I just stumbled across this place and I was in luck. The food was great! I wanted some of everything so I got the sampler and the jalapeño poppers omg. I don't know what kind of cream cheese they use but? delicious the drinks were good I did a mango margarita. The only thing I didn't like is it's more expensive than I'm used to for Mexican food, but for quality food come with a price. I'll go back. read more

My partner have gone to Mayas for the 3 years we have lived in this area. Even supporting during pandemic with to go orders. Tonight we eat in and our server was fair at best. I asked for a lime with my ice tea twice. I ended up going to the bar where a nice young lady helped me. Meanwhile our server spent at least 10 minutes chatting with the tabl As if that wasn't enough, 2 people came in without masks and stood within 6 feet of us talking to the table for 15 minutes without masks. Then ae next to us. second couple came in with no masks and stood at the table next to us and started talking. If you can not enforce people without masks walking in and congregating near other tables talking for extended periods we will not be back. My wife and I enjoyed dinner at Mayas for the first time, and were pleasantly surprised by the quality, portions, and attentive service by the waiter, and the owner. My wife had three shrimp tacos that were loaded with shrimp, peppers, and onions. I chose the sunset meal that consisted of well seasoned grilled chicken breast, thin flank steak, and shrimp. All portions were well seasoned and cook perfectly. Our meals included rice and beans, chips, and salsa. For the quality and large portions, the meal prices were very reasonable compared to other restaurants in and around PSL. The Mexican Restaurant is family owned and runs as good as some five star restaurants in the area. Give Mayas a try, you won't have disappointed. read more

Just ate here for dinner with my husband for the first time. The staff was friendly and the service was fast considering the place was packed. We got a complementary bowl of chips and salsa. The salsa was fresh and homemade. Chips were stale so we sent them back. Got a second bowl of stale chips. Not a big deal, I wasn't there for the chips. Our entrees were HUGE. One thing about this place- they don't skimp on portions. I had the grilled chicken entree. Heavily smothered in cheese and mushrooms. Delicious. My husband had the chicken chimichanga. If you like Mexican food and want decent Mexican food (not talking about Chipotle, Moe's, or Tijuana Flats) then give Maya's a try. This was the second time I've come to eat here. Again, the traffic was slow and the service has always been friendly and honest as I had remembered them the first time. Colorful plates as usual which match the decor and atmosphere of the restaurant. Washrooms are decently well-kept. I ordered a different meal this time because I was curious to see if everything on their menu was worth having. Turns out not all of them are winners (but that's okay, there's always room for improvement, right?) For drinks, it is kind of a bummer if you don't drink alcohol, beer, and soda. The only thing that was available for me was unsweetened tea because their sweet tea came from the gun and if anyone has tried sweetened tea from the gun before, it is downright nasty! Also, the drinks are not listed on the food menu so it will be up to you to ask the server what kind of drinks they have to offer the day you go. The fiesta platter is always a great appetizer to start out with because you get an assortment of every little thing to taste test and it can feed about 4-6 people. Also, be cautious that the majority of their meals and some of the salads are served on VERY HOT plates so do not burn yourselves. The servers don't really mention about the hot plates but then again I suppose they expect their customers to have some common sense. I may sound harsh when I say this but it is my honest opinion, so please do not flame me for it; the salads and fajitas are pretty much the only entrees worth ordering here other than that, onward to the desserts! It was my first time trying flan, tres leches (3 milks in case you didn't know), and pina colada which are all on their dessert menu. Nothing personal, I have a sweet tooth but not for cake, especially not for Mexican dessert. All of these desserts are super sweet and the only one I would lean towards is the flan. The tres leches and pina colada come with a lot of whip cream on top of the cakes so if you don't like whip cream, ask to omit it altogether. The pina colada dessert does have alcohol blended inside the cake and it can be very strong in the aftertaste. All made from wheat ingredients and very heavy settling on the stomach. Overall, everything is alright. I love Mexican food but I cannot say Maya's Grill wins my heart but it may be a different and more enjoyable experience for you so it never hurts to give them a try. Coming from Arizona I have learned that it's hard to find a good Mexican place in Florida. With that being said this one is pretty good. The salsa was excellent on the fresh made chips. Their margaritas were from a mix so that was disappointing and I'm a light drinker but I have had two and had no effects. Not cheap for what you get on the drink side ($7 each) - so recommend skipping that. My husband had the fajitas and he really liked the seasoning that was used. He had to ask for tortillas though. Daughters had the casadias and they really liked them as well. I had the chimichanga- beef. I was disappointed because I was hoping for traditional with shredded beef but got just ground beef. To me is was less than average. The rice didn't have much flavor and the retried beans tasted as though they came from a can. We had the flan and fried ice cream for dessert. Husband liked the flan and said even if it was store bought they have a great supplier. The fried ice cream was one very large scoop and hard. I was expecting he traditional two or three smaller scoops. With the huge one it was hard to cut through and get the ice cream. The service was excellent. Very quick on everything. So in the end yes, we will come back and I would recommend it to others as a good Mexican restaurant. read more

Theres been a few times where service is not as good as normal, when its slow and they seat you in the very back. First time visiting with a party of 4. Quickly seated, fast approach by a friendly waitress, nice environment and simple menu. Ordered drinks, my beer got mixed up for another brand but that can happen anywhere. Food was great, we had fajita salad (on point), fiesta burrito (large amount of food, yummy sauce, recommended to people w/ large appetite), and I had a vegetarian chimichanga (caution should be made about a very hot cheese inside, slightly burned my mouth). Mexican places are hit or miss...there rarely is one in between. This was a HIT for us. We had a group of 20 that they sat right away. They accommodated is without complaint. I read that the service was poor. I have to disagree. For such a large party they got all the food correct even with the little requests...the only miss was the refills. Food was delicious! Me and my Fiance' have ordered from here a few times using ChowCab. The food is fantastic, with extremely large portions, but the service is abhorrent. But don't make the mistake thinking that it's the waiters' fault. This establishment/management doesn't seem to expect their female waitresses to do much. Case in point, we decided to dine in last night and while one male server took care of ALL of the customers, the three other waitresses sat in a corner chatting away. I once even signaled for a waitress and she looked me in the eyes, smiled and walked away. I felt extremely bad for the waiter and I asked him why he was the only one busting his tail and he responded with, "I'm the only man working right now." The food is good, but the customer service is severely lacking. We will not be returning. This is the second time we came on a Sunday for lunch and the place was empty and yet they neglected us. On both occasions they took our drink orders and then we waited for a long time until we could order our food. They brought our food out and no silverware, we had to get up and ask for everything (napkins, extra plates, baby high chair, to go boxes!). They never checked up on us, not even to refill our drinks. Making it an overall bad experience. I would hate to see what the service is like when they are busy. Oh and I ordered a chicken quesadilla for my daughter and they brought it out with just cheese, instead of remaking it for her they gave her a side dish of shredded chicken!? read more
