When you need your swimmers checked out in Calgary, this is probably the place you have to go…read more This medical building is all related to pregnancy, reproductive issues, and similar medical concerns so everyone is there for many of the same reasons which makes things a little less awkward in the elevator. I showed up for my appointment about 15 minutes early and was greeted right away. I was given a cup and a laminated number and pointed to a door. On the other side of the door is a small hallway with a few numbered rooms. The room I was issued was about 4' x 8'. It had a chair and a sink and an empty magazine rack asking you to put the materials back when finished. I'm guessing with today's technology they don't need to supply the materials anymore. On the back of the door is a coat hook and some basic instructions on what to do. Things like "wash your hands" and "wipe everything down when you're done". You know, instructions that you think would be common sense, but I guess in a clinic like this you can't take any chances. When finished, you take the sample out to reception and put it in a basket and fill out a little piece of paper. A tech from the back was right on it and came out almost immediately to help me when I came out with my cup. Overall a quick and painless, though mildly awkward situation that was done with professionalism and ease.

On separate occasions, two of my family members got their days mixed up and STILL got in relatively quickly (no pun intended). The last time I went, I sat in the waiting room at the end of the hall and watched as countless people had NO idea where they were going. Having suffered the same fate myself the 1st time, I thought I'd post a review for any newcomers. The building is adjacent to the mall. There are two sets of doors and you take the set to the right. Then there will be many, many, many stairs. Which is why I took off a star. This is a bizarre location to ask the ill or mobility-impaired to come to, and is not wheelchair friendly. After the stairs, you will go down one very long hallway. At which point you will think "am I going the right way?". Yes you are. Go down the next very long hallway and eventually the room will be on your left.

To sum it up: - The technical amenities and equipment was exceptional - The experience with the first emergency care was overall positive. Definitely could be faster, but considering how crippled I was, there was no where to rush - once I was placed to the room, I was pleased and surprised by the care I was given by the nurses night shift. They were so amazing! Thank you for making the stay in the hospital so pleasant for me! - waiting time for the surgery was frustrating, however the result was great and the surgeon was super experienced and nice person. - I left the hospital next day after I faked that I have no pain and did my best to perform some tricks with the crutches - what was absolutely terrible was the food. I assume they provide such a shi**y food to make you get out from the hospital soon. Which is an ok strategy I guess. However, I was surprised how unhealthy the food provided in the hospital can be. - last think to mention - pills and pain killers. I couldn't understand the amount of pain killers served to everyone. Either they got some kickback from the Tylenol distributor or they just wan't to drug you so you don't feel pain and get out from the Hospital soon. I took less than half of them but still could easily consider myself a crackhead knowing the amount of Acetaminophen I got into my system... Overall I am very thankful for the care and help. Really shocked to realize how some patients act and behave when the nurses are trying to help them. Shame on you grumpy complainers and hypochondriacs (of all ages).
