Do not use this company. Awful measurements, missing doors, their BBB rating was a D- until the joined. Now its an A+

I was apprehensive with who might be able to do justice and not ruin them. I took a shot with GKH furniture repair and restoration. I'd seen the reviews, and I now can say the reviews weren't exaggerated. When I first called Greg last November he was honest about the time fragment it would take. I unfortunately called during the holidays, which was not good. I later called in March, amd he told me then, sort of leveling with me that this sort of work takes time, like 4-6 months. It wasn't a bad wait and I was patient. The saying goes, "all good things come to those who wait," and it's true if you want a master to handle your antiques. I've sanded, stained wood before, and it's no easy task. It's a time-consuming endeavor, and I also didn't trust myself restoring antique bookcases. In retrospect the price was reasonable for the result. I now have an admirable place to keep my Ulysses, and restored bookcases my ancestors would be proud of.

We found out about GNC Carpenters on Facebook randomly due to their relationship with Children's…read moreMercy Hospital. Before using GNC Carpenters, we had tried two other businesses that were recommended to us. One business was privately owned and the other was All Dimensions Flooring. Both businesses would act like they were eager to do the work but then would never call me back. Therefore, I decided to give this business that I had never heard of a try. The work GNC did was build a sub-floor in our laundry room and install new flooring. I cannot say enough about their responsiveness and the quality of work. Due to my prior experience with the other businesses, I was a little nervous about using someone who I knew very little about and had not been recommended to us by anyone. However, Meghan, one of the owners was always just a text or email away. I even found out the owners had just had a newborn only a week or two earlier and yet they were still incredibly responsive. The estimate they gave me before doing the work was very reasonable and the ultimate invoice was substantially under the estimate (I'm sure this doesn't happen all that often but what a nice surprise!). Additionally, it was less than two weeks from the time I initially called to request the estimate to the time the work was completed.

They damaged the plaster walls, had major gouges and streaks in the floors as well as uneven staining and blames it all on being an old house. Even though he drug our refrigerator across the floor to a porch which caused the scratches and streaks. He didnt even attempt to finish the job. After he knew how upset we were he packed up his stuff and left the key on the floor. Now they won't return our calls. We gave them $2800 the first week of work when the estimate total was $3200. Fully expecting beautiful, finished floors. Instead we've had to call another company to come and redo the floors entirely as they were scratched and done so badly. We paid almost $3000 for a painted master, shelves in a small linen closet, and ruined floors. Needless to say, we want our money back!!!!!!

They do wonderful drywall, concrete, electric, and plumbing work for a fair price, they keep on schedule, and they don't make excuses. It's a little difficult to find a good remodeling contractor north of the river but we found an excellent one when we hired Artisan Construction. They did very professional work for us and responded to all of our questions, as well as providing valuable guidance toward achieving our remodeling goals.

We called Artisan Construction as they now have a home repair specialist. Artisan sent out a man who not only completed the project perfectly (after a few trips to the local hardware store), but was very detailed and cared about what the end result looked like. He wanted to paint the trim he had replaced, but my husband did not know where to find the paint swatch for the new paint. (The window guys- At Windura) not only took some paint off the house while replacing windows, but they never offered to correct it afterwards! ) I will call Artisan for our next house repair project as I know they will take care of whatever we have for them with the same expertise as they did replacing our shingles.
