Had a foursome booked for Saturday of Memorial Day weekend. The weather was horrible so called early in the AM and was told the course was open but if needed to cancel for my 11:10 tee time they would refund the money because of the weather. Three of us decided to golf in the wind and rain and one decided not to. Got home and was billed $600 for the 3 of us. I told the two knuckleheads in the pro shop there was only 3 of us but they billed for four $150 rounds. Called the next morning when I got the confirm email and was transferred to the manager. He took my number and said he would look into and have heard nothing. By his attitude I was not holding my breath for a call back. This should be a pretty easy fix but as seen in some of the other reviews, this doesn't seem to be an anomaly here. If $150 is worth the bad feelings I have and will share with others then keep it. I am down for most of the summers and will be golfing elsewhere. read more

BUYER BEWARE!! CHECK YOUR CREDIT CARD! Booked a foursome directly from McCullough's website. It was a great deal. Apparently too good of a deal. We got to the 2nd hole and the starter came out to tell us the price we paid wasn't correct. Our choice was to keep playing and get charged that day's rate or go in and talk to the GM for a refund. McCullough's has always been one of oir favorite courses to play. We planned on going into the pro shop afterwards for a shirt or hat, but we won't ever be going back again. They didn't even consider honoring the price from their actual website. Shady business that they just charged the card without consent or signature. read more

You will see several active landfill gas extraction system. This place formerly landfill site. Green speed was acceptable and nice design course but few blind green holes. But This place doesn't have any Hole number sign. Our group of four had a lot of difficulty to find next hole. So confused to play next hole. Very dangerous to play at hole 15 and 16. You must cross the road where cars run fast. Not even a warning sign. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend this course to any golfer. read more

I am really glad I didn't read the reviews prior to booking my round at McCullough ' s I really enjoyed my round at this course. The course is based on mirroring holes from famous courses in the uk/Europe I had no issues with any of the staff, I felt they were very welcoming The conditions were excellent I was hooked up with 2 nice gentlemen Who had played the course before. The course does not have a range There is a putting green available There is a cafe/restaurant My only disappointment was pace of play on the back nine We played the front in 90 minutes The back took over 180 minutes because we were behind some elderly players. Playing at pace and on time with no one behind us. the ranger bothered us for 3 straight holes13,14,15) 5 times. after being told off by a guy in my group closer to age..which helped.. he then left us alone. But the course was nice. I'd be back. You just have to be ready to tell a senior citizens to fuck off.. this guys really doesn't have a clue. At 17 we waited on the tee box still with no one behind. I cant play any faster.. and I've never been told to pick it up after many rounds and many years. First time here. I'll give it another year. Two bad experiences in one week and three in one summer. My co workers threw a birthday party there on August 30 , although for the whole week prior no one picked up a phone call or responded to voicemail we still decided to go. The night time staff is pretty young there and rude , the bartender was rude and unfriendly. The "manager" on duty just stood in the corner and did nothing . A waitress finally sat some of the party down at a table to order food , then the bartender tells them no they have to order from the bar . If the check is paid at the bar already we don't owe the bartender anything else . Very unprofessional and disrespectful. The entire party that came is in the service industry and it was probably the worst service we have ever received. September 3rd had a tee time for 4 people , we were sent to the chipping and putting area by the nice cart person out front , then we were called back to go inside to prove address , that isn't the problem the problem is the golf pro assumed that we were avoiding him on purpose . Stating that one of the guys in our party ran to the bathroom to avoid him . We aren't children , I did not appreciate the way we were accused of anything , we did what we were told to do . I like playing this golf course but due to the unprofessional and unfriendly treatment myself and my parties received in that week myself and the people I came with will not be playing or dining there for the rest of this season and possibly beyond We can go elsewhere and be treated better. read more

Play this course almost every weekend from April thru Sept. Conditions have steadily improved over the past 5 years and fairways and greens are pristine. Lot of blind shots, similar to the courses in Ireland and Scotland. Helps to play it a couple times (like any other course) to pick up the nuances. Fun, challenging course. I gave it a 4 a couple years back, it was probably a 3.6, now it's a 3.9. read more

Despite the odd smells that come from McCullough's, it has the potential to do well. Unfortunately for them, they throw all of that potential out the window when it comes to handling "unforeseen" issues. Our tee time was at 6 and with no one in front of us, 18holes could be played if played quickly. At about 7pm, we are already in the 10th hole when the cart stopped working. It had completely died. So what do we do? We attempted to call any of the attendants to help us. After calling every number option, every extension and not getting ahold of anyone. The shop pro, the the restaurant, maintenance, and manager lines. Tom later mentions the restaurant is a completely separate entity, so maybe it would not have mattered if we got a hold of someone. We walked back. The restaurant had someone inside and the attendants were diligently working outside. We told the attendants, who didn't offer much (not much they could really do at that point). I left a message with the general manager. How did Tom (the General Manager) handle this? By letting us know it was not his fault and there is not really much he can do other than a measly discount on our next visit. (He did not take any info of ours down in order to honor said discount). Thank goodness we were physically able and healthy adults capable of walking 20mins carrying all of the usual gear you take out for golf. Tom used excuse after excuse for why no one was available to answer the phone and offered a less than promising discount for future play. Not only did he provide countless excuses, but even said what do you expect with a twilight tee time? Honestly, at the very least to drive back at sundown as opposed to walk back. We had at least 45mins left of daylight when the cart died. Ask for Tom if you want crap service and excuses for why he will not meet your golfing expectations. read more

Mccullough's hosted a tournament for the VGA and I had an amazing time. The conditions were tough because of the rain, and 30-40 mph winds, but I still had a great time. It's a fun course and really well kept. I can't wait to golf there again. Thank you!!! read more

Prepare to be hassled by the rangers to pick it up or have to skip a hole. Doesnt matter if anyone is even behind or in front of you. Lots of walkie talkie action by rangers. And, they have short term memory as the same ranger will tell you to pick up the pace 4 holes in a row... then stand there while you tee off. I wont be back. read more

Played here for the LAST time on vacation last week. My playing partner only has one leg. They don't have handicap flags(we've asked for one on 3 different occasions). One of the starters could not have been a bigger jerk concerning where we could drive near the tee boxes and greens. He came and complained on the 2nd hole that we were parking too close to the tee box. The starter said "I know you have a problem, but you can't do that." What a jerk. We play very often so most places are helpful to handicapped people, but not this place. read more

My husband and I have been here a few times. Every time we have visited McCullough's the staffs exuberant sport comes through ever time. The deck is clean, bug free and the view is calming. I hope it continues to be a warm place to relax in EHT. read more

Staff at the bar rude and inattentive. Course has potential. But this old crotchety nasty ranger on site, allowing his friends to play a five some. And hold up everyone behind them. They were drunken losers hitting 5 balls a person off each tee. And the ranger said nothing to them since he was obviously their friend Meanwhile he repeated hawked us on every hole to make sure we were driving on the proper parts of the course. So wacky to look over as your putting and see this idiot just waiting to give you advice. Rude as ever. Why this course would employ people like this is unknown. Ranger Jim is his name. Emerald Golf Links is the ultimate Jekyll and Hyde golf course, and in the end it's not worth the prices they charge. I was able to play this course because of a 2-for-1 coupon that came with my vacation house rental. So, myself and 3 others were able to play for $35 each instead of the normal $70 rate for Monday, 9:30 tee-time. There were numerous times when we said to each other "Man, I would be mad if I paid $70 for this." The first 5 holes were immaculate and beautiful. The concept of the course, replicating famous European holes, is wonderful and you feel like you're playing in Scotland or England. However after the first 5 holes, the course slowly because to deteriorate. Tee boxes got worse, the fairways were ripped up, and the greens were patchy with some dead grass. This deterioration culminated with holes 15 and 16 which were on the other side of a busy road with limited visibility while crossing. These holes were absolutely atrocious, it's almost like nobody cared to maintain them since they were across the street. After those, 17 and 18 were once again beautiful. It certainly seemed like only a few holes got the love and attention they all should have. Another negative is that instead of having automatic sprinklers, the course staff was out during the day watering greens. The problem is, these guys didn't care if you were ready to hit onto the green, they just stood there watering the green until they were done. One worker did walk to the side of the green but kept the hose on and absolutely soaked one little spot of green where he was standing. All in all, if you have to pay full price to golf here, I would pass. But for the $35 that we paid to play, we were happy with the golf we got to play. read more

Ok, so, where do I start off???? We had a party of 11 people and got stuck with some random guy which is the least part of our worries. We had rangers harassing us at the 2nd hole of the day! Wrote our cart numbers down after accidentally driving in a zone that we were not supposed to (our fault). After that we were followed the whole time and watched until about the 14th hole where the manager and ranger were waiting for us. They watched close by while all 4 of us tee'd off and flushed the ball down the fairway. He, (Thomas Sullivan) the general manager rudely asked us to hurry it up and that people were behind us complaining. As we were standing there baffled that we were being asked to skip holes we looked behind us and saw there was no one even remotely close to behind us. After exchanging words with this so called general manager we agreed to skip a hole if we weren't harassed by the end of the day. When we finally finished and looked back there was still no one close to us. So we went to look for the GM, Mr. Sullivan, he had left for the day. The guy working the club house gave us his card and we called him to express our distain. We explained that we as a group felt like we were mistreated after spending at least 2,000 dollars at their landfill golf course, our response was "you guys spent 2,000 dollars but I had 10,000 dollars behind you" be prepared to be treated like shit and at a garbage course that is literally built on top of the filth and garbage from Atlantic City. The methane stacks and stinky mud were just the icing on the cake. You could not pay me to go back to this dingy fart smelling course. read more

I wish I would have read these reviews prior to booking because these are spot on. I booked 3 foursomes for a bachelor party weekend, this course is a disaster. Outside of the fact that the fairways looking like a $20 course the staff is about as rude as you can get. We had 8:51, 9:00 and 9:09 tee times. The starter was freaking out because he wanted to send us off at 8:30 because they had an outing scheduled at 1pm. The rangers spent the entire time riding us to play faster so they could get their outing in. At one point the ranger told me we were on pace to play a 5.5 hour round. Lol we were on pace for a little over 4 hours so I called him out on it and said maybe next time don't allow a 9:09 tee time when you have a 1pm outing. He knew he was wrong so he just raged and said he doesn't book this stuff so don't complain to him. THIS COURSE IS TRASH AND SO IS THE STAFF, DONT PLAY IT. I COULD HAVE LISTED 10 OTHER ISSUES WITH THE STAFF BUT YOU GET THE PICTURE. read more

I have read several reviews about the ranger and I want to add. We finished our round in exactly 4 hours and twenty minutes. Those assholes told us to pick up the pace around 5 times throughout the round and threatened to make us skip a hole when there was NOBODY BEHIND US. Very rude and obnoxious, I do not want to return which is a shame. If the ownership cares enough to reach out and apologize I will consider taking this down. read more

Course conditions have improved under new superintendent...many blind shots, including from the tee...markings were poor and virtually non existent providing little or no assistance when navigating the course and blind spots...the course itself was in very good shape...greens were lightning fast...the course has a decent clubhouse for lunch and 19th hole...for the price, this course is worth a try! read more

Similar to another user, I had the exact same experience with a group of three foursomes for a bachelor party. I have been playing golf for 10 years and have played many different courses, this experience was the worst. We arrived at the course and spent about $200.00 in food for lunch. 12 guys ate lunch and had a few pitchers of beer. When we all gathered to start at our starting time, we were then greeted by the manager Tom who went on to give us the rules of the course. He condescendingly told us that the course is all about pace of play and if you were not playing bogey golf to pick up your ball. So, after spending $200 at the clubhouse in food, this is how they decided to treat their customers right from the start. On the 5th hold, a ranger came and told us that we were behind schedule and that we needed to hurry our play or he would make us skip a hole. This that said, there was no group in sight in front, or behind us, and we were right on pace at 4.5 hours for a round. We politely said fine, and let it go. Then at the 9th hold, the ranger returned to make us skip a hole, and at this point there was still no group in front of behind us. Of course, as we skipped to the next hole there was a group teeing off on our whole backing which meant we had to wait. At this point, we expressed our extreme displeasure to the ranger and he unapologetically tried to justify moving our group made sense when in fact it was completely nonsensical. The ranger proceeded to follow us on most of the holes, creating a distraction and taking away from a special day. After the round, a verbal argument ensued with their staff and our group and a staff member actually asked one of our members if we wanted to fight them. We decided to take the higher ground and take our losses. To sum this up, this course (which by the way was created on top of a land dump) is badly designed and their staff are all completely unprofessional, inexperienced, crooks and morons. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE DO NOT GIVE THESE CROOKS YOUR MONEY!! read more

Emerald Greens is a fantastic change over most other courses around. As advertised really gives a golfer a true feel of a Links course. Can't beet the price. More importantly everyone we met especially the starter/ranger treated us like gold. If you haven't played Emerald Greens go and enjoy a great different type of course we all usually play. read more

Our group was incredibly excited to play this intriguing European style links course. We were met with confusion upon the first hole by the rangers who couldn't seem to find our tee time. After multiple minuets went by we started our round. By the 5th hole it started to downpour and we head back to the club house to wait out the rain. We were told the course never closes by one of the rangers as "it's play at your own risk", and went on to wait over an hour. As the rain began to slow we proceeded to head back out when another ranger told us the course closed over 30 min ago and we couldn't finish our round. When going to get our rain check we were given a 9 hole voucher that had to be used within 60 days. We ended up losing more money because its "their policy". Sometimes good business and professionalism go a long way. No sirens for lightening, confusion of policy amongst their own employees, and no places to keep dry really put a damper on our day. On top of it all we were taken advantage of and would much rather invest in other courses in the area. Avoid this course and play your 18 with a friendly staff and more helpful establishment. read more

Well, I guess I should have read the yelp reviews before my tee time this past Sunday afternoon. Me and the wife had a tee time for around 3:45pm because we like playing in the afternoon and it is not as hot and typically the greens fees are a bit lower although $40 for 18 holes is not that cheap. Anyway, at approx 6:45pm when we walked off the 14th green heading to the 15th tee box, the gates on either side of the road that must be crossed to get to the 15th green were locked with a sign that says that both the 15th and 16th holes are closed. When we made our tee times there was no notification that these holes were closed nor was anything said when we paid our greens fees. When we finished at 7:15pm, I tried to talk with someone in the pro shop but it was closed. My wife talked with an employee at the bag drop and he said that the reason that they closed the two holes was that they had an outing and did not want carts out too late so they locked the gate at 7 or 8 o'clock (what???-how does closing down two holes keep people from bringing back carts later). He offered no apology, raincheck, or even to pro rate us for the two holes we were not able to play. Seems like some courses these days are more interested in scheduling outings and inconveniencing the regulars that play there all the time. Well this regular (typically twice a week) will now play somewhere else that appreciates our business and wants us to come back. Had someone at the course at least told us that they were going to shut down two holes we could have made an earlier tee time or gone somewhere else. So take heed of their two star yelp review, it is more than well deserved. It is amazing that they can even stay in business with the way they treat their customers. The course is nice but nothing special...only 119 slope from men's tees. Be prepared to be treated poorly by staff! I called at 830am for a tee time and they said wide open and gave me 9:22am. I showed up and they had an outing going on and a line for the first tee. It took 3 hrs to play the first 9. They were cutting one of the greens while I was on it and when I asked the guy he told me he was doing his job! I would avoid it for $76. read more

Very solid course and great value for the area. No problem making a tee time. Golf, pro shop and restaurant staff was very courteous throughout. Course itself was very interesting links style. Fescue was tough if you found it, but the course was very playable with an interesting layout. Would definitely be easier the 2nd time you play but nothing was unfair. 7th, 15th and 16th holes were all gems and especially memorable. Price is fair and lower than some other courses in the area. Only knock on the course is that there is no driving range, but the putting/chipping green has space so you can make some 50-60 yard shots if no one else is on the green. All told it was a very enjoyable track and worth the visit for a different style course, particularly if you are familiar with some of the historic courses that the McCullough's holes are patterned after. read more

Pleasantly surprised with this course. Played there early on a weekday. For 30 or 40 bucks this course is definitely worth a play but I wouldn't pay much more. It was in very nice shape. The layout is pretty bizarre. Anyone looking into this course knows the holes are based on famous holes in the uk. This leads to some pretty unusual links style holes and plenty of blind shots, if you're playing here the first time you can be easily confused. Overall pretty cool course. read more

Extremely dissapointed in this course and will go out of my way to never golf here again! Besides the lady in the club house and the girl in the food cart (who immediately distanced her self by telling us she doesn't work for the course and sees this stuff all the time) everyone who works here is extremely rude! They have about 15 marshalls on the course and they act like the Nazi army. The marshalls frequently drive into the fairway while you are trying to hit and yell at you like you are a child. We got yelled at 3 times for "not moving quick enough" when we were standing at tee boxes waiting for the group ahead of us for about 9 holes and the 3 some behind us were never hitting into us or waiting at the tee boxes. We were a four some who finished 18 holes in 4 hours so our speed was far from a problem. They tried getting us to skip holes but after a long argument we won the battle but the Marshall war sure never ended the whole day. Even the cart guy after we were done playing was using foul language and was extremely rude. I have been playing golf for 15 years now and never seen anything like this. The course was long and fun to play even though you felt like you were playing a desert and most of the cart paths feel like you are off roading. I would recommend this course for 35 bucks and for people who liked to be watched and hassled but for 76 dollars I would stay far away. There are plenty other courses in AC that deserve your business!!! read more

My son and I played or tried to play this course on on annual golf weekend. We struggles to get to the 11th hole in a little more than 4 hours. When talking to a ranger I was told there was an outing ahead of us that was not very good and insisted on looking for their balls which took up to 30 minutes. I heard a Ranger on a Wilkie talkie ask if he should make them skip a hole and the office tell him to let them be. When my son and finally gave up and I went to the office to complain they told me the would not refund any of greens fee and gave me a $5 discount for our next round. I discarded it and will not play there again. read more

Second time I have played the course and have yet to finish 18 holes. VERY SLOW play. Four and a half hours for 14 holes, the other time 5 hours for the same number of holes. NO help from the marshal. The first cut of rough is too long, causes lost time for looking as well as lost balls. The course has many blind shots, so if you are not on he fairway your out of luck. The course layout wasn't bad, fairly challenging in some places and good variety. Conditions were good overall, although a few holes could use some maintenance (15 and 16 come to mind). That being said, the staff here, particularly one of the course marshals, were the rudest and most unprofessional I have ever encountered at a golf course at any price. We had 8 guys for a bachelor party, divided into 2 foursomes. By the fourth hole, the marshal began rudely hounding us about our pace of play, saying that we were on track for a 5 hour round (PoP is 4.5 hours) and we needed to hurry up or we would have to skip a hole. He then proceeded to follow us around and watch us for the rest of the front 9. We explained that there was another group in front of us that held us up significantly but that didn't seem to matter. When we got to the turn, the first foursome in our group ran into the club house to quickly buy food and when they came out, the marshal told them they had to skip 10 even though my foursome was behind them and the next group was 2 holes back so we weren't holding anyone up. A heated argument followed which ended with the marshal telling them they could either skip 10 or go inside to talk to the manager and waste even more time and probably have to skip 2 holes. After some more argument, they grudgingly skipped the hole. For a place that charges $70 to play a round on a mediocre course, that kind of treatment is completely unacceptable. Next time I'm in the AC area, I will be looking for a different place to play. read more

Group of 8 out for bachelor party just like the other two reviews below. Seems to be a common theme. Started off fine as we were joking around with the rangers before the round started. I have played plenty of course/ grew up caddying during summers, but I have never been to a course where I felt such an overwhelming presence of rangers to the point where we couldn't help but talk about it for a majority of the round. Our pace was solid as we reached 18th tee in 4 hours. We decided that we, both foursomes, would all tee off 18 together. Keep in mind the twosome behind us was simultaneously teeing off 17. Two rangers parked right next to our 4 carts as we started teeing off. As soon as the fifth guy put his tee in the ground, the ranger yelled at him, "Don't you dare hit that ball". Arguing started as the rest of us continued to tee off and we basically picked up our drives since the arguing was still going on in the middle of the fairway. I understand that your course has policies that you want to stick to...but there are 99 different ways to get your point across without being condescending/ unprofessional/ rude/ to your guests. Instead of eating lunch and getting a souvenir at the pro shop, we decided to leave.. Don't recommend this place one bit as long as their ranger system is still n place. Great example of people in that position abusing their power. McCullough's needs to figure it out. read more

I do not often write reviews, but my experience at McCullough's was bad enough to warrant one. First off, the course is in okay shape. The layout has numerous blind shots and many very difficult greens, sometimes unnecessarily so. The course itself is not great, but not horrible. That said, the course management was absolutely the most atrocious and unprofessional thing I have ever witnessed at a golf club. We showed up at 1:20 for a 1:40 tee time and they HAD NO CARTS. They literally did not have any carts at the clubhouse because they were all on the course. I have worked at golf courses. I play often and am about a 12 handicap. I have never heard of a golf club running out of carts, but McCullough's managed to pull that off. We waited for a foursome to come off of 18 and return their carts before we could head to the first tee, around 2:00. Upon arriving at the first tee there are, literally, five foursomes waiting to tee off. It was a complete joke. They had two outings and a bachelor party all booked for the same day. That is fine, but don't allow the public to waste their money on your course if it is booked past capacity. We did not tee off until 2:25, and we waited on literally every hole, usually about 5 or 10 minutes. It took us 5 and 1/2 hours to play 16 holes before it got too dark to play. Bottom line, the management was so atrocious that I will never return to McCullough's. There are too many good options in the AC area to subject yourself to this. Go across the street to Harbor Pines or up the road to Blue Heron. read more

Golfed at this course on a Tuesday morning in August with a Tee time of ~9am. Initially, things started well with a good experience with the Starter who explained the course layout, etc. When we got to the back nine, we encountered the grounds crew. They were doing something to the tee boxes on 8 of the last 9 holes (looked like aeration). We had to endure someone from the grounds crew and their equipment on every hole of the back nine except #11. This included sitting there parked, watching us tee off, blowing debris off the tee box while we waited to tee off and general disruption of our focus on golf. Finally, on 18, we had to wait over 10 minutes to tee off once the hole was clear, because the grounds crew refused to stop what they were doing and allow us to use the tee box. In addition, one crew member kept his leaf blower running while we teed off. Upon complaining to the staff at the club house, all I got were blank stares and lame apologies. I was then aske for my contact information so a Marshall could follow-up with me...and I'm still waiting. I liked the course and it was in good condition. What was a good start at 9 holes turned into a bad experience. The worst part was the staff's lack of interest or concern about what happened. I definitely will not pay to golf at this course again. read more
