We were greeted…read morecordially and warmly by the younger Mr. Martin who showed us to our room, and then provided a late afternoon tea as a greeting. We had a lovely spacious room that overlooked a storybook pastoral view, complete with frolicking sheep. In the morning we were provided with one of the best breakfasts we have had at any facility. Breakfast, served amiably and with courtesy by Mr. Martin, allowed a choice from multiple options including a traditional Irish breakfast, porridge with Bailey's or Irish whiskey, and other options. The scones were first rate, and the selection of fresh fruit was one of the best I have seen anywhere - better than many of the finest hotels. Our hostess, Josephine, was most gracious and provided many useful details regarding the sites to see in the area, and navigation to them, as well as our next destinations. She recommended a walking tour of Derry that was of unusually good quality. All in all, I would have to agree that it is not an exaggeration to state that this is the best B&B in Ireland. The Martin family sets the standard for caring for the traveler. They evince a level of care and warmth that clearly transcends that of a mere business concern.

The room was incredibly spacious. The best shower I've ever had outside the U.S. -- hot and with excellent water pressure. Great breakfasts as you'd expect (my personal recommendation is the French Toast with cheese and tomato). Golfers who've been to Bandon Dunes, it's like staying at The Inn, but with friendly, warm personal service. *Perfectly* positioned about a three wood and a nine-iron from the pro shop at Portstewart and only a 10-minute drive to Royal Portrush. Will DEFINITELY be back here with friends on our next trip.

His son, Thomas, even took a day off work, came back from Belfast, to meet us and play golf with us! My husband and dad were thrilled! The accommodations at the Strand House are amazing. The rooms are comfortable and clean. The breakfasts are delicious and healthy. Ernestine's scones -- Oh. My. Goodness. So heavenly. The house is just far enough from the bustle of the town, and about 30 minutes from Giants Causeway and the Rope Bridge. You would be hard pressed to find better accommodations for the value. We definitely plan on going back.

Three very young waitresses, poor listening skills, busy chatting with each other. They did get busy when a middle aged man showed up (owner?) ;-) Food ordered: fish and chips came with side salad. Chips arrived lukewarm and limp; fish ok; tartar sauce lacking any personality as did the side salad. Perhaps: come for the music not the food or service.
