What are the odds?? While having a garage sale last Friday a buyer and I discussed our pets and she shared that she used Dr. McGuire and he was great! We didn't have a Vet in town yet for our dog. Little did I know that same night our dog would have a bout w vomiting and I would have to call someone at 1:30 am. Well, not only did Dr McGuire call us back right away and give us instructions without us being his clients, but his staff fit us in the next morning. Today he personally called us to check on our dog. Staff was caring and cordial with us, service was superb and we have found a Vet we trust for our dog. I can't thank McGuire veterinary services enough! After a very scary night having my 13 year old Pitbull seize 5 times I called them on a Saturday and they got me in within hours. The front desk staff was friendly and upbeat and Dr. McGuire was patient and thoroughly informative and reassuring. We went from thinking our beloved fir any would die to comprehensive info showing hyoid health and a plan to try to combat the seizures. The hope for extra time and a plan to help our fir baby was priceless... the wonderful caring and positive staff was what will make us gone back and recommend to EVERYONE who is looking for a great vet! We were here on a small family vacation and our little toy pom had an accident at the river. He was tied to the EZ up when a gush of wind picked it up (yes, it was anchored down) and flew up into the air about 20 feet with our little guy attached to it! Then came crashing down! We thought the worse. He was crying and whimpering of course, we called Dr. McGuire. It was after hours and he still returned our call, we weren't even his patients and he still took the time to call us back and asked us some guiding questions. We made an appointment the next day (even though he wasn't accepting new patients). Our little guy is fine, just a little sore and some bruising. Dr. gave him an anti-inflammatory and pain shot. Our 8 year old Papillion was terminally ill, and was being treated at a different animal hospital. However, that Vet closed down and left and the time came when her health failed and it was time to put her to sleep. With my vet gone, I took her to McGuire's. This was my very first visit. The veterinary staff was amazingly kind and understanding. They let me hold her while it was done so she wouldn't be scared. Dr. McGuire was very kind and understanding. Even as I was crying harder than I had in a decade, they all we very patient, kind, and understanding. Two days later I revived a condolence card , hand written and signed by Dr. McGuire. It even included several poems about losing the pets we love. I had not been a regular customer, yet Dr. McGuire went this extra mile to show he cared. This past Sunday, our Maggie girl passed away suddenly from heart failure. Because of a heart valve defect, we knew this was a possibility, but came as a shock none the less. We were on vacation at the time and are not from the Lake Havasu area. Not knowing who to turn to, especially on a Sunday, we called Dr. McGuire's office and got his answering service. Dr. McGuire called us back after just a few minutes and was very helpful. He agreed to wait at his office for over an hour while we made the drive over to him. He received Maggie's body, made arrangements to have her cremated and agreed to hold her ashes for us until we could get back and pick them up. His kindness and obvious compassion were a tremendous comfort to our family at a very difficult time. For him to go so above and beyond, especially for people that live so far away and can't become regular customers is a testament to his character. We were visiting family in Lake Havasu City and having fun by the water when our dog was unexpectedly bitten by a rattlesnake. Being a Sunday all veterinary clinics were closed and we were desperate for help and Dr. McGuire and his clinic were the only ones that helped, even on their day off. He was quick to get to the clinc and get started taking care of our pup. I've never appreciated someone being so fast to help in our time of need. Excellent customer service! Compassionate and helpful! One of our Scottish terriers stepped on a wasp with a back paw... It was wedged in between the pads and still alive when I discovered what was making our little girl so unhappy and miserable. Took her and the wasp in and they suggested we give her 12.5 mg Benadryl 2 x a day until the swelling and heat abates. No charge. Amazing! read more

Dr. McGuire and his staff took great care of our Beagle after she was attacked and wounded by another dog. She needed stitches, a drain, and had to stay with them for a few days. The Dr. called us numerous times a day, even on a Sunday, to let us know how she was doing. He was careful to review everything with us when we picked her up and explained everything in a way we could understand it. Our girl is now home, resting, and recovering. I established a relationship with this vet in 2018. On May 15, 2019, one of my cats developed a medical emergency. I called his office TWICE and left messages with the receptionist to get her in. Dr. McGuire was supposed to call back. NO CALL BACK. I could not get her in to see any Lk Havasu City vet. I ended up going to a clinic in Kingman and she was seen right away. She had surgery to remove an ingested sewing needle; also, was diagnosed with diabetes. STILL WAITING FOR THAT CALLBACK!!!!!! read more

Hazel and I like Dr McGuire and his staff very much, very professional, kind and gentle. They have treated Hazel for a broken toe in March which required several visits until she completely healed. She was spayed on Tuesday and I brought her home by 4pm, she was pretty out of it and wouldn't eat or drink so she slept the rest of the afternoon and all night. I was pretty shocked when first thing in the morning I heard her walking around playing and chewing on her toys as if nothing ever happened. I looked at the incision, super clean and small with no swelling, WOW...... nice job!!!! I had not givin her any follow up pain meds yet so I was really amazed at how perkey and bright eyed she was. I gave her a meal fit for a queen (ground turkey and chopped up lean steak) and she had a great appetite and was fine. 48 hours later now and she is showing no signs of discomfort. I am thrilled!! You will not find a better clinic! We've seen both Dr. Prush and Dr. McGuire. Both are extremely professional and knowledgeable. They take the time to explain everything and outline the potential costs for investigating health issues and treatment options in advance. Both call frequently to follow up on ill and injured pets. Dr. McGuire did a terrific job with emergency surgery on my dog last week. Thanks to his skills we're enjoying much more time with our favorite animal! read more

Dr. McGuire Has been our vet for over 6 years now, he has always been very caring and concerned when we have gone to see him. You can just tell he likes his job and loves animals. We had a scary event with our 2 year old Corgi, she had a seizure and I called his office late on a Saturday night, Dr. McGuire called right back and gave us valuable information and alleviated my fears, then called back Sunday morning to check on her. This animal hospital used to be great. I don't know what happened but they are now rude and have no customer service skills. I arrived there with my cat at the scheduled appointment time. They did greet me when I walked in the door and I went into the room for my cat to be examined. The lady that was with the doctor was the only one in the room at first. She had zero personality skills and did not say anything when she entered the room. The doctor was a fill-in doctor for Dr. Maguire due to the fact that he's on vacation. The fill-in doctor was pleasant and courteous professional and helpful. After the appointment I went to pay there were two ladies behind the desk. One helped me as she took my credit card, ran it, set the credit card back onto the table and walked away. There was not a thank you. There was no description of how to use the medication for my cat. I said you're welcome as I did not get so much as a thank you from the receptionist. I called after I had left and thought about it and I voiced my complaint. The receptionist called me a liar and said that she thanked me twice and that everyone there said I was rude. I asked her specifically how I was rude and she said that I screamed at her when I left. I said what exactly did I say? She stated that I said you're welcome in a rude tone. I was very careful when I said you're welcome to not say it in a rude tone but in a tone that would let them know that I was not pleased that I did not receive a thank you. The receptionist continued to yell at me on the phone and tell me that what I said was all untrue and that she thanked me twice and that everyone thought I was rude including the customers. This would be impossible for anyone to think I was rude when I said nothing to them except the two words you're welcome. She transferred me to the lady that was at the front desk with her because she didn't want to speak to me anymore. The lady got on the phone and was rude right off the bat. She had a sing songy tone when she was speaking to me and that's when I told her that I'd like to speak to the doctor and she said he is not available to speak to me. I told her I would like a refund that I would be going elsewhere with my services. She told me that I would not be getting a refund and that the test had already been sent out because they come pick them up at 4:30. It was 4:20when I was on the phone. I am aware that there are many people who go to this animal hospital. As a matter of fact I had just the previous day recommended them to one of my friends. I will no longer be recommending this animal hospital and will make sure that others are aware of their inappropriate way of handling their customers. Perhaps it was due to the fact that their boss Dr. Maguire was out of town. I did let her know that I wouldn't let Dr. Maguire know and she said that she didn't care and please do so. There are definitely a lot of other vets in this town and I would encourage anyone to seek other places for their animals services and needs. I went back to get my money back and they were still just as rude. My fiancé did manage to get them to refund my money. We left with our two stories being completely different still. Over $300 for a diagnosis of UTI which we suspected in the first place but vet decided to take to most expensive route in diagnosing. We just took our other dog in for same thing and it was $150 with meds. And they found out he was diabetic. McGuires seems to be about profit and not for the animals which is why all our dogs go to paws and claws right down the street. Amazing staff willing to answer any questions and if they don't know they will find out.Dr Luna is very smart but she didn't explain things very well and ended up with an visit. Dr Novak is an also amazing and thourough. Dr forssii at paws &claws is our favorite. Very caring, smart, and discuss all our options thorough and doesn't look down on you because of your choices. However she will stres her concerns. They always call and remind you and call for a follow up. Everyone I knew who went her now goes to paws and claws or Novak animal care hospital.
