Beautiful park in a upscale looking neighborhood. Very well maintained with a large playground, grass field and tennis court. Some water where kids were playing and people were lounging by. Parking wherever on the sides you can find a spot.

I needed to invest some time while waiting for my next appointment in the area. Instead of sitting in the parking lot, I decided to search Yelp for a park and to my surprise this one was real close. I had over 1000 steps to complete before reaching my goal for the day, so I took advantage of the trail. It is very nice and well kept. They have several pavilions (nice for those wanting to grab meals curbside and enjoy the park), a space for dogs to exercise, playground, and tennis court. It was hot out but I enjoyed the peace of nature.

Homewood Park is one of my favorite parks in Birmingham. It is a great place for a picnic with open green space as well as picnic tables. There are also tennis courts and a large playground. It is an easy walk from the park to the library as well as Little Donkey Mexican restaurant, Steel City Pops and Nabeels. There is a parking lot but it is sometimes difficult finding a space especially if events are happening in the park. Street parking is available.

51/2 stars!!! I definitely want to live in Homewood. Doesn't this #1 park prove it's the best neighborhood? Even has an amphitheater. The stone work is beautiful and there are 2 bridges. My favorite park so far.

My children and I were back in the Homewood area and needed a break from the long drive and day we'd spent at the doctors office so I was iso somewhere they could burn some energy. Plus their grandparents are often in the area so we wanted to be close by in case they wanted to meet up. Anyway we stopped in to find it's a wonderful community center with a great atmosphere. Everything from the park itself to the restrooms and all of the playground equipment is very clean and well kept. We had a great time and it's a wonderful place to have a picnic lunch, go for a walk, lots of families and people with pets out and about. There's also lots of great restaurants nearby. If you get the chance to go definitely take it!!!!

I stopped at Homewood Central Park this morning to read for a while. With my cup of O'Henry's dark roast, I found a bench, where I spent much more time enjoying the great weather and beautiful scenery than reading. An older man and a younger man brought a pug to the park to chase frisbees with. The frisbee was as big as the dog. At one point the older man held his dog up to drink from the stream of water overshooting the water fountain basin. A younger kid was learning how to ride a bike with training wheels. I spent time watching squirrels jump from tree to tree. This park is a great spot in the middle of Homewood to relax, run, eat, read, or just watch people.

After eating a nice meal at Homewood Diner I decided to come across the street and take a quick walk in Homewood Park. This is an amazing park in that it's scenic and nestled in an older, well maintained, upper middle class neighborhood. It has a walking trail, eating areas and benches. A children's play area, and lots of mature trees to provide ample shade. It's right across the street from small boutique stores (one of which is an old fashioned ice cream shop) and a small store. I enjoyed it.

A little symphony orchestra action on a nice fall evening in the park.

By far my favorite park in Birmingham and the best place to take my toddler on any nice weather days.

They have two full tennis courts that are decent and a half basketball court that is off to the side of the tennis courts and shares the same fenced in area. There is ample parking here at the park, but I can see how during large events that parking could become scarce. They have two lots; one is located by the tennis courts and other is shared with the Jewish Chabad Center next door. The main section of the park is completely fenced in and has a small picnic shelter with tables under it, a decent paved 2/10 of a mile walking trail, a restroom facility, benches, and a couple of picnic tables. There is a bunch of shade in this area and green space in the center where you could hold a picnic, play catch or relax on. You will also see a borrow a book box and a story trail in the are as well The are also has a playground area that is on a bed of wood chips and has traditional swings, toddler swings, tire swings, a medium sized jungle gym with a slide, A fire truck themed jungle gym with a couple of slides, a merry-go-round, and a jungle gym with monkey bars and rock climbing. The equipment is in decent shape and looked like kids would have a lot of fun here. Because the area is fenced in, it is popular for those with dogs. Even though they have many signs posted to tell you to keep your dogs on a leash, I saw a few people that did not while I was there. This is a very nice park that has a lot to offer. I love the shade that it has. Even though it is located off of a busy road, I still found it peaceful. This place is a diamond in the rough and you should really consider coming here if you are looking for a park to visit.

While…read morevisiting Alabama, my friends and I decided to spend a couple of hours here and ended up hiking about 5-6 miles. There's truly no shortage of trails, and the variety keeps things interesting the entire time. The park definitely offers some challenging uphill climbs--especially for us Florida girls who aren't used to elevation--but we powered through and felt very accomplished. One of my favorite highlights was Rushing Rendezvous; the idea of a suspension bridge tucked up in the treetops always excites me, and this one did not disappoint. Of course, when we saw Trail 5 marked as most difficult, it was a no‑brainer--we had to take it. I really enjoyed reading about the history along the way, especially learning more about the Birmingham Mineral Railroad site. I do wish there had been a bit more signage around some of the remaining structures so we could soak up even more history, but honestly, guessing their original purpose became part of the fun. Hands down, I would absolutely come back to explore more of Red Mountain Park. It's a great mix of challenge, scenery, and history--and well worth the visit.
