I'm giving you the honest truth about this college. This is going to be long...so please sit down. I would NEVER recommend this college to ANYONE. Everyone lives in a bubble here, well not everyone but the vast majority do. I went here with the positive idea that I would be here to share similar views on religion and life. I knew this was a dry campus (no drugs, alcohol, sex allowed) well...even no medicine of any kind is allowed. My first quarter I fell down a flight of stairs and they all wanted me to pray about it, I thought this was nice but I really wanted to seek medical help. They took me to the campus 'medical center' and they just put a gauze bandage around my knee and said I should seek the help of a practitioner. The kids that attend this college are usually white upper middle to upper class of society. I fit in this category but did not like the fact that it seemed to be really segregated. There are a lot of African (from Africa) students who attend this school for FREE...whereas the rest of the campus has to pay the huge fees to attend the college. All in all I received a great education and met a few people that I really liked. But, their views on religion were so extreme that I eventually (meaning my 3rd year there) began to not believe anything they said and kept to the studies. I moved out of the dorms because the house parents were horrible...wouldn't help you/talk with you/guide you in any way. I had issues with all roommates I had, one changed her feminine products in the room and kept them in a trash bag hanging from her closet...another would sleep in my bed when I was gone on weekends, and the best was a roommate that would eat in the room and leave moldy food all over her side of the room. I explained this to the house mother and she did nothing...said that I need to work with them on the issues I was having (um I did...but I'm not about to clean up after slobs...thats not why I'm there). So I eventually moved in with a family member, which I had to write letters and have it approved so I could do this...and eventually it was approved. Please don't think this is a great school because Robert Duvall went here...or that Val Kelmer often comes to visit...they are there for 2 hours and that's it. This is a whacky school filled with whacky people...

==Service: 5 Star== Students will have the best service here…read morein this college. They have all the students need to complete their assignment even if you are home, students can access the library online. LC staffs are really friendly and they are willing to help student to achieve a better in their classes. There is a lot of campus activity if the student love this kind of thing. For sport they have almost have all of it. There is some classes that are just offered in edwardsville campus. students are really force to go there and take their classes. -Tips:- If you are struggling on writing, you can access the writing center in the library at the main building. They are very nice and friendly, and will help you a lot. I recommend the students go to the student success center because it is free and they will really help you a lot in your studies. be more active on activities so that will make students resume pretty. ==Atmosphere: 5 Star== This place is so clean. One thing that is bothering for some students is that some building are old and every time you step on the floor students will hear a creaking sound. ==Cost: 4 Star== The cost is perfect for everyone its not that high and not too low. it will cause you around $1300 - $2000 per semester. They accept Financial Aid, scholarship and other grants. ==Instructor: 4 Star== I encounter the best teacher in this campus. but some of my friends didn't. That is the reason why I scored this as 4 star. In my two years studying on this campus, all of the Instructor are very nice and approachable when a student need help. -Tips: I recommend Jim Price for being an awesome film art teacher, Dr. Gerald Mozur for logic reasoning, Jenny Margarida for English, Coral Kimble on Math, and Pat Rzewnick for speech class, If you're taking calculus. I recommend Fred Sexton, Open book exam. And he is very approachable and helpful. Note: This is just my previous instructor that are very helpful and nice. It is your choice to pick this instructor or not. I am not responsible for anything.

I hated my time here at McKendree University. I had to graduate early just to get away from the…read moreplace. Not only are most of their dorms old and worn down, there is constantly a bug infestation. During the fall, the stink bugs get so bad that they invade the inside of your living space, and McK is too poor to pay someone to come and spray for the bugs. One time a friend of mine had fleas in her apartment from the LAST resident. Do you know what that means? There were fleas in that apartment ALL summer until the fall when McKendree ALLOWED students to move into it. That is gross. Also, McKendree knowingly knew that one of their coaches was a predator. Years went by of athletes complaining and informing the athletic director that the coach was SLEEPING with some of his female athletes. That is absolutely wrong. The old president that just retired was allowed to go on sabbatical, a period of PAID leave for someone who was retiring!? Does that make any sense? Usually when you get paid to go on sabbatical, you are expected to come back and continue working. That is not the case as the President was recently replaced. When the sports teams struggle to fundraise money in order to travel, stay in hotels, and feed their athletes. Speaking of feeding their athletes, Ames, the dining hall is known for their food poisoning. Many of the students here at McKendree know which foods they should stay away from and this leaves them with poor options such as pizza, sandwiches, or even cereal for DINNER. I honestly cannot believe how sad McKendree's campus is. Public Safety is more concerned about busting people for smoking in their rooms than making sure the students are safe on campus. There are holes in the walls. Stains on the carpets. Refrigerator handles have been known to break off and people's hands. Will the students get a refund on the money they spent during their 2020 second semester even though they won't actually be living on campus on attending in-person class?? Absolutely not because that is just how McKendree is. Our newest building is PAC and the new dormitories, but there is only a limited amount of space for students to get into those dorms and one side is specifically for freshmen. In 2019 when registration for housing began, after the SENIORS signed up, there is barely any housing for juniors or sophomores. And if you ever consider living at the Suites just remember, it is three rooms with two people in each that all share a bathroom. They are dirty, dingy, and falling apart but the cheapest option for many students considering McKendree is too expensive. You may be wondering if McK is so expensive, why don't they have money? Exactly, their numbers are currently dropping and many of the sport's teams are desperately trying to recruit/entrap, as many athletes as possible. The only good thing I can say I received from McKendree were the friends I had the opportunity of making and some of the professors are amazing. Others are opinionated and if you don't do it their way or they don't like the way you answered a question, you're out of luck. And if you're reading this and thinking that I am just one student with a bad opinion about McKendree, trust me there are more who are gone or have graduated who are so, so happy that they no longer have to be at McKendree University. Thank you for your time.
