Saturdays are really busy so was glad I decided last minute to book a table. The menu is filled with sandwiches, bagels, paninis etc and all come with soup for £5.95 which is a bargain when you see the portions. However the most popular order seemed to be the high tea for two, which at £5 per person is amazing! The atmosphere is lovely, with a mix of couple, familes and quite a few grannies being treated to tea and cakes by their grandkids. The decor is nothing fancy, but the setting and welcoming staff easily makes up for it There is fabulous selection of Suki teas and homemade baking. Soups of the day this week were tomato with basil and potato and leek. Last wee I tried the curried butternut squash which was amazing! The setting is lovely and the food is well worth the 15min drive from Dennistoun. There is a garden centre and lovely views onto the loch so you could easily spend a few hours over a coffee, chatting and escaping city life. I can't speak highly enough of this place and look forward to making myself a regular! https://www.facebook.com/pages/Tea-House-On-The-Loch/141357772588944?fref=ts

The wine list is replete with moderately priced wines; honestly we would have been willing to pay more for a couple of even better alternatives, but I would not classify that as a complaint. The wife ordered their "Fisherman" which is pan seared Scottish coley or pollock (for 27 GBP). The battered fish with the chips was more delicately done here and delicious. As an aside I tried several times to find a place here in Glasgow or in Edinburgh that did a "special" fish and chips, that is breaded with crumbs and not battered, but apparently no one does that healthier old school preparation anymore (and I need to inform my old work colleague who hailed from Glasgow and gave me this inside tip that it's not practiced anymore). I also had a Chieftain IPA. The side of peas were dryish and not flavorful and small portioned and not done as well and tasty as I have had in London or Perth, just saying. We also had their sticky toffee pudding with ice cream for dessert and that was good. The fries were mediocre. Server was friendly and attentive. 4 stars overall and a nice local flavor Glasgow outing.

It was...alright I guess,But what did I expect from a big chain resteraunt. I was seated down about 10 mins after I arrived,so I just waited at the bar.It took so long to get a drink that as soon as I recieved my diet coke,it was time to go to our table! I sat down and the first thing I noticed was the NOISE! It was just so noisy! I had to go to the toilets just to get peace from all the screaming and shouting that was going on in the main part of the resteraunt! Some people were just letting their children scream without even agowledging that they were even there! This left me with sore ears because of my ear condition. To be fair their is nothing mutch the staff can do about screaming children. Itr didn't take too long for my meal to arrive. I had the Barbeque Burger which was mediocre, there was nothing special about it. The fries it came with were quite tasty though. The desert took a little longer to arrive but it was worth it! The Apple & Rasberry Crumble was delish! It was so good! It probably had tons of calories in there or something but it just seemed perfect! It was a decent sized portion too! was really quite sweet and had none of those annoying little rasberry seeds that get stuck in your teeth. Great way to finish your meal! After that it took awhile to get the waitors attention for the bill. He said that he would give us it in about 2 minutes,we waited for like 25 mins for him to remember that he was to get us the bill! I saw the price and noticed that it was quite expencive. All in all, I reccomend maybe paying a visit if you can tolerate noise and you like this sort of American/Italian themed dining experience.

Was here today for lunch and turned up very hungry indeed…read more When we were eventually served after about 10 minutes - the waiter was lovely and very apologetic about the wait. However when the food arrived it it was average. A chicken Caesar wrap which was tasty enough but at £6.95 for a wrap my expectations were high. Coffee wasn't great either. I wouldn't recommend this place for lunch.

We went for lunch about 1.30ish on Friday afternoon. It was really busy but luckily there was a table free. The lunch menu is £14.50 for 2 courses and I thought it was really good value. The food was sublime (not what you would expect in Uddingston!). I had a Butternut Squash Veloute with a poached egg and some a parmesan twill. Watching all the food programmes going, I had saw this made a few times and always wanted to try it. It was soooo good. Basically it is just a fancy soup but the beautiful poached egg and the veloute were so delicious and creamy. I then had slow braised beef with mash potatoes, glazed vegetables and gravy. There was a huge portion of delicious soft beef. The mash was creamy and yummy. All in all, it was one of the best dishes I have had in a long time. We then shared a Banana sticky toffee pudding as we were too full to have one each. The sponge was lovely and soft and the bananas were caramelised on top. Truth be told, I could have probably ate this myself looking back. Staff were lovely and attentive. I never tried any wine but they had an extensive list. Go here if you want amazing food at a reasonable price.

I thought I had written this review ages ago but somehow must have forgotten. A couple of months…read moreago I attempted to go for some food here and very quickly changed my mind. I was a fan of this chain many many years ago when it first hit Glasgow, but over time the gloss came off the city centre location as the food quality went down and the prices stayed very high. I have now not been in years. The one at the Fort has not done anything to improve my view of the chain. On entering it was very very dark inside. They seemed to have cut out all natural light. Which on a sunny day is not what you want. We got shown to our seats and I immediately started to think of an escape plan. The place was really dirty. Nasty sticky seats, sticky tables and menus caked in old food. I could not stay, we got up and left and went elsewhere for food. I can't imagine going back here, but If I did I would be taking my own antibacterial spray with me to clean up before eating. The place needs a good scrub.

Its a lot more roomy inside, has more booth seats which is always a plus and more room between tables. On a Saturday night around 6pm it wasn't too busy and we were seated straight away at one of the booths. A few bottomless soft drinks whilst we browsed the menu were brought over quickly by a super friendly waitress. The menu has the classic American diner style option, burgers, ribs, fajitas but also some pasta and tapas so there's something to suit most tastes. I opted for the veggie burger with salad instead of chips. The brioche bun was nice and sweet and I liked the fact that I got a proper size portion of salad with different leaves with dressing on the side. As for the veggie burger itself, I'm probably spoiled from having some good ones in Burger city Glasgow, it was tasty enough but not anything to write home about. My folks and sister had burgers and chicken dippers with chips or sweet potato chips, and they all thoroughly enjoyed them. My dads usually a pretty healthy eater but splashed out on one with bacon, beef and cheese which he proclaimed fantastic. No way was I passing up dessert, but from previous experiences I know the desserts can be pretty substantial so we ordered one chocolate fudge fixation cake with ice-cream with some spoons to share. I dominated the chocolate fudge ganache topping and fudge (which tastes like actual fudge) filling. It might not be healthy or particularly fine dining but it was blooming tasty. Price wise it was as you'd expect and although it might not be my top choice of venue, its somewhere I'll likely return... mmm that cake.
