I love this park. It's cute and very convenient for getting from the northwest of the city into the city while staying out of the major roads. My main complaint is that it's too small/short, and there aren't more parks like this in Lancaster. I think Lancaster would be greatly enriched by more of these paved bicycle right-of-ways, and perhaps, to expand this park by creating a dedicated bicycle right-of-way in the street extending from one or both ends of the park.
I think this park could be enriched by taking the areas that are not used for playgrounds, and making them more of a natural habitat for wild plants. Some parts of this park, including parts that are not really used for any sort of fun purpose, are carefully landscaped, whereas other parts of them are weedy and overgrown--but in large part by invasive, non-native plants that have little ecological value.
I think that if the city set more of the small greenspace in this park aside as wild habitat, and took the energy and time saved on maintenance of the parts that are currently landscaped, and instead dedicated this towards occasional mechanical removal of some of the non-native species, this park could provide some valuable habitat for plants and animals in this otherwise dense urban part of Lancaster. I also would appreciate it when I walk or bike down this corridor. read more
