The plumber did not have a mask but was willing to put one on. The original diagnosis had been defective or clogged cartridges in the leaking faucets. The plumber replaced the parts, but the faucets are still leaking. Now he says the entire faucet must be defective. So they misdiagnosed the problem and still charged for the failed repair. Still charged what seems like a LOT of money $500/hour, for one plumber, and this was an alleged discounted price. The plumber blamed the make of the faucets (Moen, usually considered a good brand, we got them at costco), and offered to expensively, but with an alleged discount, replace them with Delta faucets. overall, a disappointing and expensive mistake. Added a star for masking and showing up. Will look elsewhere in future.

Beware of Thornton and Grooms HVAC Company…read more While dog walking I noticed my very elderly neighbor's central air conditioner coils completely clogged. I mentioned this to him and he informed me he had a contract with Thornton and Grooms HVAC and would have them come out and clean it. When they arrived they were there for a few hours yet did nothing to the AC unit. I went over to see what was happening. They informed me that his furnace needed a new inducer motor, blower motor and combustion assembly. To repair would be $5000, they said since the furnace was 10 years old they suggested replacing both furnace and AC for a discounted price of $13,000. I thought that was ludicrous since the furnace was only 10 years old and T&G installed it originally. They never mentioned about the 20 year warranty on the combustion assembly. I called a family owned HVAC I have dealt with called Otto Trzos. They checked the inducer motor and found it was loose on the mounting bracket causing vibration, the blower motor and combustion assembly were well within specifications so they replaced the air filter, humidifier filter and cleaned the AC coils for $250. Be leery of Thornton and Grooms!

I just had such a terrible experience with Cummings Plumbing that I will not be using them again. Nick, the plumber who came to my home, was unprofessional and made the whole situation uncomfortable. First, he was cursing constantly while working, very inappropriate, especially with my kids in the house. It was really unsettling to have that kind of language in my house and it left me feeling uneasy as my husband wasn't home. To make matters worse, he didn't even tell me he broke the panel he needed to remove to access the plumbing behind the shower. I only found out after the fact when I saw the damage. On top of that, he removed shelving and clothing rods to get to the panel, but didn't bother to put anything back in place. He just left everything scattered on the floor, including my clothes! It was disrespectful and left me with a mess to clean up on top of everything else. I expected a lot more professionalism, especially for the price I paid. I will not be using Cummings Plumbing again and definitely would not recommend them to others.

In September 2024, Z Plumbers installed a Navien tankless water heater in our home. What followed…read morewas 16 months of ignition failures, cold showers, and a crash course in troubleshooting a device they clearly had no business installing. The unit failed to ignite almost immediately. Their first diagnosis: not enough gas. I had just upgraded my gas meter with DTE, so that didn't sound right - but let's investigate. Their fix months later? Install a pressure regulator because too much gas was coming in. Then in September 2025, they replaced the control valve and other components. Still broken. By December 2025 they removed the very regulator they had installed earlier that year. I honestly started to wonder if they were just throwing parts at it to see what stuck. The real highlight? Every time my wife tried to shower, I had to reset the unit. It got so predictable that I eventually installed a camera and a home automation system so I could reset it remotely. After 5 visits, hours on the phone with Navian, and 5 failed attempts to resolve the issue, my tankless heater "upgrade" became an IoT project, a topic of frequent dinner discussions, and source for frequent profanity-laced screams as my wife was hit with freezing water in the shower. Don't get me wrong; they tried. It wasn't a lack of effort, rather a lack of know-how. In March 2026, a different plumber came out for an unrelated issue. I mentioned the water heater problem. His Navien specialist came out a few weeks later and -- I want to be precise here -- identified five major installation errors in under 60 seconds. Armed with this additional information, I gave Z Plumbers a final opportunity to make it right. They never responded. I paid the new plumber to fix the mess, and the unit has worked flawlessly ever since. I can run multiple faucets simultaneously with no loss of volume or temperature. It's like having a new water heater -- because effectively, we do. Bottom line: Z Plumbers may be fine for standard plumbing work, but tankless water heaters are a different animal. Based on everything I experienced, I'm convinced they do not have the training or expertise to properly install or troubleshoot these systems. Do yourself a favor and find a better installer. You'll thank yourself every morning.
