As I was wandering through the streets of Glasgow waiting to catch my next bus out of town I found this place in the bustling city center with so many enticing places to eat vying for my attention. I saw the menu and they had poutine on it! When I entered the place had a nice interior ambience. Kind of like a relaxed lounge. Of course I ordered the poutine with fries and a beer. I was excited to try out Bread Meats Bread on St Vincent Street in Glasgow after hearing good things about their gluten-free options, so after a long day of exploring the city, when I found this place on Uber Eats delivering to my hotel, I didn't think twice. The menu has so many choices, even gluten-free, ranging from beef and chicken burgers to poutine, toasties and more. I decided to go for the Classic Grilled Chicken Burger and the Classic Grilled Cheese, both simple dishes but they just sounded so good. I called the restaurant ahead of placing my order on Uber Eats, just to inform them I'm coeliac, the staff member showed good knowledge regarding allergens and promised to keep everything safe for me. The food was packaged up very well, but it wasn't fully hot when delivered, likely due to the Uber delivery driver making another delivery on his way to me. Again, I can't really hold the restaurant responsible for this as they did their part. The chicken burger was really good, the chicken was tasty and had lots of flavour with the buttermilk, and the vegetables (lettuce, tomato etc) on the burger were fresh. The grilled cheese was also excellent, it sounded so simple but they managed to somehow elevate it to make it just so good, if it wasn't for the gluten-free stickers all over the packaging, I'd even think they'd given me the wrong order! I don't understand the obsession with pickles at this place though, my burger probably had half a dozen of them alone, and the grilled cheese came with a side of pickles. It was easy enough to pick them off though. I do think allowing order notes on Uber Eats would be great or at least being able to add/remove toppings as it doesn't appear to be possible right now. I was let down by the fries though, they just tasted so ordinary and bland, with the quality of everything else, you just expect better! I'd definitely return to Bread Meats Bread on future trips to Glasgow, although I may decide to dine in next time to ensure my food is hot and it's easier to handle anything I want to add/remove to my food to make it right for me. 4* read more

Ordered the pastrami burger add fried onions on top and a side of tots. Our meal came out quickly and was fresh and hot. Can I just say that is one of the more memorable things about Scotland. My food is always fresh/hot!! Not so in the states. Oh and I love how the price on the menu is the price. Taxes are already included. I was vacationing in Glasgow with my husband and sister. After checking in our hotel, our first priority was getting some lunch. We were in the mood for burgers and Bread Meats Bread did not disappoint! There was no wait and we were seated right away. It's spacious inside with plenty of tables and room between each table. We all decided to get beer. The beer list had a decent selection and we were all happy with our choices. Next up- the food. There were plenty of options (including some vegetarian options). I had a hard time deciding but eventually picked the wolf burger. It was delicious. It's packed with meat, could not finish it. The poutine caught my husband's eye... also delicious and also generous portion. My sis initially wanted a burger but changed her mind and got the patty melt- yummm! By far this was the best burger I have ever eaten. The wolf burger is a bacon cheeseburger with bbq sauce and pulled pork with american cheese. Ordered this as lunch special that came with small skin on chips and a soda. The pulled pork on the burger was moist and not dry at all. It added a zing of flavor with every bite along with the cheese that had melthed and the patty from the burger. It made every bite taste so much better the more I bit into the burger. We were vacationing in Scotland and decided to go to a burger place because we are totally cliche. Our main decision to go there was the Gluten free and vegetarian options available, which are very rare in Burger joints. Also, the location is really convenient for a stop while exploring the city The specialty burgers are massive and extremely good. My BF had the one with a burger patty topped with beef brisket. I was not THAT hungry and instead I ordered a halloumi burger which was really good and satisfying. We seriously need to make halloumi a thing in the US The space is kind of small, but we were seated fast enough in the communal table, I love that style of seating because you never have to wait to long. We stopped over for lunch on a busy Friday and it was a great experience. The place was packed, but the friendly staff were quick to fit us in. Their menu is full of creative choices, with several of them being vegan options. I ordered the Vegan B12 Cheeseburger, which appeared small at first but really packed in the flavor and was filling. It sounded good - a place specializing in burgers should have a good burger, right? How wrong I was... Ordered the Black and Blue burger as I love blue cheese. First off, the burger was sooooooo well done it was like chewing a hockey puck and had no discernible flavor of its own. No option on temperature was offered so I assumed it would be fairly well done but this was cremated. Then the blue cheese mayo...or mayo as I'll call it...only one bite had any vague flavor of blue...very disappointing. Then the fries...refried fries - gross. The server said they NEVER do that (yeah sure! I've worked in enough restaurants to know I refry when I taste it - and they were basically hollow - no potato left in the middle!!) And why didn't we say something earlier? You never asked! Top tip to the server...when you ask how everything was and I say disappointing and explain why, don't put it on me for not telling you when you were nowhere to be seen for my entire meal. Was I meant to come and find you? I flagged down the person who sat us to ask about my non-blue cheese burger and she offered more of the flavorless mayo but vanished before I could even mention the fries. The server took the fries off the bill though so that's something. I DID eat 3/4 of the burger as I was really hungry and a bad burger is still a burger and I've eaten worse but for £10-12 average price I expected MUCH better than I got. Will not return. read more

We arrived in Glasgow at 8:00 PM instead of 3:30 PM because of train issues and we were starving. This chain restaurant was a short walk from our hotel, so we decided to give it a try. My wife and I both had burgers and we split an order of fries (which do not come with the sandwiches). Food was good and the prices were reasonable. Be careful because the address on Yelp is their old address and they are a block away on the opposite side of the street. I left checking here for a few weeks to let the dust settle and in the hope that the teething issues would have been resolved by the time l visited. On arrival l was greeted by a chap who gave me a copy of the menu than explaining items on the menu l was told what they still did not have, no drink was offered until the next member of staff started their shift 20 minutes later, the drinks are served on plastic glasses? What's that all about! I ordered the BBQ brisket on brioche with a side if sweet potato fries, the order did not go out together and had to wait for the fries. I'm not sure why they call it BBQ brisket as what l had was was plain beef that was bland & tasteless there was a lack of seasoning if any, the sweet potato fries had no flavour and lacked in any seasoning. The total food bill was £9.50 that was good value. It's such a shame for the place as it's the small things have let it down. The restaurant area looks good, but staff looked unsure & disoriented. The clock on the wall was still the same time when I arrived it might just have had no battery or just an ornament. Weary readers - this is a massively long review. For just the food review, skip down a few paragraphs. Background.... Let me just say - I was so excited to try this place out. The food is the kind that I love, and I thought that this place would make for a good way to round off a long week. So, for my birthday (and to celebrate the fact it's Friday!) we decided to head on down to try it out. First impressions... I had already messaged them on Facebook to find out if they took reservations; as this is still a 'soft opening' week, they were not, but advised if we went round for 12pm we should get a seat. It was quite busy inside but not heaving when our group of 7 arrived, and we got a seat in the window. First impressions: it looks quite cool. I like the whole brickwork and junkyard wood look; definitely feels a bit hipster, and I liked the cute cows in the hay between the seats. Ordering... Our waiter came to take our order and we got our drinks - served in very cute but tiny plastic cups. Between us we ordered things including beef brisket bun (for me), fries, sweet potato fries, steak sandwiches, pastrami sandwich on pretzel bread, and a chicken bun. And then the HOUR AND TWENTY MINUTE wait for food began. The wait... Let me reiterate - the place was busy but not heaving. In our time spent waiting we noticed pretty much everyone else in there complaining about their wait. We asked several times what was happening and got a mish mash of answers that didn't really satisfy us - very busy, under stress, first week opening. I totally respect all that however being proactive to the situation would have staved off a lot of the feedback and complaints they were getting. I also felt like there was miscommunication going on between the waiters and the kitchen (our waiter basically said as much) - but to the end customer this stuff doesn't matter - that's your problem, where is my food?! A friend had to get back to work as she could only take an hour - her office is on St Vincent Street right next to the restaurant so she had literally been waiting for 50 minutes - so she asked if when the food was ready she could take it away. She did - and got her food ordered at the as,e time as us 25 minutes before we got ours?! Mental. She wasn't charged however told me later that the food was only ok and there wasn't even a napkin in the bag so it was a huge mess. The food... When we eventually got our food we were of course absolutely ravenous - me particularly as I hadn't had any breakfast - so I was ready to dig in. The food for ,me was the worst part of the whole experience. My brisket was like a fatty rump steak - I literally couldn't get my teeth through it it was so tough, as well as cold. No sauce, no real flavour on the meat. To me this was not brisket - no meat falling away in a nice rich sauceI thought everything was made to order! The steak sandwiches were ok but quite grizzly. The pastrami didn't come on the bread we had asked for but on rye - incredibly dry and the meat was pink on the outside but brown on the inside...?? Never seen that before. I had one bite of my sandwich and left the rest, trying to fill up on fries instead (which came all mixed in - no separate bowl for the sweet potato fries). Aftermath... We complained to the manager about the wait and the food and our experience in general and we weren't charged (even if we had been charged there is no way I would have paid for mine - nothing that I would ever have considered doing in a restaurant, it was that bad) and he also took our details so we can go again for another free meal. Now, I totally respect the damage control that he was trying to exercise, but when we visited it was quality control that was totally absent. I had seen some of the food pictures on here and on a good blog and it looked completely different to what we had. Last thoughts... I don't want to see this restaurant failing, in theory its a great addition to the food scene in Glasgow...but they need to rethink how they work. What really irked me was that we were told they were under a lot of stress - but there seemed to be no real sense of urgency or running about that you usually see in a busy lunch hour at a restaurant. If they had a sign outside to advise of the wait, we could have planned accordingly - or perhaps calling ahead to place our orders like other places do would help them to manage their workload. I'm hopeful that there will be improvements but right now it feels embarrassingly subpar. It will be some time before I return - even with the promise of a free meal. When it's taken you so long to visit somewhere for food then most of the time you're gonna be left with a bit of an anti-climax. Not at Bread Meats Bread! In need of something substantial and quick after an event and before my train home we quickly decided on BMB. The service was lovely from the second we walked in. Choosing what we wanted from the menu actually probably took longer than it did for them to get the food on the table once we'd ordered too which was amazing as we ended up around 10 minutes early for our train. The decor has a cute diner feel with some quirky wall art and lovely booths. There's a communal table in the centre too that really makes this feel like a warm, friendly place to grab a bite. Onto the food. I ordered the Wolf of St Vincent Street burger and shared a side of glaspoutine with hubby. The Poutine came first. Consisting of chunky chips topped with curds, cheddar and a rich gravy, it was a beautiful messy thing. The portion size was enormous and could easily have fed us and our friends as a side. The gravy was rich without overpowering and the cheese was the right side of mature so it didn't feel like an assault of flavour. On completely a personal note I think I prefer Poutine with fries as it doesn't seem so heavy as it does with chunky chips, but I really enjoyed these all the same! Now, about the Wolf. Toasted brioche bun, Burger, pulled pork, super crispy bacon, American cheese, crispy fried onions with both BBQ sauce AND Nduja Mayo. I want one again right now just writing about it. It was such a good burger. The bun held together perfectly so I didn't end up covered in its mass of contents. The bacon was so crunchy it reminded me of crisps which is just the way I like my bacon. The pulled pork was heaped on generously and added a lovely texture to the burger and the addition of the Nduja Mayo worked really well to cut through all those meaty flavours. When it came time to pay we were those customers who wanted to split the bill as neither of us had thought to get cash, but this was no issue at all for the staff who put through card part payment for us - all with a smile. It's been a long time since I dropped in. No real reason, just being busy, not being in Glasgow much, and other places to try. I dropped by this week, not out of any grand plan, but just wandering by and thought "I could go a burger" and here popped into view just as I had that epiphany. Now, being a Friday night about 8pm and a pretty nice night at that, I thought I'd maybe go for a look and then head off somewhere else if it was too busy. Yup, it was busy, but the wait wasn't long so I stuck it out. Being given the menu to look at while you wait is a great idea, cuts down on empty time at the table and speeds up table turnover! Less than 5 minutes for me and the three couples in front of me to be seated later, I had made my choice and was plonked behind a table with a view out of the window. One of the busiest junctions in Glasgow right outside means plenty of people and car watching to pass the time if you're a Billy-No-Mates like me. Yup, Friday night, on my own in a busy burger joint. Cracking stuff. The staff were superb, a constant tornado of motion, never stopping, always checking if people were doing well. Even in the case of the table next to me, who I couldn't help overhearing, seemed to be the pickiest eaters in the history of eating (worse than me, even!) and had very specific and demanding orders, the server never missed a beat or let her smile drop. As for the food? Well, the chips that I wasn't too keen on last time I was here have improved tenfold; crunchy, tasty and in plentiful supply - I had to leave some as there was that many, my server remarked that it was a BIIIIIG bowl of chips! For a burger, I opted for "The Wolf Of St. Vincent Street" billed as their signature burger, cooked medium as the staff asked me, which is a superb touch. It's a burger, pulled pork in BBQ sauce, bacon, American cheese, fried onions and Nduja mayo. I have no idea what Nduja mayo is, except to say that it's DAMN NICE. So much was on my burger that it spilled out on the plate, and dipping your chips in it is an enjoyable experience. Next time, I'm getting some as a dip on the side. Also, the burger has none of that pesky salad stuff to get in the way of MEAT~~~!!! Frequent readers of my reviews will know that I view salad with disdain, especially on burgers. The burger itself was beautiful. Right up there with my favourites in Glasgow. The mix of the sauces and the cheese melted into each other means that eating it is a messy affair, but that's the sign of a good burger for me. If you have to keep stopping to wipe your face and hands, then that's some good eatin' right there! Perhaps offering a wet wipe to fully clean yourself after the meal might be an idea though? There was a wide selection of beers available, but I'm not drinking at the moment, so I opted for an orange juice, which was fine. Orange juice isn't very exciting, I'm afraid, there's not much to report back on it at all. All in all, I'm glad I popped in. It won't be as long until my next visit this time. I've now been a few times and I have really enjoyed the food each time. I have tried a couple of their burgers and I have to say the verdict was yum. My favourite is the Smokey as it has the the smoked meat of the day. I would also highly recommend the Sweet Potato Fries as they were super delicious. The staff were lovely and on one night we went they managed to squeeze us in on the night of the George Square mad riots after the referendum results. They said they were busier than usual so were opened a wee bit later than normal. Maybe many folks had decided to take shelter in BMB and munch on super tasty burgers until the madness had calmed down. Better than the alternative. Run!!!!!! Hehe!! I've felt quite sorry for Bread Meats Bread of late, having been pretty much ambushed by 3 massive burger chains turning up just down the street from it. However, having tried 1/3 of them out of curiosity (Five Guys) and since I've been to Handmade Burger's other establishments a few times and thought they were just ok, I really don't think BMB has anything to worry about whatsoever! I've been here a few times now and it's somewhere I definitely think I'll keep coming back to! There's always a bit of a wait because the place is always mobbed, but it's definitely worth it and the staff are great at giving updates on how long you'll have to wait. Actually the staff are just great in general! I actually only finally had a burger on my most recent visit here, shock horror. It was the glorious creation that is the Cali Burger, a tribute to America's beloved In-N-Out. I missed it last year when it was on, so when I heard they'd brought it back I was determined to get my Cali on! It is DELICIOUS, the patties are thin which means you can have more than one (I only had 2 but you can go up to 4 if you think you can handle it) and the toppings/sauce just round it off nicely. It's very messy but so very good indeed. It's been almost 4 years since I had In-N-Out and I'm happy to say that the Cali Burger has managed to stave off my craving for another wee while! I've also tried the poutine from here which I really enjoyed, and the Philly cheesesteak, which I wasn't massively enamoured with, but they've changed the menu a bit since I visited last year (which I know was August because the Games were on - the Welsh athletics team had been in a few hours before us and they ATE ALL THE SMASHED BROWNIES. Sake.) and it's now a "ribeye cheesesteak" so I might be up for giving it another go. Speaking of the smashed brownie, this is also a delight and I squee-d when they brought it over in a wee cup. Delish! The house draft beer (not sure what it is exactly, shame on me) is yummy and definitely goes lovely with the food! Now, when I was in last year, I have to say I was seriously disappointed with the ordinary chips and onion rings, and I was against ordering them when I was here on Sunday but - my gosh - BMB you have redeemed yourself! The onion rings were actually perfect, not too greasy and nice and crisp - yum! During that previous visit, the caramelised sweet potato fries saved the sides because they were amazing, my pals and I quickly scoffed the lot of them! So it was to my utter dismay when I found out on Sunday that they're not on the menu any more. Sad times indeed. (They do still have caramelised fries on the menu, but they mention coconut and stuff now, which I'm fairly sure wasn't the case before. Someone correct me if I'm wrong though!) Definitely already looking forward to my next visit!!! (This is really 4.5 stars, minus a half for the time the chips and onion rings were, quite simply, naff, and for not doing the caramelised sweet potato fries any more - that's just cruel. BMB sorted us out after a day's wandering around the city - thanks to their offering of five poutine options (the Canadian national dish of chips and cheese curds topped with gravy). Lardy heaven. Though their menu is mainly focused on mahoosive burgers, American-style sandwiches and grilled cheese, once I'd seen poutine mentioned that was all I was interested in troffing; and it was the right decision - not only was Glaspoutine a massive portion and only £5.50, there was a tonne of grated cheddar cheese too, so if you're currently on Weightwatchers it's not a dish for you. Well to be honest, this whole restaurant isn't really for you! Service was friendly and efficient throughout; we were well looked after and despite it being busy not rushed to 'eat and dash'. Been a few times since original visit. Slowly but surely it's slightly gone down. Tonight however, they reached a new low. Headed in for a quick burger and fries. Burger came out and wasn't particularly hot. However, I popped a chip in my mouth and it was beyond scolding. It literally burnt my mouth. I had to spit my food into a tissue as the tears steamed down my eyes. I got an apologetic response from Dermot our server. However, I wasn't able to eat anything whatsoever. Fiona's dinner went to waste also. When the bill came, they managed to even charge for the beer I wasn't able to drink and for Fiona's meal. When I only left the money for Fiona's meal in, the manageress came back asking for more money. Shocked, I just responded that aside from burning my mouth and tongue, unable to eat, you expect me to pay for a drink I couldn't swallow?! Taken aback, she said we didn't have to pay at all. I left the money for Fiona's quarter eaten meal but got no apology. Dermot said as we left that it will be better next time, to which I politely responded that there will not be another next time. Third time's a charm, hey? So my lovely friend Bex M was in Glasgow, and really wanted to go to Bread Meats Bread. She has wee twin babies though, so I messaged them to see if they thought they could accommodate a buggy. I can't express just how helpful they were - they measured and checked areas to let me know what they thought they could do. When we arrived, they managed to get the buggy down to the booth by the window so the babies could chill out while we ate. Onto the food. Now this was only my third visit and I was going to get the Cali burger again until I spotted the buttermilk cornflake chicken sandwich. Oh yeh! I have a real addiction to crispy chicken right now so ordered that, and we got a GlasPoutine to share between the three of us. Food arrived quickly and it was piping hot and amazing. The chicken was so delicious - perfectly crispy, nice and thin without being stingy and really nice and tender in the middle. I'm from Canada and I miss poutine. (Sounds like an AA speech...) I googled 'poutine in Edinburgh' but alas there were no results. Then I googled 'poutine in Glasgow' and was taken to the Bread Meats Bread website. My oh my I was excited! Really cheese curds!! I instantly 'liked' Bread Meats Bread on Facebook and made a mental note to visit them when I next ventured west, to Glasgow. Today was the day!! My boyfriend and I arrived around 130 and didn't wait long for a seat. It's an open plan restaurant/burger joint - very industrial looking. There are two long tables where you can sit communal style. We were greeted by a very friendly waitress. We both went for the regular cheeseburger. Anddddddd oh gosh the burger was amazing. So delicious and juicy. I think some people may be offended by its salt levels but we definitely were not. The brioche bun was fresh and complemented the burger. I really liked the burger sauce and fried onions. I can admit this is the Beat burger I've had in a long time and definitely the best burger I've had this side of the pond. So kudos Bread Meats Bread! Now the poutine: I'll admit that I am a poutine connoisseur. For you non-Canadians, a poutine consists of cheese curbs, gravy and chips. I think the poutine here is quite authentic and tasty. However, I'd prefer it if the gravy was a little bit thicker! Either way, it was still great. (P.s. Poutines get rid of hangovers!) Overall, a great burger and poutine. Time for an update... Sometimes in the past my mind wandered and I would think maybe there is a better burger place in Glasgow. I would journey to "insert one of multitude of burger restaurants here" and immediately think to myself...... WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY. The lesson has been learned now though. There is no other burger place in my mind anymore, Bread Meats Bread is the best show in town. It's not that the service is amazing (its fine, but nothing special), it's not that it's the best location or has the best décor (again both are fine), its because without a shadow of a doubt it does the best burger...... and THE BEST chip dish. The burger for me is the Callie and it is supreme. (Yes its better than the Wolf -Wolf fans -way better) The 4x pattie option when you bite into it for the first time is like being hit with a burger spade of loveliness. Layers of sauce, burger and cheese that whack you over the head and melt in your mouth....... and tend to drip all over the place as well. This is the juiciest most tasty burger you will find in this city - you have my guaranteed promise! Now if that's not enough ive not even got to the equally awesome chips. When I say chips I mean poutine and specifically Glaspoutine. Cheese curds, chips, gravy, extra cheese and then you add bacon on top. Holy moly! To go along with your burger spade, you are then chucked into a bucket of cheesy, gravy, chippy, bacon-y magnificence. I flipping love this dish. I could eat it every day for lunch dinner and breakfast! Well lunch and dinner definitely, maybe every second day for breakfast. So that's the update finished. I was really excited about going to bread meats bread! So many good reviews, so many amazing photos, so many word of mouth recommendations I went in on the bike (free parking for motorbikes in town) and popped in to satisfy my burger urge The place was busy with bustling office workers on their lunch and general burger lovers! Short wait and I got a seat at the window, handed the menu and I started to peruse, so many tantalising choices Went for the Luther Burger with a side of poutine topped with bacon Firstly - I had no idea there was so much poutine coming, it's a generous helping that is easily enough for two, I would say that it had quite a distinct peppery taste to it which I wasn't expecting and honestly wasn't a fan of The burger was a double smashed beef patty with American cheese, candied bacon, beef Mayo, crispy fried onions in a glazed ring donut Now the first 1/4 was amazing, next was just as delish, at the 3/4 mark it was sickly and when I finished it I really wished I hadn't. If you are going to order this, I would recommend splitting it with someone else and them splitting their burger just to balance the palette. It would be nice to have some wet wipes in the dishes that held the cutlery and napkins I left with a beard full of honey and gravy worried as I had an open faced helmet, by the time I arrived at my destination I'd have tonnes of Flies and several small mammals stuck to me, thankfully Mother Nature went against the mighty met offices forecast and rained .... Washing my beard in the process Service was friendly, even though they were really busy they still made time for a revisit. Finally!!! I think everyone in Glasgow has told me to try this place, so here it goes! Quirky decor, quite cool, very busy for a Friday lunch time but we got a table straight away. Which was lucky as there as a queue for the rest of our lunch! We had a great waitress, plus points on having friendly staff :) The food and drinks didn't take too long to come out which was great as I was starving! I ordered the Luther burger just to go for something completely unusual. My boyfriend got The Wolf and friend got the Black and Blue {both enjoyed them very much!} I was a little surprised at how small the Luther burger is in comparison to the other burgers and I'll admit a bit disappointed. By the end of it though I understood why, I think it would just be too much otherwise. The Luther burger consists of a glazed donut for a bun, a burger, candied bacon and heaps of American cheese and a sauce similar to big mac I guess. It was delicious! I'll have another soon please :) Unfortunately their food glory ends with the burgers for me {and my fellow dining buddies} as none of us are many chips! We got a plain bowl and some buffalo {hot sauce and bacon bits}...there were plenty left of both when we finished up. They were just...meh...not too bad but not my taste. Definitely going back soon! My second trip was rewarded! They have new maple bacon sweet potato and choice chips! So moorish and yummy! Bread Meats Bread is the to go place for a great burger in Glasgow. There are at least three other burger places within 2 minutes walk from BMB but waiting for a table there would still be worth it. Everything is decently priced, the staff are really nice and friendly and the overall atmosphere is good. The food though is absolutely stunning. I have tried most of the burgers there and they are always fantastic. The sides have improved a lot over the past few years. Would recommend this place as Glasgow's best burger joint. read more

On nom nom tasty tasty food and its a decent price. Our waiter was just lovely, attentive and informative without being annoying. This is a wee place and you may have to wait to get a seat, we were in for 6pm on a Tuesday and it was packed! The boy ordered a black and blue burger and i ordered the brisket burger, we got a portion of poutine because I love it and some onion rings too. The burger comes in a basket and greaseproof paper and the poutine and rings came in cute enamel bowls. I was asked how I wanted my burger and I said pink. Now this is where they would have lost a star if our waiter hadn't been so brilliant. I don't mind a burger that is cooked through but if I'm asked how I want it I expect it to be how I asked. My burger was off the scale! The burger topped with brisket is the best burger I have had yet! The boys black and blue burger was delicious but mine won hands down for the both of us :-) The poutine was lovely but not the best I've ever had, the gravy was too thick and the chips too chunky but that's just my personal preference The bill came in at £30 and that included booze which I find to be a reasonable price for lots of well cooked food in the city centre. I'm glad I gave it a couple of months for them to settle in. I had heard mixed reviews due to no beer and things missing off the menu but it was all good tonight. Went back again this evening and had another fabulous time! Again, brilliant service and friendly staff. LOVED the bacon wrapped fries - hope they make it onto the menu! I had the brisket this time in a pretzel bun, absolutely loved it, it could have been a bit warmer but it was so tasty I didn't care. Had the coleslaw again and it's still delish, the sweet potato fries were lovely and I managed to have a wee taste of Graeme's onion rings - super crispy and tasty - and Sharon's caramelised sweet potato fries - also lovely but as dessert! (I'm not a fan of sweet stuff with mains and they were very sweet.) They have their license now so are serving some lovely sounding beers and very reasonably priced wine but I only had water as it's a school night. Did finish off with a nice cup of tea though ;) The only thing I don't like is the big table in the middle - was perfect for us as we were a party of 10 and it was very sociable but I find the stools very uncomfortable and there's nowhere to put your coat so I sat with it on my lap all evening which got a bit hot. Other than that, I love this place and will definitely be having brisket again next time. I'm hooked! read more

It's been a few months since my first visit and, on the strength of more recent reviews (go Yelpers!!) we headed back here last night. My main gripes last time were largely attributable to the fact that BMB hadn't been open all that long, the menu wasn't fully available for example. It's very clear that they've acted on feedback and made changes though, massive improvement all round. I'll start with the only downside. It's noise. Very noise. It's quite a small space, with a lot of people crammed in with nothing to baffle the sound so it can make conversation a little tricky if you are seated, as we were, across from one another at the long table in the middle. That aside though, how was the food! Oh my goodness, where to start! I ordered the Smokey Burger and some sweet potato fries, my partner the Full House and Bacon Fries. My burger, with swiss cheese, purple slaw, BBQ sauce and my choice of 'Smoked Meat of the Day' being Beef Brisket was delicious. The burger was nicely pink in the middle, the brisket melted in the mouth and the cheese, slaw and BBQ sauce gave just the right amount of gloopy deliciousness that after the first bite it was hard to put back down! (it was pretty damn hard to get in my mouth as well, massive burger was massive!). Last time the sweet potato fries were ok, but a little greasy and small and... well a bit sad. This time, crisp, salty, sweet, much much better!! My partner's Full House was another massive hunk of food which she assured me was tasty, I did manage to taste some of her bacon fries, and liked the combination of crispy bacon and BBQ sauce over some nice chunky chips. Washed down with a Sam Adams and I was full! The staff are all very laidback, chatty and friendly, and I do like the vibe of the place, if it were a little quieter it would be perfect (but then, I'm old and going deaf, no doubt). I had high hopes when I first visited BMB, and was disappointed, so it's almost all the sweeter that they've upped their game and are producing some excellent food. I'm not sure how I've never actually reviewed Bread Meats Bread?? It's easily my favourite place for burgers in the city!! The food is perfection. Their Cali burger, with mustard fried patties are out of this world and you can choose to have 2, 3 or 4 of them! I actually have to force myself to order something different sometimes as I could happily order this every single time. But I have ordered other items and enjoyed them all. The brisket sandwich is goooooood, the pulled pork with all the tender stem broccoli is even better. And then there's The Wolf of St Vincent Street - one to order if you're hungry. For a place that gets it's burgers so spot on maybe you're thinking the sides are a bit meh? Nope. Chips & bacon, sweet potato fries, coleslaw all great to share but my favourite are the poutines. I always order the Glaspoutine - chips, gravy, cheese curds and grated cheedar. At £4.50 it's huge and could easily be a meal in itself. The restaurant itself is not that large and usually always busy, expect to wait for a table at peak times but somehow the queue always moves quickly and you're seated scoffing awesome food before you know it! Price wise it's very reasonable for the portion size and the quality of the food. I always leave super happy and wondering when I'll be back for more :) I've taken so many friends to Bread Meats Bread for food whilst they've been visiting Glasgow and they'll all loved it as much as me, which makes me happy. I still think about this place. All. The. Time. I was studying abroad from California and I could eat everything off the menu here. I had a lovely waiter who was actually from Canada and we were lucky enough to have indoor seating for our large group at the time. I hope in my lifetime I'll be able to go back. Cheers! read more
