A delightful, family-owned eatery by the river Ness in quaint Inverness. The place is very small with just a few tables, so we put our name down for dinner and then popped out to enjoy some street-side wine during sunset while other guests cleared out. The restaurant prioritizes local seafood, livestock, and produce prepared in a simple but refined way. The soup of the day was a rich and buttery cauliflower bisque that was decadent and soul-warming. My Speyside venison entrée with parsnip puree, mushrooms, roast potatoes, and a port reduction was rustic and satisfying. The grass-fed deer had great flavor, though it was on the chewier side; but maybe I'm just used to over-plumped American meat. It was a pleasant meal with nice wine and great conversation, and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone passing through Inverness. read more
