stay there again after 2015 but after this weekend never. Staff has a condescending attitude for Puerto Penasco. There are so many other choices and we will never spend money there again. I don't mind spending money but I HATE someone ripping me off no matter what the amount! The hotel said 10% is automatic for every guest because it helps ensure great service. Maybe you should go back to actual service and you would have better luck with actual good service. read more

The beach and grounds are lovely and is a great place to lie back on the beach. For anything else, it is horrible. Way too far from the real Rocky Point. Food was too expensive. Had to pay for Wi-Fi that was slow and didn't work at times. The 19th Hole! Seriously, the food is mediocre, at night it is a bit spooky. I had a vegetable place and it cost $22 US! Absolutely ridiculous! I requested the manager for 2 days and amazingly this manager seemed to be always away. NEVER AGAIN! read more

Being that this resort is labeled as a Mayan Palace is a joke. It is definitely showing it's age and nothing is being done. We stayed there and the ceiling in the restroom was leaking. Then they send a maintenance worker to fix it and they did a shitty job. They left the panel open just placed a towel to catch the residue water. Which continued to leak and then on the 3rd day the chunks of the ceiling started to fall due to the water saturation from Previous days. They sent another maintenance worker to finish the Mickey Mouse job the other man did; however the hotel was not willing to go further on the damage that was done to our electronics. They kept pushing us to a another room not better than the one we had, at least for the interruption of our vacation instead they complimented us with 2 breakfast passes. There was only 3 employees that are an asset to this resort and that are doing a Great job that would be Iris and Emmanuel from Vidanta and Don Jerry in maintenance. They understand the true meaning of customer service and guest expectations. This place needs to get it together and step it up in customer service and guest etiquette. I was not impressed. If it wasn't for the beautiful water this resort has it should be shut down. read more
