We had dinner here tonite and it was the worst service I have ever ha here. I have been eating here for many years and don't plan on coming back. Our waitress was new and after being seated we waited about 15 minutes before I went to ask if we could order drinks. My margarita finally arrived and I specifically told her no salt and mine had salt. We waited another 20 minutes for our food to arrive. We are usually done eating and out the door in about 30-35 minutes. She never came to check on us. I had to flag her down for to go boxes and again when I wanted the check. I'm not a fan of chain restaurants and I probably wouldn't come here, but believe it or not Hillsboro lacks decent Mexican restaurants. I've tried those that are mom-and-pop places, but since I don't speak that much Spanish, I get treated like an idiot! So here I come to this place and my family likes it. Usually, the food here has been very good, but this last time, prompted me to finally write about it. The waiter was not good; kind of rude; and never came to check on anything! I have to say, that alone doesn't make me want to come back, but I probably will, just not as often. While the food was tasty, the service was stinky. First the salsa was good but they only gave us about 3 tablespoons. Literally the tiniest cup of salsa I've ever seen supplied and they couldn't even fill it half way? One of us ordered an a la carte beef burrito. Nowhere in the description did it say it would be smothered in sauce or that beef meant hamburger meat instead of shredded beef. Her tortilla was completely soggy. They don't drain the meat so it was a watery mess. I ordered an enchilada and chalupa combination. The chalupa was a sloppy joke of a mess, and again hamburger meat instead of shredded beef. They didn't even bother chopping the tomato, I got half a slice of the tomato end with a few chopped pieces. Again watery sogged out mess that you couldn't pick up because it broke in the middle from said sog factor. In retrospect I should have just gotten cheese enchiladas, it's the only thing that couldn't be messed up. Also, they stuck us in a boring back room by ourselves when there was seating in the main dining room available. Didn't refill waters at all. The waitress should have communicated preparation that wasn't specified and clarified the beef choices. She did not deserve her tip, but got it anyway. Sloppy, thoughtless food and service. I guarantee they won't care. To boot, the prices are way more expensive than all other Mazatlan locations and the food is horrendous. Most of the food was left on our plates. read more

We've been dining at Mazatlan for years! Lots of tasty choices. This time we tried the fajitas. When they arrived at our table they we sizzling hot, but the smell was not what we had expected. The fajitas appeared to be in a teriyaki type sauce...not the taste we were going for. Slightly sweet and liberally doused with sauce. The waitstaff dropped the food off and then disappeared until someone dropped off the check. I would have sent the meal back to try something else, but didn't have a chance! My wife and I have been going here for years now. Carlos and our favorite waitress Judy have always been just over the top. The food is just incredible. We go to Cabo every year so we can compare it to authentic Mexican food. Their Chili Relleno and Seafood Chimi along with all the other menu items are top notch. The day we walked in it was 92 degrees outside it felt like 85 degrees in the restaurant. This was on a Tuesday at 4:45 pm dinner hour. When we walked in we stood there waiting to be seated for about 5 mins we could see into the restaurant it was not busy at all . There was only 2 tables that was eating dinner. So 3 different waitress & waiter looked at us said nothing 1 said hello the other didn't make eye contact. I should have walked right back out. So finally we are seated it takes them 10 minutes to bring us our drinks mine was a cocktail a blue Hawaiian which was awful!! Very strong & bitter so I told the waiter to get me a coke because my drink was nasty. So instead of taking this drink off the bill or even offering to make a new one he gives me a small glass of pineapple juice to add to it!! My husbands food was tasteless needed seasoning. I ordered the house special New Pork Carnitas 14.95 Tender chunks of pork marinated with special spices & slow simered to perfection. served with guacamole, pico de gallo & fresh green salsa. The pork was not seasoned & very dry & not fresh at all. I ended up eating my refried beans & that's it. Oh the table was very sticky the menu was very sticky & nasty very dirty restaurant went to go wash my hands after touching the drink menu, the ladies bathroom was dirty & nasty smelling. I expected more out of this restaurant because in Portland, Beaverton this chain has excellent food & atmosphere. This place seriously dropped the ball. I will not be back to this restaurant ever again!!! read more

I live in Cornelius and this is one of my favorite restaurants in town. It's inexpensive and the service is always amazing.

Had the Chile Colorado - pretty darn good - big chunks of meat and yummy sauce. The Horchata was home made and unlimited refills. Salsa was good and seemed home made. Price was reasonable and I left full. Service was very nice. I would give it 3.5 if I could - it is above average and decent food (at least what I had) and nice decor. The only reason I don't go higher is I have to reserve the higher marks for places that hit it out of the ball park. read more

My first time going in there today my boyfriend took me on a date so i got all dressed up and was feeling lovely (: the girls that work there are so sweet! always checking on you with a smile and really making the experience! Then on our way out at paying the bill the girl said that i was gorgeous and had beautiful glowing skin it was really nice to be paid that compliment. made my day! oh and of course the food soooo cheap! three enchiladas rice and beans for like $10 :D couldnt be more happy!! read more

I come here often for some good Mexican food. I love a lot of the seafood dishes, as well as the horchata, jamaica, and tamarindo. While working for mom, it's very convenient for me to grab something from here, then take it to her and split a meal. I do find the meals are a bit big for one person, but it makes it that much easier to share. The people here are always great and I love that atmosphere. I've been coming here since I could remember, to celebrate everything. And I hope to be coming here to celebrate everything else! read more

Sorry, but the food was truly lacking unless you like gloppy flavorless cheese melted on gloppy flavorless entrees.. Mazatlan says they prepare "authentic" Mexican food. Wrong, though that may be be true in White Bread Idaho. I'm from San Diego and recently moved to Portland/Beaverton. This was some of the worst Mexican food I've tried since moving here. The drinks are good, the food is better, and they offer great service. Servers are friendly, efficient and welcoming. My favorite is the chicken a la crema. The sauce is thick and has a tang to it that works really well with the overall flavor. They also sell their house salsa up to 32 ounces at a time. Soooo good! read more

Been coming to this location for six years, went to the one on Cornell for six years prior, the worst service ever. Been here thirty minutes had to beg for a glass of water, asked there different people, ten minutes after being served chips and salsa and when asked for more water was asked" more water?" Yes and now I'm again needing water. Not coming back. Worst dinner ever, dried beans, picked up my taco, nope, asked for new taco they brought be a shell? So now I'm supposed to make my own taco? When I paid the poor kid asked how everything was, when I explained you shouldn't sit people and give them hot salsa without water he said "sorry mam we've been very busy." No excuse, if you don't live in this area just know if you move here you will unfortunately have to travel to Portland for a good meal. Please someone open up a restaurant in this area with good food, I will look past the service if good is good read more

What the heck... We LOVE the Mazatlan off of TV Hwy, heck we even somewhat like the one off 185th so we musta gone on an off night because almost everything about this place was not so good.  It really wasn't too busy but the waiter acted as if he was so put off by us it was ridiculous; we practically needed a flare gun to get his attention... personally I think he was "hangry" (so hungry he was irritable/angry) cause I did see him trying to eat quickly as we were leaving.  If that's the case I can get over it; but the food really was nothing to get excited about to counter act...not even a little bit... which is a bummer cause it takes a lot to mess up Americanized Mexincan food in this gals book. hello--I sometimes get (and enjoy) freakin' Taco Bell.  Not to mention I got a chicken tostada, how the hell do you mess that up??!Anyways the chips and salsa were my only saving grace so that I didn't  leave "hangry"... its still up for debate if we will give this joint another try or wave as we pass by on our way to TB read more

This restaurant is alright the waitress sits you down and gives you salsa and chips 5 minutes after. They take around 10 minutes to get your food ready average time. The food is alright but there is little selection most of the dishes are just repeated some prepared and arranged differently. It's roomy but when there's a ton of people it can get cramped and really hot inside. I would eat again since there's not many Mexican restaurants located around. read more

Some of the worst food we have ever had. And all we had was rice, beans, and an onion and cheese enchilada. I didn't realize you could mess this up! The beans either had some kind of wine in them, or soap, or were just rancid. The rice was very very bland and the cheese enchilada was nothing to talk about. Edible. Barely. The service was dispicable. Took over 10 minutes to get water. Another 10 for chips and salsa. Another 10 before we could order. No water refills. Asked for a chip refill when the food arrived and not only did we get an eyeroll, we never got the chips although three other tables got chip refills who arrived after us. Mind you, they had a bunch of people on staff and were not very busy. The "blonde" waitress was very rude when we asked for the beans to be removed from our bill. We explained why and her excuse was "these are the same beans we serve everyone" yet she refused to taste them when we asked her too. Makes it seem a little fishy to me. We will NOT be coming back. We rarely ever have to spit food out and get it removed from the bill. Even taco bell is better. read more

My husband and I went here today and were not impressed. First of all, when we sat down to the table I noticed that my fork was dirty and there were mint wrappers in the sugar tray. OK, no big deal. The service was horrible. We had to ask more than once for salsa to be brought to the table (it didn't come when we asked for some with our entrees). We also ordered an appetizer that was never brought to the table. Nor did we have a refill on drinks the entire time. My husband had the super burrito combo which he thought was ok. I ordered the seafood burrito and couldn't eat it. I am not a picky person, but I wasn't expecting what I found on my plate. The first bite had the most overwhelming fishy flavor so I took my fork and dug out some filling. I found some shredded goop (crab??? fish???), with miniature scallops and what looked like baby canned shrimp. It was covered in some kind of red gooey sauce. I always try to order fish/seafood dishes when I go out for Mexican food and have never seen or tasted anything like this in my life. They did offer to bring something else when I gave them my honest opinion of the food. No thanks! Needless to say, we will not be going back there again. We will stick to the authentic Mexican restaurants and taco trucks in the area. read more

We have lived in Cornelius for @ 5 years now and have found it difficult to find really good places to eat. When we stopped in to try out Mazatlan not long after we had moved to the area we were impressed with both the food and the service (not always easy to get together)!!!! I'm not one to eat dinner out much anymore but we find ourselves returning here on a regular basis. My husband and I have both tried numerous things on the menu and have yet had anything we didn't enjoy. read more

The food is good but what makes it great is the service. I love walking in and seeing the smile on the hostess face Sonya I think her name is and always asks you how you are, that just makes my day. And the waitresses are so nice, but the new one I don't know her name is simple well "new" cause she almost always messes our order and is really slow taking our order. last 3 timse we were there 2 times Sonya took our order and last time Adriana did. But over all the food is great i love it. I also like the one on Aloha and Portland but I go here because of the hostess.. Guys you just have to go and say hello!!!!! Where to start I have to say I dislike writting reviews for restaurants for less the 3 stars because it takes effort on any business owner to run a place and I understand that but when I would rather go to dinner at a McDonald's then a sit in restaurant there is something wrong. The place which I have been going to for years looks like they have forgot to clean it for just as long the seats are torn the walls have weird stains on them the menus are sticky and gross the bathroom is disgusting even for a men's bathroom it's bad. It is so loud in there no matter the time of day but what has really gotten to me is the quality of food I always put up with this place because of the proximity to my home but my god has this place gone down hill. I absolutely won't be coming back and would urge people to avoid it like the plague. Its a busy place and there are always people going here because well it's cheap Mexican food but please people go to any Mexican supermarket and get much much better food then this place. My daughter and I just finished having dinner at this Mazatlán, as it used to be on our list of close-by sit in restaurants to have a quick delicious dinner. However, tonight was beyond disappointing. The food was just okay...a cheese enchilada and a taco salad. The taco salad was dripping with grease and a whole head of lettuce without much cheese or other salad ingredients. This was not the disappointing part, as we ate, we noticed the busser cleaning tables around us, then looked at our own table top. We became immediately nauseas as our table was greasy and streaked with sticky substance. The busser was wipping the other tables, then the benches, then back to the table top then to the floor to pick up food that had spilled onto the floor. We immediately began to think of all types of people sitting on those benches, perhaps with greasy, dirty work clothes or whatever. ?? We never saw her use a clean cloth. However, we did notice how hard she was working and gave her kudos for that. We just wished that even if we had a paper placemat under our plates we would feel better. What is very concerning is, if this is the lack of cleanliness we are able to see out in the restaurant, what must be happening or not happening in the kitchen? We couldn't finish our food. I know this is a family run business and would hope they would insist on cleanliness, the staff were all so busy and the manager was very friendly (as always). I really felt sad for the whole family, and wished they would be on top of these issues. I am afraid that we will be unable to stomach eating there again. So Sad. read more
