The park is located in a beautiful neighborhood, right across the street from the library, making it a perfect spot for families. It's spacious, lush, and green with plenty of trees providing shade--great for both play and relaxation. Whether you're there for a picnic, to let the kids burn off some energy, or just to enjoy the outdoors, there's more than enough to keep everyone happy. The park does close on Wednesday mornings for landscaping but reopens at noon. On weekends, it definitely gets more traffic, but it never feels overwhelming thanks to the space and layout. If you're looking for a clean, fun, and family-friendly park in Plantation, this is it!

There are no shaded areas so plan to visit early in the morning or later in the afternoon. However, if you end up here right in the middle of the day, don't worry! Your kids will be excited to cool down at the adjacent water park- also free! In between the city and water park there is a nice mostly shaded playground. This was such a fun place to visit! There is a big mall within a 10 min drive so you can make this a day trip!

Dr. Hays was a faculty member at Barry University's School of National and Health Sciences for twenty-four years while working as a Ft. Lauderdale civic activist serving on many city advisory boards. Dr. Hays passed away in 2009. The 2.49 acre park is located off of Riverland Road in Ft. Lauderdale, It is open daily from 6 AM until 9 PM. Park amenities include a walking exercise path, open play area, pavilion with picnic tables, grills, benches, and a very nice shade covered playground. Since it is a civic park there is a grove of trees at the park entrance that have plaques commemorating the volunteer efforts of community members. Although small the park is very nicely maintained is perfect for taking the kids to play, a picnic, or just getting some fresh air and exercise.

So glad some friends told us about this place awhile back when we were talking about places to take the grandkids in the future. But even if you're just a kid at heart, You may want to visit here. Wear your bathing suit. It's easy to find. And there's ample free parking out front. Mid week when we stopped by it wasn't very busy. But if I had kids, I'd be here every weekend -- especially in our recent hot weather. First and foremost is the interactive water/splash pad. So many machines spraying water, buckets dumping, etc etc. The three kids there were squealing with joy and excitement. Such fun. There's also a story walk/trail for children with various stops plus a regular walking trail. A covered playground with equipment for kids. A Volleyball sand court; basketball court; grills; picnic areas... all with a large swath of green grass in the middle -- perfect for events/concerts. On the south end is the canal C-14 with a fishing pier. More "waters edge" as in the name. And also for adults, there's a covered area right near the water with all sorts of gym/exercise equipment. Don't know what more you could want except maybe a few more resting benches along the main trail for the older folks... Go check it out. Bring the kids.

All my kids loved it, especially my little one age 4. Would def come by again when I'm in the area. Plenty of parking and it's next to a plaza with many food choices. The security alerts are posted everywhere, "Park Under Video Surveillance", "Lock Your Vehicles", "Park At Own Risk", which actually brings a heighten safety concern for me as I sip my coffee in a secluded area. No pets are permitted on nature center grounds - assume since wildlife may devour a small dog, not sure. Other signs advise pets permitted by park permit only, but does not indicate on the posts about service dogs - kind of confusing. They provide guided nature walks through the park which seems like a fun tranquil activity for people with good knees and a decent pair of binoculars. The far west side of the park provides beautiful views of the New River and small critters like crabs along the waters edge.
