When I played, we had had an unseasonable amount of rain lately, and it was pretty soppy out there. Cart path only, and I think many un-intentional hazards around. Will definitely try it again based on my experience. This was one of those days that even though it was winter, and there was quite a bit of rain lately, a lot of people were trying to play, as it was the first golfable day in awhile. Because of this, the first tee was backed up, but was happy with the pace of play after that. This course is pretty old, original construction in the 1930s, so it is not long by today's standards. It is however, technical. Smart golfers here will opt to NOT use driver on many of the holes, as shot placement is much more important than distance. There are eagle opportunities here for big hitters that also have control (i.e. the 1% of golfers) There is a lot of slope. In some cases, being short on your approach can result in your ball rolling back 30 yards or more. Some of the greens as well are very challenging, but even in the winter, pretty well kept. Primary defenses here are the slope, the greens, and the placement of some bunkers. There is even a par 3 where you're going to have a hard time choosing a club, because the green is so far below the teebox. Overall, this course was a great value, and I would certainly come back and play again. I'll update my review when I do, hopefully the conditions will be better!

This was the first time for the others but they have all played other Stranz courses, like Tobacco Road, True Bill & Caledonia. Like any other course, you'll experience some challenges your first time around and after that, you will play some holes completely different. This is rural Carolina golf in Randolph County and it feels like it. The word is of all the Stranz courses, this was his favorite and it's easy to see why. It's so plush and green, the natural landscape is scattered with boulders that are designed to create exceptional views. I especially like there are 5, yes FIVE Par 3's, all reasonable short and accessible. The Waterfall hole #15 is a work of golf art, just spectacular. It was a great experience from the beginning. Ron, the starter and car attendant helped us with our bags and was very friendly and professional. Jack & Keith in the clubhouse got us checked in quickly and directed us back to Ron to give us the low down on current course conditions, pace of play, cart operation etc. They are EV's with GPS included. When Ron told us about the 'out of bounds' play guidelines and recommended we not go in the woods and mentioned rattlesnakes and copperheads, that got our attention.

Long story short 5 days later I stopped by Carolina Golf Mart and it was in the shop for sale. I inquired about the driver. After describing the color of shaft tape I had installed...the owner Bob knew it was indeed my missing driver. I offered to purchase it back and he wouldn't allow me. He took the sale label off and gave it to me missing out on a $599 sale. I can't say enough great things about this establishment and Bob!!!!!!!! He showed me my choices of grips ( alot of choices), and gave me his professional recommendation, which turned out to be AMAZINGLY perfect! He informed me that he was able to take care of me right away while I waited, so I went out to the practice area to hit a bucket of balls. Once I came back inside, about 45 minutes later, my clubs were READY! I had saved some balls, so I could "test em out" right way. I honestly have NEVER hit these 3 clubs as well as I did with the new grips. They REALLY make such a BIG difference. The price was quite reasonable, and I am 100% satisfied. Though they raised the weekly pay by a dollar, you still get the same food and game discounts. The environment hasn't really changed much since missing two seasons, despite there being a few newcomers to the league. If you want to just have fun bowling, this is the league for you. I forgot to mention the various changes since I left. New gutters and automatic bumpers, new seating, new ball returns, new ball racks and flipped masking units. I have to say my first two weeks of league (excluding my third, which I prebowled) were a lot of fun, considering the people on my team and their personalities.

The credits are higher for the better games so keep that in mind if only throwing $10 (100 credits) on a game card - one play for the hoops game deducted around 22 credits. I saw a few pizzas being delivered, but there's not any food served here. No alcohol either, encouraging the purest fun for kids of all ages (including big kids, like myself lol). My only recommendation would be that ventilation for the kart area which is the main entrance be improved. The smell of gas was stronger by the time I left from when I'd first walked in. Overall, it's not something that would keep me from trying out this place again.

They make meals onsite (pizza and wings) and offer a variety of beverages (Coke products). There is also ping pong and corn hole in the meeting room. They thoroughly review safety and the rules of riding. It's a great place for children and adults. The go karts go up to 50 mph and can really handle the curves. The weird side entrance was almost hidden and scary, unsure of if I was walking into a warehouse. The whole area inside has not been cleaned since the year 2000, no toilet paper in the restroom, skates were moldy smelling. I slid on something brown while skating (looked like a cigarette filter) and then almost tumbled because of my wheels hitting one of the multiple divits in the cement; yes, it's a cement warehouse floor. You pay on the right and then go to the left to trade your shoes for skates and upon returning your skates, the employee will spray Lysol in the air (none touched the shoes). The whole place has a sad, tired, liminal feel. I would definitely get out of there before dark because I saw 3 people walk through the skate parking lot that you could tell were searching for their next freebie.
