I love the glazed doughnuts, but anything with filling is not great here. Instead of pumping the filling into the doughnut, the doughnut is cut in half like a sandwich and spread on. This is both messy and takes away from the experience. I won't be getting any filled doughnuts here in the future. My favorite doughnut is a round cream filled glazed that is really fluffy, but I can't get that here. read more

I loved Franks Donuts when it was first opened. It's went downhill ever since. The last 2 times I had burnt donuts. Today I went inside and there were 3 lady's working drive through and they just ignored me. Finally I got in my care and went through drive through and had the donuts very quick! Sad to say it's my last time to Franks Just tried Franks again. I will never go back! Look at these donuts! The twist has hardly any frosting and the regular glazed smells burnt! What a shame! OMG!! These donuts are so good :) I went on Valentines Day and it was crazy busy! The drive thru was wrapped around the building. People were parked on the street . The inside was very busy too. Everyone was ordering dozens of donuts . Thankfully, when my turn came they had plenty of glazed and chocolate glazed. They were out of long Johns . The smell of cooking donuts was making me hungry . Today, I wanted to investigate Franks Donuts, as there seem to be three Franks Donuts around the outside of Lexington and was curious what they were like. One of the interesting things when I arrived was that it looks like the building used to be a Wendys. Not that it really has anything to do with my review of the donuts. You can order the donuts through the drive thru, but I decided to go inside. I tried five donuts. The Old Fashioned donut was great and had a nice density to it, alongside the chocolate glazed chocolate cake. The maple frosted was nice, but wish it had more maple glaze on the top. The purple frosted donut was interesting, but my friend and I couldn't exactly decide what the flavor was. Our guess was that it was either a rock candy flavor or a Nerds flavor. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great either. The long john's cream filling tasted exactly like Cool Whip. While it's not bad, I felt like it didn't really go with the donut. Still, with buying those 5 donuts, and getting a coffee, it cost just under $5. Definitely worth checking out. read more

Okay y'all. Franks donuts changed my life. You can tell each donut is made with love and care. They were soft, warm, fresh, and perfectly crunchy in all the right spots. The staff was kind and helpful. I've only been here once but I wake up craving these donuts. They beat any big change like Dunkin Donuts and Voodoo donuts. 10/10 recommend. read more

Once in the parking lot, you can follow the crowd and your nose into this great little bakery. Their doughnuts are very fresh and tasty. They almost seem to melt in your mouth. Go there with your order in mind. I got there and was just on an anticipated sugar high. Today I just got 3 bear claws because I am such an addict. They smelled so good. It was a very rushed atmosphere due to all the people waiting in line. Now I know what all the fuss about. Get up, go there, enjoy. Try a bear claw, they are as big as my hand. Awesome donuts! I limited myself to one yeast coconut and it was delicious. The donut was lightly iced so the coconut stuck well. The donut itself was slightly crisp outside and fluffy on the inside. Franks Donuts - Winchester Love the new location and the drive thru. It's good to see a local business using a old building rather than letting it sit empty. I got a dozen glazed through the drive up. My donuts were warm, soft and sugary. The best in town, there is no competition. A suggestion for their business would be to offer a free donut (Franks Choice) of another kind to try with each purchase of a dozen glazed, this would make it the bakers dozen and allow the customer to try something new that may make them order the sampled donut again on the next visit. It would also be nice to see some "exotic" flavor donuts, glazes and such, this would help them stand out even more. read more

I really liked the previous location of Franks on By-Pass road; but the new location is much better--more display, drive-thru, tables for inside enjoyment, and still amazing donuts. Took the grandkids for breakfast before school today. We had Old Fashioneds, blueberry, and Boston Cream, plus coffees & cold Starbucks. Really, out of the 18 states where I've had donuts--and many trips to Dunkin or Krispy Kreme, these are my vote for the best donuts in the USA....not even a contest! LOVE LOVE LOVE. Frank's Donuts has containers constantly on my families kitchen counter. They sell quickly so go early! My favorite is their long john, but I've never had a bad donut from there. They are reasonably priced. Their location is not built for dining in it is meant to grab and go, which is perfect for an early morning customer going to work.
