Would you like a lawyer that: Advocates for you? Communicates with you? Possesses a sense of urgency? Instills a sense of reassurance or partnership with you? Takes notes regarding your case and then actually refers to them in the future? Makes eye contact with you? Remembers your name? If you answer "Yes" to any of the above questions, then Mr. McHugh is not the lawyer for you. Instead, if you would like a lawyer that: Starts off your first consultation by saying: "I don't mean to insult your intelligence..." and then does exactly that. Makes you feel like a simpleton because YOU don't understand the law or the intricacies of the court. Requires continual hand-holding, follow-up, and prompting from you for any action to be taken on your behalf. Does not respond in a timely manner to your calls, voicemails, or emails. Simply forwards emails to you from the court or the opposing counsel with no explanatory comment or additional context. Forces the opposing counsel to write a hardcopy letter to your lawyer that starts with: "I have been trying to reach you. Please give me a call." Just to get a response and discuss terms. When confronted, admits that his communications with you have not been "up to par" and yet is no more proactive or transparent in future interactions. If you answered "Yes" to any of these questions, then congratulations! Mr. McHugh is your kind of lawyer. If you retain Mr. McHugh, expect to pay full price for less than full service. You will be left in the dark and then get billed for doing your own case management and communication. Mr. McHugh failed to put forth even the minimum expected effort for a retained attorney. At no time in handling my case did he proactively reach out to me with information, options, or communications to bring my case to a timely resolution. In every interaction it was up to me to initiate communication or prompt him to take action in contacting opposing counsel or continually remind him to ensure key elements I desired were included in the iterative drafts of court documents. The gut-wrenching process of a divorce or custody dispute is draining and comes at a high emotional cost. Paying for an attorney that is distant, disengaged, and unresponsive only compounds the cost. Had Mr. McHugh expended half the effort on my behalf that I spent on writing this online review, I would have avoided a great deal of unnecessary anxiety, stress, and fees. Save yourself the trouble, frustration, and headache of my experience. Keep searching and find a helpful and committed lawyer to represent you.

My ex-husband wanted 50% of our daughter's SSI ; If you know ANYTHING about SSI, it is federal law that you can NOT give SSI monies to ANY individual under ANY circumstances, including another parent, when you are your child's "Guarantor", or your child will lose their funds completely. Christy, was NOT prepared and lost my case to an appointed Commissioner on the bench. She looked at me and said "That's the way it is", when the Commisioner made the order. I then hired a different attorney, who turned that train around. Now there are laws in place that protect disabled individuals (children) from having their benefits play apart in divorce monies. SHAME on Christy. My experience: She doesn't NOT fight to protect your children. She doesn't fight to make sure the law and your rights are upheld. I believe she perhaps collaborates with opposing counsel to determine the outcome, without you knowing. She was not a good attorney in my case. This was my experience with Christy.

From my personal experience, I feel that Ms. Brown handled my daughter's case with a lack of care, urgency, and righteousness. There were serious concerns brought to her attention during my supervised visits with my daughter including an incident where my daughter was dropped off to me after allegedly consuming a weed edible. As a father, this was alarming, heartbreaking, and something I believed required immediate action and strong advocacy. Despite sharing these concerns, I felt that Ms. Brown did not take appropriate steps to address the situation or ensure my daughter's safety was fully prioritized. In my view, her overall handling of the case in the North Butte County courthouse left me feeling unsupported and unheard as a parent who simply wants the best for his child. Because of my experience, I cannot recommend her services. I strongly encourage other parents to be cautious and to thoroughly evaluate any counsel representing their children. I am also in the process of seeking guidance and reviewing options with the State Bar regarding how my daughter's case was managed, as I believe every child deserves representation that is diligent, responsive, and committed to their well-being. This review is not written out of anger, but out of truth and responsibility as a father. I put God first in everything I do, and I believe accountability, integrity, and righteousness must guide every professional who works on behalf of a child. God bless. -- Cristian F.

He helped me get out of a funk. I had made a stupid mistake, and he was assigned to me because I couldn't afford a lawyer. I am so lucky to have received helped from him of all people. Unfortunately, there was no way out of my case because of my actions, but YEARS later, I struggled to get a job and maintain a life because of my record. My newly assigned public defender wouldn't even pick up my calls, and when she finally did she said she couldn't help me. I had finished my probation, and I wanted to expunge my case. I was desperate and asked Attorney Williams. He kindly agreed to help me out. This consisted of multiple areas I needed help with. He guided me through the whole process of expungement, even confirming my documents before I showed up. We met at the courthouse, and he stood up for me. My case got dismissed, and I don't know what I would've done without him. He did this out of the kindness of his heart. He absolutely did NOT need to do this by obligation, but he helped me out. I appreciate you so much Attorney Williams! You would be foolish not to do business with him.
