Ah, end-of-semester in Forest Grove: The temperatures rise, the sun emerges from hiding, and a certain class of local customer vents its spleen about reasonable levels of service that they've taken as personal slights and affronts to their character. Corona, unfortunately, is a magnet for this type of individual. A counter-service taqueria that prides itself on a robust menu (including a college-town eating contest involving a burrito roughly the size of an anaconda), party cocktails (snake-green margarita with energy drink, anyone?), and a festive atmosphere of live music, theme parties, comedy, and karaoke. It's a place that's typically a beloved college-town staple, but has its rating knocked down a few pegs around this time of year by disgruntled customers looking to settle scores. Armed with petty resentments stemming from an occasion when the restaurant confiscated their fake ID, cut off alcohol service to them and their pre-gamed and over served friends, or booted them out of the place for being their worst selves, these folks will navigate a platform's rules to insist that--suddenly and swiftly--the quality of its food/drinks/service has gone into the toilet. Well, despite what the end-of-semester tide of vitriol indicates, Corona is every bit what it once was... even if that fairly low bar was near-campus party restaurant. The food is neither the best nor worst in this corner of Washington County (amid strong competition), the drinks tend toward goofy hummingbird feed but are still as inexpensive and potent as campus adjacency would suggest, and the service holds up remarkably well for a staff that's regularly dealing with clientele that's still approaching the world in its service-industry training wheels. A rural college town can be a difficult setting for any restaurant. You're asked to cater to more cosmopolitan diets that the surrounding area typically addresses and, at the same time, are asked to please a clientele that chooses its entrees based on photographs of food included with the menu. If there's a middle ground, it seldom shows up in reviews. But Corona has weathered far worse than seasonal agitation--it was nearly destroyed by an arsonist in 2023--and continues to provide a more consistent menu and community space than the end-of-semester screeds suggest. It's difficult to please everyone in this kind of college town, but Tacqueria Corona has become exactly the resilient staple Forest Grove and Pacific students (and faculty) deserve. read more

Start off by mentioning that the food was ok. My experience at this restaurant has not been a great one. Went back today to give it another shot after making an order online where I was accidentally charged a tip, besides their online order fee. Today was a similar experience where I made an order over the phone to have a quick pick up. Unfortunately 20 min after the call I show up to pay food was not ready and so I continued to wait. I was asked to pay over the phone so maybe they didn't start the order until I got there? This is not good for a customer. After 40 min or so I got my food. There was no one else there ordering food besides the people that had time to get their food and eat all while I waited. So if you want to wait a long time for ok food this is the place. read more

When you arrive, go all the way to the back of the restaurant to order. There are signs everywhere....hand written menu items taped up in every spot and overwhelming and feels unorganized. If you bought a Groupon, they won't use the paper copy you print but then they "don't know" the wifi password so using it on the app or website proves almost impossible. Service is so bad in there that you need the wifi....I went out in the pouring rain to the corner of the street to try and get service to load the Groupon. Even though the Groupon says you can use it on "food and drink" the restaurant told me we couldn't use it on alcohol. No where does it say that on their Groupon. Finally, the prices of their food was high especially considering you don't really get any service to your table, had to find napkins, and you have to pay for chips and salsa. I went to order a virgin strawberry daiquiri and it was $12. The reason this place isn't getting 1 star from me is that the food was fine and not bad at all. read more

I had big hopes for this place! We had eaten from here twice before and it was decent food. I had enjoyed that they had vegetarian options for everything. Recently, we got a corona veggie burrito that was so tasty previously. Unfortunately what I got this time was a huge burrito just filled with over salted rice. No grilled veggies or avocado or anything remotely resembling a vegetable. A handful of lettuce with a scoop of sour cream does not make a veggie burrito. My wife and I had a chance to go out the other night so we decided to give this place another shot. We walked in and were met by fans which were kind of loud but we were glad they had them because it was hot outside. We walked to the counter to place our order and get drinks immediately. We ordered the chile relleno and cheese enchiladas, and we both got a spicy margarita. We sat down in the back room and waited for our food. It was open mic night and they were getting stuff ready on stage, and we were pretty excited to see some people perform. After about 5 minutes we got our drinks and they were as advertised, "famous". They tasted really good, a little sweet for me, but good sized for sure. After about 10 minutes we still hadn't gotten water or our chips yet so I went back to the counter to see if I needed to order chips or ask for water and the lady told me she would bring it to our table. So we waited a little longer. As our food was coming out, so was our chips which was weird, but at least we got them. My wife was not a huge fan of the salsa, she said it tasted like a lot of nutmeg. I thought it was more of a chipotle ketchup. It also came out in a little tiny cup. Could barely dip a chip in it. The plates were decent sized. Good amounts of food. Cheese enchiladas were good flavor wise, sauce was delicious. They could have been hotter, the cheese wasn't fully melted. The chile relleno's were a little different. No breading. Not fried. Just grilled and in the enchilada sauce. Still delicious, and I actually enjoyed it. But it was different for me. Tomato tasted fresh on the side. Beans were smooth and delicious. I'm not sure what changed in the last year or so but the burritos are no longer as good. They tacos are what you're going to want to get. My husband and I came here on a Sunday afternoon after visiting another local Mexican restaurant where the service was abominable. We'd never been to a restaurant where you order food from the kitchen but we thought we'd try it as there weren't many options available. There were several people standing in line waiting for their food so we thought this must be a good place. The hostess was smiling and attentive and after ordering we sat down in one of the many cozy booths. We took a look around and really liked the colorful decor, murals and authentic Mexican music. A few mins later the server came over and gave us water and our drinks. After about 15 minutes the woman who took our order came with our food and it was hot and delicious. There were so much on my plate I had to take it home. We had a great experience here and will definitely be coming back. read more

The owners have changed, the service was nice and they have mostly the same stuff the on the menu that previous owners had. We ordered a asada torta that would have been amazing if the bread hadn't tasted stale. My sister got 2 tacos del pastor and they were pretty salty. I ordered the gorditas and was told they didn't have them, they could make sopes instead (is similar). But when the order came to my surprise they had made the gorditas, unfortunately since they must have made them in a hurry the dough was not fully cooked and the outside of the gorditas was super greasy. They were huge tho and I ended up eating just the insides of it. My sister also got a margarita and she said it was super strong . Will be giving this place another try read more
