Super cute place! We just arrived to Glasgow and I was hoping for a traditional Scottish vibe and food and this didn't disappoint. The server was super sweet and recommended the burger with haggis and my husband ordered the fish and chips. It was quaint with delicious food. Definitely give it a try.
Amazing place! From the small details such as embroidered table cloths and dainty plates and flowers , a clever menu. And fabulous food, this place checks all the boxes. I had the fish and chips ----so good and sooooo crispy----and my partner had the steak pie which he raved about! I'd love To come back.
7pm reservation, we were seated immediately. The menu is clever and there really seems to be something for everyone. My frittata was light but full of fresh piping hot vegetables. The wine list is replete with moderately priced wines; honestly we would have been willing to pay more for a couple of even better alternatives, but I would not classify that as a complaint. Service was friendly and attentive and this restaurant is so eclectic and fun.
We were intrigued by the name. The menu was cleverly written. I made a red via the app and asked to sit in the room with music. The hostess was snarky but once we sat the waitress was lovely and we were able to move to the music room before it started. Food was interesting. Good combinations were not used to.
Went in for Brunch and got the afternoon tea with Prosecco. Loved it! Very cute tea room and the food was really good and filling. Good value, too, even with the Prosecco upgrade.
A lovely and authentic pub experience! I felt comfortable from the start noticing what seemed to be many locals amongst the patrons. Birthdays, friends meeting up. They have events regularly throughout the week and tonight was an open mic night. Thankfully we had a beautiful acoustic guitar player and singer. On to the food! My mom had a ham and pea soup. She said it was good but could have used a bit more salt. The bread was very fine. We both got nice drinks, and I got the fish and chips. Best chips I've had on my trip so far! She had a warm salmon salad that she said was delicious as well. We also had a blackberry bramble with creme and a shortbread cookie that was light and amazingly tasty.
Cozy dining room area a bar next door. Ali has a tea too with a separate venue. We ordered a burger (19 pounds), chicken and leek soup (6.5 pounds) and warm smoked salmon salads (11.5-starter size). Burger was decent size and so was the starter salad. Server not as friendly as other places so 4.0 Rating for the food.
Made a reservation for a Friday night dinner and happy I did as the dining room is small. We were quickly seated and had a wonderful waitress. I began with a local IPA which was quite good and since we came for the fish and chips, that is what my husband and I both ordered. He started with a richly flavored tomato soup, served with two huge slabs of white bread (like no other white bread I have had) with butter. Our fish was huge and perfectly battered. It was served with mushy peas (meh ) and crispy large fries. Fries were worth writing home about so I am! Not greasy at all. Ambiance is lovely and despite 5ere being a crowded bar on the other side of the curtain, it had no impact on our dining experience. What a lovely place and near to our hotel. They also have an upstairs tea room which, if time permits, we may return to.

I had bookmarked this place for dinner, but when we got to town earlier than expected, we decided to have lunch here instead. The restaurant is downstairs, and the tea room is upstairs. The restaurant décor is chic-shabby, living-room style, with a couple couches strewn about, and tables you used to have at your Mom's house. It was not the warm welcome we were expecting when we first walked in "We're not open yet!", so we went upstairs, who told us that yes, the bar is actually open and available for cocktails. So back downstairs we went. While still not friendly, we were able to get drinks in a timely manner. Lunch started at noon, so we moved from the bar to a table. Our server had finally warmed up to us, and was quite efficient. I went with a frittata and salad. This was my first experience with "rocket" a green which is very similar to arugula, one of my least favorite greens. This ended up being the salad green that was served with every meal all over Scotland and Ireland, unfortunately. I really liked how fresh tasting my frittata was, though, and the portion was huge. Also - the menu was hilarious, so its worth going here just for a read of that.
Super tasty! On my visit, we ordered many things from the menu, the Sunday roast dinner, pork bites in maple syrup, and pudding. Everything was great. We also shared a giant endless pot of tea. This place is really a special place, the day's menu is full of charm, and the service is excellent. When I was there, the dining area was quiet with plenty of available seating, definitely not a cramped place! I hope to return sometime, it was a great experience, food and all. I liked it so much I picked up a couple of their shirts to keep the memory. read more

Visiting Glasgow and used a recommendation from a guide and it did not disappoint! Cute restaurant with a great vibe. But make a reservation as they get busy. Live music was fun. Service was attentive without overdoing it. Food was simply amazing! Splurge for the dessert read more
This was a higher rated local pub we tried and about a 12 minute walk from our Hilton. It was early at 5:00pm and not busy. 3 of the 4 of us ordered the fish and chips (17.95 GBP) just to try another joint. The wife ordered their "Fisherman" which is pan seared Scottish coley or pollock (for 27 GBP). The battered fish with the chips was more delicately done here and delicious. As an aside I tried several times to find a place here in Glasgow or in Edinburgh that did a "special" fish and chips, that is breaded with crumbs and not battered, but apparently no one does that healthier old school preparation anymore (and I need to inform my old work colleague who hailed from Glasgow and gave me this inside tip that it's not practiced anymore). I also had a Chieftain IPA. The side of peas were dryish and not flavorful and small portioned and not done as well and tasty as I have had in London or Perth, just saying. We also had their sticky toffee pudding with ice cream for dessert and that was good. The fries were mediocre. Server was friendly and attentive. 4 stars overall and a nice local flavor Glasgow outing. read more

Such a cute and quaint place for afternoon tea. We found the place on Yelp and wanted to give it a try. Didn't have reservations but there was a good amount of tables available downstairs. Found out later that they had more seating upstairs. Staff was cute sweet and friendly. The whole area where we were seated was quite shabby chic with all the vintage and mismatched dishes and cutlery. Wooden table with lace tablecloth. We came for afternoon tea which was quite affordable. They also have upgrade to bubbly if you wanted something extra. The three tier offered sandwiches, cakes, scones, salmon on top of crackers and served with chips. Everything was great. Presentation was beautiful. Tea was unlimited I believe which is nice a/ some places charge for refills. There's also a la carte dishes as well. Overall, cute spot for tea. read more

First time in Scotland and I absolutely adored the steak pie and beer I had. The server gave us some good recommendations about local things to try and there was live music later into the meal. Overall delicious! read more

Stopped in for afternoon tea and got a toastie to eat while my wife had the tea. Service was fast and friendly. The toastie was good but nothing spectacular. The dining room is quaint and very retro. Overall a decent option. read more

The Butterfly and the Pig on Bath Street in Glasgow city centre is one of the best-reviewed places in the city and it's easy to understand why. It's highly recommended on both Yelp and within the gluten-free community. The concept is pretty cool, they've got a lot going on, but they've still executed what they are doing very well across the tea rooms, pubs and restaurant with unique, Shabby-chic style decor. I did originally get confused getting inside, but I headed down the stairs and entered the bar before being pointed into the restaurant. The menu had a varied choice, with allergens marked including what was gluten-free, and could be modified to be gluten-free. It also included markings for dairy-free dishes. The menu was rather amusing to read with the description and jokes, adding a unique take on the menu. I went for the gluten-free fish and chips because when in Scotland you have to go for the haddock, for the dish I ordered was described on the menu as: " Tittys traditional fish and chips, battered to death haddock with mushy peas (all veggies beware they have nasty ham through the peees) and a slice of lemon. (Please be careful there may be one or two bones in the fish they had to move about you know (GFi) (DF) " The staff were friendly, they weren't too busy during my visit, so one female staff member appeared to be working the area I was sat in, she was friendly, I was seated right away with a jug of water brought to my table. My food arrived in good time, and I was offered my choice of sauces. I was really pleasantly surprised by the quality and portion size of the fish. The fish was immaculate, and potentially the best I've ever had, the fish came apart with my fork, it was moist and flaky, and the batter was very crispy, it could easily be mistaken for the real deal. You rarely find such good fish and chips in a restaurant, I normally prefer a traditional chippy, but this can give any good fish and chip shop a run for its' money for sure. The chips were fresh, not the best I've had but they were still good. The peas had a unique texture, they were firmer and more solid compared to some mushy peas you can get which are literally all sauce, it was cooked through, just as I like them. The prices were reasonable, my meal came to £15.50, and considering I would have paid a similar price at Blue Lagoon for a similar-sized portion which was nowhere nowhere near this quality, it was a good shout. The service and food quality standards were excellent, I just wish my trip to Glasgow was longer so I could try out more dishes! It's an experience I can't fault with any fair and realistic improvements... unless they want to open a second location closer to my home in Manchester! A well-deserved five-star rating is in order. read more
If you're looking for a Scottish place to eat, the butterfly and the little piggy has got you covered! It's a wee bit off the beaten path and away from the city center but it's worth the walk for a seemingly authentic Scottish meal. Half pub meets half restaurant. We ordered a nice refreshing ale while we waited for our table to open. The meal itself was solid. I ordered the fish and chips which was a good size but the best dish was definitely the Sheppards pie. Very delicious. The staff was friendly and the menus themselves were very interesting and unique. Overall ambiance was Scottish so if that's what you're looking for you won't be disappointed here! read more
Nice enough meal, but not that inventive with the non-meat options when I went. The roasted courgette and cauliflower was good, but might have went better with some sort of dip and flatbread rather than the salad. Didn't realize when I ordered the hot smoked salmon salad as a main course it would be the exact same base as the starter. Again, tasty enough, but not very imaginative. Really enjoyed the cool venue and food, the service was fair. We stopped in for a quick dinner and found the food to be quite tasty. We started with the Haggis Eggrolls. This was our first time trying Haggis in any form and think this is a great way to venture into the world of Haggis. They serve their Haggis Eggrolls with a peppercorn sauce which was a lovely addition. It is worth noting they call them Haggis Fritters but I really compare them more to an Eggroll. For dinner, I had the steak pie with mash. This was the perfect meal for a hungry traveler, such as myself. The puff pastry was cooked perfectly, the meat was tender and tasty, the mash (mashed potatoes) was so smooth, and the little carrots were so good. Needless to say, my plate was cleared in a very short period of time. My wife had one of their burgers, sadly I can't remember which one but I do remember the bite I took and I found it to be a very satisfying burger. We loved the dining room and found it to be very fun and charming. The service was just fair, our server was ok. She sort of made us feel like we were an inconvenience but it didn't change the taste of the food. We would recommend The Butterfly and the Pig! read more

What a fun place! The restaurant is so cool and unique. The food was amazing. And had no problem accomodating gluten free/dairy free. There's live music every night, so we sat in the lounge after dinner for a bit. Great staff. Definitely highly recommend. read more

At 5pm Sunday, We secured reservations via phone for Sunday Roast for an 8pm seating. We were seated immediately upon arrival. The Sunday Roast beef selection was sold out. We ordered the chicken roast, wine & beer. Everything was fabulous. The beverages were spot on. The meal was nice & hot. The chicken was moist on the inside with a slight crisp on the edges. Potatoes were excellent...soft on the inside and slight crisp skin. Broccolini & carrots nicely prepared. Slightly shy on the rich creamy gravy. We request a bit more gravy and were provided a healthy amount of gravy. The meal was the best Chicken Roast we have ever had! The sticky toffee pudding alamode was to die for. Tea & coffee a nice touch with the dessert. The staff was very attentive & professional. read more

Wonderful place to grab some grub and enjoy a nice drink or two. The food is good and the service top notch. Loved the location and the decor was fun. We are back in the states now, but we will remember our visit for a long time to come. read more
