Also, chickpea and quinoa is quite an original combination, and the burger was very tasty. On this occasion I was also fortunate in that in association with the 'Veganuary' campaign (go vegan for January) HBC were offering 50% off vegan marked food if you showed a voucher from the Veganuary website on your phone, or in print form, so I received a discount. There was a bit of confusion on ordering; being used to table service at the city centre HBC I had forgotten to note my table number and me vaguely saying 'It's the one right at the back' meant my food was marked to go to the table next to us, but we managed to intervene when it arrived. Also we were told everyone from the same table should order at the same till (there were two tills) but then who would stay at the table to watch our things... in the end I don't know if we split across tills or not! Food was great - delicious burger and not up in my top 3 sweet potato fries experiences in Glasgow, but still good. It was frustrating not to have open communication and have management communicate the reason for the slow down. My dad decided to give this place a try. Mediocre is about the only thing I can use to describe them not good but not bad. Burgers were a bit dry and chips undercooked and unseasoned. There is a massive choice of potential burgers in my opinion far too many. But as a chain it is not an outlets decision. Staff were very over enthusiastic and a bit too in your face for my liking. Price wise it is very over priced for what you actually get and i can't say I will be back. There are far far better burgers all over Glasgow for the same price of cheaper.

It is an even braver man who does it when the restaurant isn't very good. I've always been a firm believer in keeping things simple. Seat me, take my order, bring me a goddamn delicious burger, et voila - you have a happy customer. What I don't want is to get up from my table, cross the restaurant and stand in a queue to place my order. Where did you come up with that idea? Is it really more efficient than getting your more than capable staff to just do table service? I mean, really, it's a gimmick and I hate it. Your menu is vast, and as a veggie i'm not used to being given such choice, so I salute you for that. That doesn't, however, absolve you of your sins. Most burgers are £8/£9 and, of course, don't come with chips, which set me back another £3.50. £2.35 extra got me three small dipping sauces, and you threw in a "side" of one gherkin cut into slices for another £1.65. Oh, and when I ordered a £2.70 diet coke the smiley man behind the till handed me an empty glass and told me that the self-service machine was just "over there". The point i'm trying to make, Chris, is that this is nonsense. Why should I memorise my entire table's order, get out of my seat and stand for 10 minutes behind four other diners when you have a restaurant full of perfectly good staff? Oh how glad I am that I changed my mind and decided to give it a shout. I came today with a bunch of workmates and ordered the Classic Cheese, sweet potato chips on the side and the AMAZING baconnaise. The burger patty was perfectly cooked medium, and is obviously freshly made and not processed. The sweet potato fries were nice and crispy and don't even get me started on the baconnaise. Bacon - awesome. Mayonnaise - awesome. The mixture is on another level completely! If they had any sense, they'd bottle this stuff and sell it. The decor is quirky without being pretentious and there's a nice lively feel about the place. I definitely recommend this place for burger fans - it's giving the top burger places a good run for their money.

I chose the black and blue burger (mushrooms, bacon, American cheese, and blue cheese) and sweet potato fries. For dessert, I had a slice of caramel apple pie. Both my burger and pie were great, but the saltiness of the burger and the sweetness of the pie overpowered the other flavors more than would be ideal. All in all, a lovey experience!
