It has multiple soccer fields, running track, pickleball courts, aquatic center and a big lake to sit by, bird watch and relax. Central Park is really convenient to the west central part of Plantation. This park is very big, including a community center, many ball fields, pickle ball courts, swimming and diving pool, and pavilions for the playgrounds for birthday parties as well as a splash pad for the little walkers who want to play in the water on a hot day. The pool area charges a daily admission fee and a fee to watch athletic competitions. The tennis courts are always busy and there is plenty of parking in each of the areas. I enjoyed taking a peaceful walk around the lake and I look at the cute sculptures by the water. This is an all ages and abilities city park, I just wish they would add EV charging stations around the park. read more

This is a great public park Pickleball facility. I think I counted 18 courts at least, all very well maintained and fast drying after a quick rain shower. There were solid players all around, all of whom were very welcoming to me when I showed up. My one gripe is I wish they had skill level courts divided. It's basically just show up and find your people. I would have loved a challenge court or section off 3.0-3.5, 3.5-4.0, etc etc Parking was easy and the park felt very safe. Such a wonderful park! They have tennis courts , pickeball courts , rollerblading rink, baseball fields, and much more ! It truly feels like the Central Park in our area lol . I came for some pickeball , they have 18 courts . It can get a bit packed . I would say around 12pm it slows down and late at night around 8:30pm . The park says it closes at 11 but they start shutting off the lights around 10pm . There all levels that play there , usually the first courts the more advanced players play . They have water , and ice to refill drinks, and clean restrooms ! Overall , one my favorite parks to go too ! read more

Absolutely the most well maintained and largest sports complex in Broward County. Pickleball is by far the largest draw at this complex. Played countless hours of pickleball here. Early mornings are busy and a majority of the courts fill up until around 11am when the blistering sun is directly above the courts when players leave. The players return at 6pm, fill every court and play until the park closes at 11pm. They complex also have multiple fields dedicated to soccer and a nice swimming pool. I have been to several FREE outside rock and roll concerts at this complex where we brought folding chairs and coolers relaxing in the grass field as the classic music played for hours. Plenty of free public parking in addition to water fountains and bathrooms. Excellent sports complex for kids, teens and adults. read more

Love coming here to play pickleball!! It's beautiful and well kept and there are lots of courts available. Everything is in great condition. After work it does get pretty busy here and the courts fill up/have a wait. There's probably 20 different courts though so it's pretty big. They have an ice/water filler machine which is so helpful and fresh as well as water pusher mops for after the rain. Plenty of parking available and bathrooms not far away from the courts. read more

This is an update to my original review from 2 years ago. Central Park continues to be a top rated facility for sports. Grounds are kept in excellent condition, and recently they expanded the Pickleball area from 12 to 18 courts. People from around the county come to play here because of the good condition of the courts and also because you can find players for all levels: from beginner to 5.0. Also, this pickleball facility hosts several large tournaments during year, including APP (professional level) competitions, and there are 3 resident coaches available for private lessons. Another day, another park review just for the pickleball courts. Plantation Central Park is another Broward park that I would've never came across if it weren't for picking up this sport and the friends that brought me here. This park is honestly huge with a lot of spaces to walk and many different courts and fields for different sports. This has by far the most pickleball courts I've seen so far in Broward, with a total of 17! The newer courts don't seem to have any lighting on in the evening, so if you decide to play late, the courts are a bit more limited. The first time I came here, they had a pickleball competition and the newest courts just opened. The courts are clean and well kept, and the bathroom aren't too far of a walk with a concession stand and water fountains. Everyone there is super courteous and there are even stands and benches to watch people play. read more

This is a big park. I gave it 5 stars because they have a wide variery of courts to use. To name what I saw, tennis, pickle ball, basketball, baseball, skate hockey, and I'm sure there's more. The activity center is wonderful. It's located near the exit of the park, and collocated with the pool. The activity center has a number of events and flyers from learning to cook to learning to fish. I look forward to participating in many more events. read more

This 77 acre park was opened by the City of Plantation in 1983. The Park got it's name because it is centrally located in the middle of Plantation. Central Park is a huge sports park. Park amenities include a gym, 8 baseball diamonds, 3 football fields, soccer fields, tennis and basketball courts, roller hockey rink, and running track. Also located in the park is the Frank Veltri Tennis Center. Frank Veltri was elected as Plantation Mayor in 1975. He was the city's longest-serving mayor, completing six terms over 24 years. In 2016 the tennis center hosted the 2016 USTA Orange Bowl. The center has 26 Har-Tru courts which are some of the best surfaces to play on because they have shock absorbing cushioning.You can take lessons at the center and they also have kids camps. The Plantation Park Aquatic Complex has two Olympic sized pools and a 500 sq foot water playground for toddlers. The Aquatic Complex hosts swim and dive meets but they are also available for open swim, aerobics, and lessons. Almost every sport can be played here but this park is also a beautiful place to ride a bike, take the kids to play, or have a picnic. Loved the pickleball courts! We were vacationing nearby and went over in a Tuesday night at 6pm, but found the courts were packed. It's still a great place so our son played a little bit and then we came back another day at 3pm and it wasn't busy at all. read more

This is a very nice park with a multi sport options. You have soccer fields, baseball, football, basketball, swimming facilities, a gymnasium with indoor access. And my favorite activity is the Veltri tennis center with many courts and tennis pros per sq ft. This is a county park for everyone. Even if you do not play sports this is a great place to bring the kids and have a picnic or a party. It's very family oriented. And you can't beat Florida weather. I come here for pickle ball and it is huge! There's about 16 courts and the competition is great. I love that there's water fountains everywhere. Parking is also great. My only complaint is that there are no rest rooms around the pickleball courts. read more

I absolutely love this park! It's a huge park that has a lot of amenities, such as,swimming, tennis, racket ball, etc. Hopefully I can use some of the amenities soon. Due to COVID they have blocked off all the trail stops where you would do certain exercises. I love the trail as there are so many ways around the park to get in as much miles as possible. I just did over 4 miles and feeling great! The park is very clean and I also feel safe when I'm there especially early in the mornings when it is dark. read more

Lately I've been trying to get into better shape as well as visiting some parks in the area, especially ones like this one that are free. One late afternoon I decided to give it a try and fell in love with this place. As I drove in I immediately was taken back by how large the grounds were. They seemed to go on forever! I pulled into the parking lot and started on my run. There were many trails/pathways for me to go through. I noticed plenty of soccer fields, tennis courts, and play grounds. There is even a large swimming pool- I can imagine that gets pretty busy during the summer. There were a lot of people there, but it definitely didn't feel crowded. Parking was easy, running on a path way easy and later when I went over to the basket ball courts (they have about 8-10 hoops), getting one was a breeze. This has to be one of the better, if not the best park in the area. If you want it, it's probably here. I will definitely be spending more time here for sure. read more

I love Plantation Central Park! There's a great variety of activities, but my favorite is the walking trail around the lake. It's less than a mile which makes it easy to customize your length by how many laps you do. It's around a lake with trees which is always nice, wildlife to look at, and benches along the path if you need to take a break. At one point, the path splits in two right next to each other, giving you the option to either continue flat or get a bit of an extra workout by going up a hill. read more

Large well maintained park with walking trails and some fields (with some bleacher seating) for youth sports games. There's usually plenty of parking unless several games are going on at the same time. They have a rec. center for local residents offering various types of classes. Each class has a fee. Sometimes I wish I could bottle these cool fall nights. The temperature and breezes are so refreshing, especially when I can take a power walk in Central Park. Central Park is not right in my neighborhood, but I get to come here sometimes in the fall when my boys have lacrosse practice here instead of Bamford Park. In the fall, Bamford is football country. It is a nice change of pace though. I always power walk at Bamford, but there, it seems like the only people walking or running when I am there are the lacrosse parents. At Central Park, it seems like the entire community is exercising. There is a nice size walking path around a lake with a waterfall and many ducks and birds all around. It is quite scenic. There is also a track. I will walk both of these, but I also just like to walk along the winding paths of the park. There are lots of trees, grass, as well as rest rooms & water fountains if you need them. There are tons of fields and kids playing different sports depending upon the season: flag and tackle football, baseball, soccer. There are rinks and I often see trainers conducting cross fit classes there. The fields are the part of Central Park that I use but the park has so much more to offer. There are basketball courts, tennis courts, an Olympic size pool, a kids' water play area, indoor facilities, and party pavilions. From the very young to old, from novice exercisers to elite athletes, Central Park is where the Plantation community comes to work out and play! read more

This park is amazing! There is very little they don't have. I walked around here fascinated with the amenities. Usually at parks, there is no extra anything. There were many basketball court areas for plenty of people to play, a swimming pool with diving boards, many soccer, baseball, and even roller hockey fields/courts. There were girls rollerblading on the hockey rinks around getting some exercise. There are a few playgrounds and sitting areas. My cousins play softball here, and there are always all kinds of recreational activities going on here. There is a walking trail and plenty of parking. I am still exploring the park and what they offer, but I say with confidence you can find something to make you happy here! read more

Plantation Central Park is a great place to play Pickleball! There are 12 pristine courts. All you need to do is find a court that seems to be playing at your level and put your paddle in line. Soon you'll be on the court. Very little waiting to play which makes this location much better than Stan Goldman Park (which is very overcrowded). Morning play continued until about noon when I was there in January 2023. I understand that evening hours, after work, are busy (courts are lighted). If you want a free Court to teach a beginner how to play, early afternoon provides plenty of them. Loved that they had free ice and water on hand so you could refill your water bottle. read more

A runner's paradise. Also looks fun for picnic-ers, swimmers, kids, bikers, and walkers. Seems like the definition of a park to me! Oh, its free?? Free is me! It was a rainy, dismal afternoon in January when I decided to go for a training run. I usually run the mean streets of Pembroke Pines, but how would I do my speed splits without a measured track? Surely I could run the middle school track, but my 2 mile warmup was too much to do on a small track. Off I went to try running at Central Park. I must admit when I first heard about it, the name made me think it was a joke due to the obvious NY reference, but that's another story all together. The entrance off of Broward is a bit confusing because there are a few streets with some variation of Central Park in the name, but just go in through the one with the large white wall and kids playground up front. That seems to be the main entrance. From there, proceed North past the pool and park in the large lot right there. Upon parking, you'll find a large gazebo with benches, bathrooms, and bubblers (I think you freaks call them drinking fountains). The gazebo sits next to the longer multipurpose track that I used for the warmup. It has multiple path options you can take, but the longest route is about a mile. It wraps around a pond, soccer field, and green space. Running this track was like stepping into a Curious George book. Marine recruits training, couples on a romantic stroll, kids playing, and runners running. I was looking for the man with the yellow hat, but per the standard, he was nowhere to be found. After the warmup was over, we went over to the soccer field area because it has a 1/4 mile running track encircling it's perimeter like a warm hug. Here we found kids playing sports, cheerleaders cheering, and a group doing some sort of triathlon training. The track is in great shape, and was nice and smooth to run on. There was more than enough room for all of the activity going down on the track. By the time training was done, the walk back to the car was well lit and inviting. There was a group using the gazebo for their sports group, and enjoying the benches and such. The fact that this park seems to have an option for everything people generally use a park for makes it one of the best in Broward. Unlike some of the other parks in the area, its free! Being able to access this glorious homage to fitness without having to pay an entrance fee makes it my top park. If park life is your life, Central Park is surely your jam. Take a date on a walk, enjoy a sandwich on a plaid sheet, go for a swim, or do some biking. Who am I to tell you how you should park? Just enjoy it! read more

I love this park, there is a lake in the middle of the park, and many ducks that surround it as well as turtles and burrowing owls which are cute. It's very quiet and peaceful to take a nice walk, or ride a bike, I've done both here several times it's a great overall ambiance. There is a few different pathways you can take, a smaller track circle, the circle surrounding the lake and another big circle circling both of those areas lol! They also have tennis courts and basketball courts, and over sized lap pool, hockey and soccer field so much to do! read more

I really miss this park. It's huge, and has paths that are suitable for walking and running as well as skating. It's well maintained and clean. A bonus is the owl nests that are marked with PVC pipe. If you live in Plantation then there's a 99% chance that you've been to Central Park. First of all it's not really in the "center," it's kind of on the west side of the city; but as the city expands, more & more of the population is out west. This park has it all: meeting rooms, game room, a lap pool, several rec. pools, high dives, a tennis center, football fields, baseball fields, soccer fields, outdoor basketball courts, an indoor gymnasium, pavilions, a track, outdoor street hockey rinks, multiple playgrounds, rec. classes, and even pickle ball courts! The fields are well maintained and are used for most of the organized city sports, (PAL.). They have all kinds of events going on here & the rooms are often busy with club meetings, hoa meetings, and scout meetings. There is plenty of parking, and access from several different directions. The path that goes around the main lake is marked so that runners/walkers/bikers can keep track of how far they've gone. (There is a lot of beautiful "nature" to see if you're observant: burrowing owls, Egyptian geese, and graceful water birds.). There are also small group workouts going on at various times all throughout the park. (Picnic tables & benches too if you just want to relax & take in nature.). It's a great " central" park with a little bit of everything.....only downfall is the crazy design. (You either park or walk in through the back area, or hike up the hill after parking far away because there is no parking by the front entrance.....who designed this place?) read more

I've been stepping up my park game recently - mainly to get dem' steps in....and dropped in to Central Park for an afternoon job. There was a ton of activity in this park - even though it was only like 3pm. Various runners, a couple of families, some older folks sitting on the benches, etc. In the center of the park there is a nice lake , with a circular path around it that you can run around. Be warned - there's a ton of duck poop on the majority of this path - it's like a mine field. I managed to duck (heh, puns) all of them, but in that afternoon heat, the smell in certain parts of the trail were a little rough. There's another side walk that shoots of the playground - where some kids looked like they were having a blast. I ran up and down that sidewalk after getting tired of dodging the poop - this path was nice and clean. And of course, if you want something more legit, they have an actual track to go around. I didn't try it this go around, but I'll check it out next time. Parking was plentiful. Not sure how the weekends are, but there seemed to be a good amount of spots. Overall, it's a super solid outdoor space to get out and build a sweat. read more

I have been to more parks in the last couple of weeks than I have been in years! This park is amazing. It is big. Has nice trails, soccer fields, pool, playgrounds, a nice lake and plenty of parking. It is free everyday, including weekends. I came in last weekend and yesterday with hubby, and we enjoyed a very nice afternoon walking around, watching the ducks and just enjoying the wether.... I used to take the kids I babysat here for swim lessons and always loved this park. I've returned recently to start using the outdoor roller rink and it's awesome. The rinks are usually unlocked from my experience and they turn on the lights at night if there are people skating (the park by my house will not do that and is usually locked unless you ask a park ranger so definite upgrade). This park has a little of everything, playground, pickle ball, roller rinks, owl nests, all the things. This park is worth checking out because there's a ton to do and it's huge so it's a great place to walk. read more

This park is actually located on Central Park Drive between Cleary and Broward. The address on the website and here is the parks department. Anyway, this is a great park. There are several baseball and soccer fields, (they have to be reserved by permit), a running track, a lake, restrooms, and a couple playgrounds. It's an awesome park for running, walking, or biking. Plenty of parking, even when there are six athletic events going on at the same time. I especially appreciate that the parks department keeps up the park so well. you hardly ever see trash and never any overflowing trash cans. A nice, semi-quiet spot but it is more of a sports park. Large pools, tracks & soccer fields for every kind of exercise. Even a tennis club you can join. One star off for large amounts of bird feces around some of the walk ways. Also had an encounter with an extremely rude gatekeeper. They usually leave you alone tho - I think he was just PMSing that day. Not the best spot for nature watchers like myself. I recommend Wolf Lake for that. read more

There are benches throughout the trail so that you can rest or enjoy the scenery. The park also includes a soccer field, track, etc.. I love our community Plantation park. It is clean and in a great location. The park is actually huge, with basketball, swimming pools (2), fitness club, tennis courts. It is very well maintained. Great place for running laps and mile-walks. Decently lighted park throughout, so you feel very safe during evening hours. The park is never packed during winter evening hours. The summer gets a bit busy. Pleasant staff although a bit slow on call backs, so go to the club in person when needed. By the way it's definitely worth to pay for the membership if you live in Plantation. The park is perfect for families. They have a cool splash pad for kids. My son takes swimming classes here, by Red Cross team. He loves it. They do competitive swimming. We both enjoy the park. I'm giving it 4-stars simply by comparing it to Weston parks.
