George and Cindy were a pleasure to work with from the very start. They were both very friendly and professional. We booked with them mid-last year for our engagement and wedding photography and at the time, were able to book both as part of a promo package, which was a plus and a bit of a cost saver for us. We had our engagement session October 2017 at the Memory Gardens/Custom House Plaza/beach right off the side of Fisherman's Wharf in Monterey which was a beautiful location they recommended. If I recall, it was about a 2 or maybe 3-hour session and we were able to do an outfit change in the middle. This was the first time my husband and I have had professional photos taken of us and we're not ones to really take a lot of photos of ourselves so going into it we felt a bit awkward. George and Cindy were great in talking to us, suggesting poses and helping to make us feel a bit more comfortable. We had provided a few sample ideas of photos we wanted to try out and they took those into consideration during our session as well. They were able to capture close to 200 photos. One thing we didn't particularly care for was the blurred filter lens that was used to shoot some of the photos. They had asked if it was okay to use which we agreed to but as we went back through our photos later, we would have preferred the full clear shots then could have added that type of filter later if we wanted to with a little bit of photo editing. Fortunately, they had asked about it again on our wedding day, so we were able to request it not be used as much. Overall, we enjoyed our engagement session and were able to get to know them and get a few photos that we liked and could use for our Save-the-Dates. We had access to these photos in an online album on their website and transferred to Dropbox for us to download about 3 weeks later which was a quick turn-around. Fast forward to this past September 2018 and our big day - again George and Cindy were great. George was the main camera for the day with Cindy also taking photos on a second camera from the side. Although there were many duplicate type shots, they did give a slightly different view or angle, so we didn't mind. They arrived on time to our rental property in Pacific Grove and captured several pre-wedding photos with me, my bridal party and family before heading to the venue. Unfortunately, we had some issues with my groom's wedding party, which George and Cindy understood and worked with us to make the best of things. One thing we loved for our wedding photos was an idea they had shared with us beforehand (and we would recommend to all couples). Try to get a full group shot of everyone immediately following the ceremony. Once everyone disperses, it'll be hard to get everyone together again. These were probably our favorite photos of the bunch as we loved seeing all of our guests joined with us on our special day! You really don't believe how fast the day goes by and everything that happens throughout the event until the very end and the DJ is calling last dance. With over 1,400 photos we get to re-live and enjoy some very special moments that went by in a blink of an eye or we may have missed. It took a little over a month to get our photos back which again was a very quick turn-around time and worked great for us as we wanted to use some photos on our Thank You cards. I didn't inquire on it and in no way were we expecting every single photo to be perfect with so that were taken and would have to go through, but I'm not sure how much photo editing (if any/if included) may have be done beforehand but we feel there are some of the more "formal" wedding shots that could probably use a touchup or some editing for color or lighting. Overall, as we are still going through a lot of our photos, we see there is a great variety and looks like they were able to capture quite a few photos of us as well as all of our guests throughout the day whether they be direct photos or candid shots. I do not normally do this, but I am so devastated that I had to write a review. I regret the day that I hired McCullough Photography. Although they took almost 1500 photos these were primarily duplicates, just different angles, so it really came out to about 700 photos. Of those, a huge portion are portraits (which I specifically told them I did NOT want). In half of the the pictures that George took, Cindy was in the background, and vice versa. There was SO much background distraction, it cannot even be photoshopped. The inside photos are grainy and look like an amateur took them. They're so ridiculously off center or too far away, and half of the people in the photos are looking at George and the other half are looking at Cindy. And the worst of it all: we SPECIFICALLY asked to have a photo of the groom and his grandma who raised him...NONE were taken...NOT ONE. I also have absolutely NO pictures with the flower girls or ring bearer...NOT ONE. My 25 year old niece (bridesmaid) was shoo'd away, and apparently so were the kids. I wrote Cindy to express my concern, and all I got were excuses, justifications, and blame to everyone else. Months before the wedding, I had emailed them specific photo requests and I had given them several photos in person, NONE of these were taken. What she did take were photos of the extremely messy bathroom where we had thrown everything in to get it out of the way. George took pictures of a Monster drink and a bottle of water, among other things. There was NO communication, and both of them were very bossy. I tried blowing up several pics, but when I did, they became blurry. The photos are off-center, blurry, or look grainy. Of the 1500 photos, I honestly have to say, I only like 100 at the most (and the 100 includes everything from guests to cake cutting, because there aren't very many of just the two of us). They did not even offer to clean up a few pictures, just to make up for the horrible photos. Fortunately, several friends took excellent photos, so I've framed those. I'm sorry, but I ***DO NOT*** recommend them. For those who might think I should have said something at the time, I was was overwhelmed with everything else going on, that is why I had given them the photo samples and that is what we paid them for. Some of these photo requests are common sense. My head was spinning and I do not even remember half of it, let alone what pictures were being taken/not taken. 6/11/14: for clarification, the statement below (Cindy's response to my post) is not true. I would address each untrue statement individually, but it would be much too lengthy. It's easier to say that Cindy is confusing my wedding with another, and I will only address three major issues: 1) I never gave her a "lengthy list" or "stack of pictures," I only gave her about 10 (at the most 15) must-have pictures, and none were taken; 2) there was never an agreement about the groom's grandma and kids being at the hotel, so I'm not sure where she got that from (and regardless, pictures were not taken at the beach either); and 3) there are no pictures of the ring bearer and flower girls with me at the beach, which any normal bride has. I didn't care about the hotel, the beach was the most important to me-and everyone was at the beach during and after the ceremony. Cindy keeps saying that we were running late and she keeps addressing the pictures at the hotel. Again, I did not care about the hotel pictures. Once the ceremony was done, all of the requested pictures could/should have been done-there is no excuse. All I see on the response is basically Cindy very kindly blaming us (again) and not taking any responsibility. I don't like to bad mouth a business, but I can't pretend all is well. They may take good photos (based on other reviews, not from my experience) and maybe they just do not work well under pressure (and are not creative at all...they took no "action" shots). My sister had to insist on them taking a picture of the wedding party jumping in the air on the beach...which was one of the must-have's...and I think they only took one. The rest of the pictures on the sand and everywhere else were staged. read more

I originally found this photography company through a wedding expo in Santa Cruz. I thought they would be really great for my wedding but I was sadly disappointed. I went to their home to pay the deposit and saw many of the other weddings they did and I thought they would put the same effort into my wedding and they sadly did not. During the wedding, in the beginning they were alright, but after the ceremony they didn't show any creativity with poses at all especially with my husbands photos. They had all the family shots exactly the same, and I just feel like with all the photos they took, that some would be better. Then I had some of my guests tell me that they (Cindy and George) were telling my guests how trashy we (My husband and I) were! My husband and I were nothing but professional with them and to say something like that is completely unprofessional and uncalled for. Then, during the garter toss Cindy started to get rude with me! I felt that I put a lot into my wedding with what little I had and then this just ruined the mood for everyone. Then the album production was extremely late. I was told it would start last November 2011, and wasn't started until January 2012. When I was finally shown some proofs of what would be put into the album, I was disappointed yet again. At the bridal expo, Cindy had almost boasted to me about how she was great with photoshop but when she was working on my album, she didn't even know what it meant to superscript text. I had to send tutorials on photoshop and grid theory because they many proofs she kept showing me were just awful. After a while I just settled on what she would show me and said it was okay because I was just wanted this drawn out awful process to be over. I just received the album and still am not impressed for what I paid. (It wasn't much compared to other photographers, but I still expected better.) read more

Cindy and George photographed my engagement shoot with my fiance, and we are so happy with our photos! I told Cindy that I wanted a "foresty" feel and she knew the perfect spot to take us. Both Cindy and George are laid back, yet professional, and they made us feel very comfortable (which is hard to do when you feel "on the spot" having your photo taken!). I am very happy that I hired Cindy and George to take pictures for my proposal. They are flexible and understanding for finding a time slot. They enjoy what they do and the pictures are great! The engagement ring arrived nearly one week later then I have expected. Therefore, I had to arrange the photographers at the last minute (you should book ahead, I was lucky). Cindy got back to my voice mail on Saturday night and she was very understanding about my situation. Initially I wanted to propose at the Spanish bay, and Cindy suggested me to propose on Carmel beach instead due to better sun light direction. Expect the professional advice about the location, she also told me where to park. This turned out to be very important because it was quite crowded on Sunday morning. They stalked us carefully and I really surprised my fiancee when I proposed to her. They did a great job capturing this very moment for us. Cindy shared the photos with me less than 5 hours after the proposal. We shared our happiness with family and friends on the same day! Definitely recommend! We really love the pictures! My wife and I got married in October 2013. We interviewed a number of photographers and we ended up choosing George and Cindy. It was unquestionably the right choice. Cindy and George were incredibly friendly and easy to work with. They listened to what we wanted to do and really followed our requests in doing the photo shoots. They also gave us excellent suggestions, which we followed and that turned out great. Cindy and George did both our engagement photos and our wedding day photos. The photos were absolutely amazing and really captured the day. Cindy and George were never in the way and, in fact, we kind of forgot that they were photographing everything. We were so impressed with them and with all the incredible photos that we had them do our wedding album, which also is really beautiful. A couple of points in George and Cindy's favor. Of all the wedding photographers that we interviewed, they were the only ones that gave us a disk of all our wedding photographs after the wedding. Not one other photographer offered to do that, and that was huge to us. In addition, George and Cindy were one of the most reasonably priced photographers that we interviewed. They had different wedding packages and their price was extremely reasonable for all the services that they provided. The McCullough team covered our wedding day with beautiful photography and videography. It started with our engagement sitting that they had included with the package we chose. They made it a fun experience, which relaxed us in front of George's camera. We loved the pictures! On our wedding day, Cindy also had a camera and Tary had a video camera, so they were able to capture everything we wanted. All of our requests and every detail of the wedding day was perfect. Our ceremony was all of 7 minutes, as requested by my husband, so every minute was precious to us and the McCullough team captured every moment from all the right angles. We found George and Cindy at a bridal show and won a package for an engagement shoot. We loved our photo's from the shoot and really felt comfortable with Cindy and George, its great to have a married couple assisting you when you are preparing to be married. Their packages were fairly reasonable, especially compared to all of the other vendors we encountered throughout our Journey. They were willing to do hourly rates and provide the entire photo's on CDROM with copyright release so we could print as many as we would like and to share photo's with our loved ones! During the wedding they did an amazing Job handling not only my Husband and myself but also all of our Families and loved ones. I am really excited to see all of the photo's that they took (waiting just a few more weeks) They made great use of the venue and they know got some really great shots!! Where do I even begin? Cindy and George are PHENOMENAL and I could not be more pleased with their services! I consider myself to be an extremely picky person and they both were completely accommodating and understanding of my wants and desires on my wedding day! It was so refreshing to see two photographers work together so effortlessly! Prior to the wedding, I communicated often with Cindy. I emailed and text pictures often and always got a quick reply or response or more creative suggestions and I loved that she was so honest about what she felt would and wouldn't look good on the day of our wedding.
