Ordered online. They didn't have record of it when I showed up. Showed them my order reference number, they then found the order, then they claimed I didn't pay. Showed them the paid status in the McDonald's app. Yet they still demanded to see bank transaction and claimed the issue was on my side. I did have the transactions (they double charged) but refused to show them. Doubt I get my money back but will never return. Now this is a franchise fast food restaurant. How do you judge it? It would be unfair to judge it against say an independent steakhouse. I review this against the norm. What would management at McDonald's headquarters expect and how closely do they rate in relation to that goal? As to food quality I think there quarter pounder, cheese burgers etc are at the franchise norm and I have eaten at McDonald's in 3 continents. (Not that this is a big culinary accomplishment- merely a fact) As to cleanliness the restaurant has always appeared clean. So why 5 stars? The ownership historically has been committed to Winchester. 30 years ago when nobody put up old photos in restaurants they had old photos in the store. Eventually they remodeled the store and donated the old photos to the courthouse. As to the wait staff they are sooo friendly. Always a kind word, or a bright smile from the employees. The employees remember you by name and really make a visit to McDonald's an experience. I know it sounds weird but it is true. Now the two drive thrus have a long wait. HOWEVER, it is not due to slow or incompetent staff. This place just had a lot of customers. There is the occasional person in the drive thru that acts like they have never seen a McDonald's menu but this is not the restaurants fault. This restaurant is part of a group owned by the Healy family and their corporate headquarters is located in Winchester. I also appreciate the fact that the McDonald's chain provides free meals to bus drivers and coaches. As a coach I seldom take advantage of this benefit but on occasion I have given all my money away to the athletes on the team and a free cheese burger is appreciated. I have eaten at some dirty and poorly run McDonald's. (I will never eat again at a McDonald's in Spartanburg, South Carolina) This McDonald's is tops in my book. McDonald's is always a go to place for easy dinners or even lunch. However, they do seem to mess orders up quite a lot. You can catch them at lunch rush and the food will be fresh and hot. On this day however, they seemed to get the order correct everything was there and the food was fresh and hot. Being in a rush to get home and eating on the way it wasn't until looking down and seeing my hamburger was half raw. It completely amazed me that they didn't even check the food to make sure it was done all the way or not. I did call them and told the manager, she didn't seem sympathetic over her workers giving out raw meat. I was offered a new burger. read more

This location is not prepared for evening rush. Only had one register open with 12 people in line. Does not respond well to issues raised. Counter help need frustrated customer training as they take criticism personally. Floor staff talked down about management saying they don't address things quickly enough. You have choices in Winchester, albeit few, but you should get better service than this location provides. They have taken 10th minutes to serve my filet of fish meals on both of my last two trips. read more

The wait is always horrible at this McDonalds. Waited in the drive thru for what seemed like forever. When placing the order, the girl was pretty rude. I have given this particular location many tries, and each time I'm disappointed. While the service is okay, the food is never packaged nicely, as in, the cheese is half off of the burger and the buns are always askew. There is always a long drive-through line, but I think that is just because it is the only McDonald's nearby. Kid friendliness - I can't really say as we haven't been inside. But I do know that my kids don't appreciate having to peel the cheese off of the paper that wraps their burgers. read more

I was so disappointed and frustrated this morning with my visit. No only so they never get your order correct but the staff is rude!!!!! I ordered a gallon of sweet tea in the drive thru I was told that it would be a few more minutes and if I didn't mind to park in the take out spot. So I did. We were at this location at 10:30am and the restaurant was a disaster. There were at least 12 employees and the tables were covered in crumbs, dirty, floor looked like it hadn't been mopped in a week, hand AND foot prints on the door! Condiment table was disgusting. Trash cans were overflowing! One employee was walking through with an unlit cigarette in her mouth. No greeting from people behind the counter. No toilet paper in men's restroom. Only moderately busy at that time. Employees yelling orders across the kitchen to one another! We were so disgusted we took our order to go. This was not McDonalds brand. On August 2, 2017, my son and his girlfriend were involved in an accident on I 64. The car was totaled, and the tow truck driver dropped off the kids at this McDonalds. They waited there for hours until I arrived to pick them up. With all of they're contents of the car in a booth, they waited. Several of the employees offered food, but the kids knowing they didn't have any money to pay, turned them down. Other employees would watch they're things as they would use the restroom, or have to go outside to make several phone calls. When I finally arrived we loaded all the stuff, cleaned up and went up to the counter for me to feed these kids who were starving. After ordering, with money in hand, the manager gave us the meal for free, and said we had all been through a lot today and needed a break. His generosity brought tears to my eyes...... I would like to say a BIG Thank You to the manager and all the employees who worked that day, who out of they're hearts, took care of my son and his girlfriend. Thank you so much.!!!! This place needs to get its act together fast. They have NEVER gotten my order right ( I know its hard to understand that PLAIN means nothing on it and not throw extra crap on it) I have had to wait 15 mins to get 2 plain McChickens, which were fully dressed and cold when I eventually got them (was told they had forgotten they asked me to park and wait) after walking back in to get it made correctly which resulted in yet another 15 min wait was given 2 regular sandwiches this time with cheese added to them. When I took them back again I was obviously upset and when they brought them to me ( warm not hot) I decided i had waited long enough...43 mins for 2 sandwiches and just left. I have also witnessed someone bring a puppy in which the manager reached over the counter, take the puppy and start loving on it before walking it to the drive through workers and backline letting everyone pet it. She then proceeded to hand the dog back and everyone just kept working without even a thought of washing their hands. This included the cooks who were handling the food as well as those bagging the food. After writing a very angry email to corporate about this i received an email apologising for " any activity or hygenic actions that may have upset me". That was the total solution to this. This McDonald's is a new store that was just built maybe a year and a half ago. It is clean (usually) and is non-smoking (as is all of Winchester). It is going through renovations and is gaining a McCafe. read more
