Every single person I spoke with was rude and disrespectful, except one very professional lady that was in the president office I believe, student accounts, financial aid, and enrollment services, I believe the man in student enrollment, said he is the supervisor is racist because he refused to help or transfer to the president office telling me he doesn't take calls like this, so I had my coworker to call on speaker and they transferred her with no problem. I don't understand how people still get jobs with bias.

That's a great opportunity for an archeology class, to experience hands on digging and discovery. Be sure to check out the remains in the science building. The architecture is mind blowing. The buildings designed by Bernard R. Maybeck are breath taking. His creative style of designing buildings, should be studied by today's architects. Maybeck designed for Principia between 1924 and 1940 and you'd never think his buildings were build during that time in history. I liked how they don't call the student housing, dorms. They call them, houses and I can tell you that they look more like a house than a dormitory. The "living room" on the main level was spectacular. Even the furniture was overstuffed and out of an Architectural Digest. I was impressed with the size of rooms the students had. They were bigger than someone's bedrooms. The historical Chapel is a beauty to behold, so be sure to check it out. It's close to a bluff, so the view is spectacular in the fall, but also good for the other seasons, as well. A notable graduate and a favorite actor of mine, the Oscar winning, Robert Duvall graduated in 1953 with a degree in drama. Next time you're heading up to Grafton for fun, stop by Elsah and check out the only Christian Science College in the world.

Pros first: thank you for opening up your facility for athletes of all ages to show they talent and compete in an competition full of kids considering they could be doing activities that would lead them down the wrong path. It's a beautiful thing to see all our children compete and enjoy it and leave with recognition and sense of worth. This facility is very nice, clean and fit all families comfortably. Cons : the service of cellphones is nonexistent. It's like once you get inside the facilities your connection to the outside world is gone. That is terrible that no Wi-Fi was available for an all day event . No heat was available as well. We had to sit with coats on for 8 hrs and with that coldness comes headaches and sniffles. My son is a senior so I don't have to deal with this any longer but for future events please think of these small cons and try to address them asap.

Maybe I'm biased because I got my BS here and I'm on the Alumni Association board, but I guess I…read moresay involved because this school was great when I was a student and fun to visit as a resident of the surrounding community. When I was a student here, I was injured and couldn't go to class for 6 weeks. To allow me to stay a full-time student, the school sent someone to my house to administer tests and quizes and collect my homework. I only had to take one incomplete (had to do in-class presentation) even though I was laid up for weeks. The education I got has given me great opportunities in my career. As a visitor, I love the Gardens, paved trails, and unpaved bike trails for walking my dog. There's also programs (i.e., Arts & Issues) for the community to attend. If you haven't seen the campus in a while, you should drive through and see all of the new buildings going up. Just be sure to keep it to 25mph and stop for the pedestrians. Oh yeah, and beware of the geese.

When I pause to think about all that SIUE offers to E'ville residents, it's really quite a package. I have family members and friends among alumni and faculty, and they are better suited than I to comment on the educational experience. Personally, I occasionally go to concerts, lectures, and games. On a more regular basis, I use Lovejoy Library, the Gardens and associated trails for walking/biking, and Cougar Lake, which actually has better fishing than most people realize (caught a BIG largemouth bass there just yesterday). At this juncture, my yelpin' desire to give props conflicts with my fisherperson instinct to preserve the best water. You'll have to find the fish yourself!

The LeClaire Room is what draws me here, a fine architectural renovation of a space that once was…read morethe art department of SIUE, before that the Wagner Electrical Corp., and, before that, the N.O. Nelson Plumbing Fixture Co. The cathedral ceiling and skylights give the room good daylight, even on gray winter days. A computer projection system with dual screens makes it one of the best large-group presentation spaces in E'ville. My rotary club meets here on a weekly basis, my non-profit has used it twice for fundraiser dinners, and I've been here for a handful of other community events. The website says the room will seat 250, but 200 is more like the comfortably seated capacity. If you start checking it out for your event, then you'll discover that you book the room through L&CCC, but make arrangements for food through Bella Milano, the exclusive caterer.
