Our Irish friends took us for burgers in Sligo and man is this place yum yum yum!!! We popped in…read morewithout a reservation on a Saturday night about 6pm and we only waited 15 minutes. We ordered drinks and had an easy wait in the entry "bar" area. We're vegetarian so we ordered the black bean and chickpea patty, which you can have topped with any of their traditional beef burgers styles and it was great! The patty was moist but not crumbly - a hard combo to pull off but the Flip Side did it. So I ordered mine "Scorcher" style and it was perfect. Great sriracha mayo, nice jalapeño relish, and the bun was super fresh. The lettuce was super weak but it's iceberg and it's winter so what can you really expect. My hubs and I also split the butter garlic fries and they were okay. A bit greasy when we got to the bottom but of course it was the butter poured on them --not like a spritz. Our friends ordered the cheese fries and said they were the best "chips" they'd ever had. I'm sure it didn't hurt that they also come covered in bacon. Our friends also had the beef version of the smoked stack and the American burgers and loved them. We also had the onion rings and a sundae. Our Irish friends thought the breading in the onion rings was too thin but I'd say they were pretty standard for rings in the states. So if you love burgers and chips for about €15 you leave here full and happy. Oh and our server Zach was amazing! So top marks all around!!!

love the ambiance here! very yummy food came super quick. highly recommend, lovely staff too.read more

I'd read some glowing reviews of this fish & chip shop so I kept it in mind. I don't eat this food…read morevery often now but I did eat a lot of it in my early teens, but that's a whole other story. So pulled up into the car park, two degrees outside and 'are we human or are we dancer' coming out of the radio as I turned off the engine. First duty was into a nearby supermarket for a soft white bread pan. When it's fish n chips it has to be tea, bread and lots of butter. A good sprinkling of salt on the fish n chips too. Carbs, animal fats and hardly a healthy calorie in sight. So into the chip shop to a friendly welcome from a man, certainly didn't look like Paula but it's a funny old world so I thought better than to ask. Two fish and chips please (or as we used to say: two fish suppers) £11.60 was required. I checked it was cod and he almost seemed taken aback at my question - he said, 'of course'. I waited a bit pleased that the food was being cooked to order. The portions of cod were huge, with fresh, white chunky and skinless meat. If you aren't sure how fresh cod tastes try it here as it's very fresh. I thought each chip portion was a tad mean but once home and in the plate it was generous enough. The food is cooked in beef dripping. There is no substitute good enough, groundnut, peanut, rapeseed, olive, corn oils none come close. The batter was towards thin and I like that, and to be fair the food sat in a take out bag until I got home and put out the plates and do on. Despite this the food was excellent, perfectly good food and still quite warm. A chip buttie was a must. Now I've eaten some of the finest foods on earth but I gotta tell ya the taste of a white soft pan bread chip buttie with a bit of salt and a generous slap of butter is wonderful made all the better with hot tea. The glowing reviews are right, it's a great place. The next time I want very good fish & chips I know where to go. Maybe next time I'll sit in and have it at its very best. Who knows now that oil prices have fallen the prices here should drop too.
