The care and professionalism cleanliness all excellent. The lighting the restrooms, the reception area all impressive.

I love Mc Knight Eye center. Have been going there for I believe around 10 years. Front desk staff, technicians and doctors are all fabulous. (Only criticism.=I am "not happy"to see that they have gone to "Phyreesia" a new appointment system requiring complicated phone or online form to checkin for appointments. Having previously endured another physicians office using this system I gave up trying to wade through the new form and arrived early, where the staff assisted me. Hopefully this will become easier for me in time.) I first went to McKnights because I thought I had a droopy eyelid affecting my vision. Testing showed that this was not a problem. I discovered instead that, like my grandmother, I was developing glaucoma and cataracts. I remembered helping my grandmother for years with her nightly eyedrops and my brother lost use of one eye to macular degeneration so I was thankful I had not put off eye care. I had also developed type2 diabetes so eye care is also important with that. I began using prescribed eye drops and had regular 6 month exams to monitor the pressure in my eyes. Eventually the cataracts advanced enough that Dr. Brett suggested surgery. This was done at a different nearby office by another of the McKnight family. It was also mentioned that it might also be possible to do something surgically to help with the glaucoma. The surgeries went very well. I was able to go from wearing my trifocals to only wearing reading glasses. Stents were placed in each eye that help reduce the build up of pressure caused by my type of glaucoma. I still had to use the eye drops for a few months but follow up showed the stents were working and I was able to stop using the nightly eyedrops. I now have 6 month checkups and have recommended their office to friends. The waiting room is large and very comfortable with a pod coffee machine. The wait is sometimes too short for that coffee but no problem having one on the way out. If you happen to have an appointment around the holidays you will be impressed with how creative they can be with decorating. read more

I wasn't a patient here when I had an eye emergency (possible retinal tear.) They arranged an appointment within hours so Dr. McKnight himself could examine my eye(s). Luckily I didn't have a tear. Being a transplant from the late great state of Oregon and marxist city of Portland I decided on McKnight Eye Center as my ophthalmologist since I am diabetic, have had cataract surgery and may be developing glaucoma, so finding someone competent was imperative. Like many reviewers my experience was mixed. First and foremost Dr Scott McKnight is clearly competent and friendly. That said, I found the people manning the front desk less than overtly friendly and welcoming, just not a good vibe. My wait time was not unreasonable but this does seem to be a very busy operation. Your mileage may vary. The backend assistants were friendly and I have no complaints there. Oddly, they don't take vision insurance - just your regular medical plan be it Medicare or a private plan. I was initially booked a couple months out and when asked if I'd be notified of any earlier cancellations I was told I'd have to call in. What? As it turned out I did call in early and was able to move my appointment up so it worked out but one would expect the office to call out when there is a cancellation. So at the end of the day they got the job done but this office needs to hire a customer service trainer to hold a one day seminar to get the front office staff up to par. That would do wonders for the customer experience. Since I feel I got good care and advice from Dr McKnight I'm sticking with them and would recommend his practice - just don't expect to be coddled. read more

Every time I schedule an appointment, it is within of few days of calling. Never had to wait weeks or months for my appointments. I've met with several doctors here and all are friendly and helpful with my concerns. It really makes a difference when walking into their rooms and always greeted with sincerity. I went to see Dr Dustin McKnight for a consult for Lasik. I thought the front desk was friendly and efficient. The woman that took me back first for all my tests and measurements was not only nice, she explained everything she was doing, and why each test was necessary. Once I met with Dr Dustin, he took time to explain to me the options I had, and the plus and minus of each option he gave. He took the time to answer all my questions and helped my make a plan. I have not scheduled my surgery yet, but I feel safe in his care and am excited for my next step. read more

I'm not even a patient just someone waiting on a patient for an eye exam, not surgery and the wait time is RIDICULOUS! It's almost 2 hours past the original appointment time and the doctor has yet to see the patient! This office needs to manage their time better, If you have to tell your patients to expect to be at the office for 90 mins then maybe don't take on as many patients in one day. I thought primary care office waits were bad! This place has them beat! read more

Dr. Scott McKnight is awesome, but the Ophthalmologist assistants are so abrupt and rude!! You'd think they hate their jobs !! Had the same experience with the surgery counselor as well. The receptionists and doctors are friendly and very nice, but the whole experience was disappointing in customer service by the assistants! Misleading information,changes depending which one you talk to. They treat you like you should know their job when you ask a question and some couldn't even remember which eye you were there for! Expensive process to be treated so badly! And be prepared to wait way past your appointment time! read more

I went for a vision field test related to a brain tumor. The receptionists can barely speak, cannot say good morning, thank you, kiss my foot, nothing. There's a clipboard that says expect to be there 90 minutes, so you know right away they don't care about you. The girl who did my vision field exam chatted to me the entire time so instead of being able to concentrate on where the lights were flashing I had to chat with her. When I asked questions about the test she kept saying she was just the assistant and didn't know anything about the test (or that she should let the patient take the test rather than complain about her personal life). The visual field test results were useless and I ended up having to go to KU Eye Clinic to get the whole thing done again. read more

Would not recommend Dr. McKnight to anyone. Had a procedure done 6 years ago and have had nothing but problems since. He would not consult with me when I called his office knowing something was wrong and his nurse told me over time it would get better. Never did. When I went for my regular eye exam (different Dr) 1 year later she asked what had happened to my eye. When I told her about the procedure I had done she said it should not look like this and asked me to see an eye surgeon. Once the new eye Dr. walked in and looked at my eye with the face of shock, I became instantly ill. I'm 49 years old and have come to realize my eye will never be normal. read more

Mary B. I have both of my eyes done here. I was looking through fog all of the time. I couldn't even drive. I thought I was going blind from my diabetes. Instead I had very thick and bad cataracts in both eyes. My first eye was done on February 27th. The next day I could see every thing so clear. Yesterday March 15th I had my right eye done and yesterday evening I could see again without having to cover my right eye. Love the doctors but the wait in the secondary waiting room is consistently too long. 30 to 45 minutes isn't unusual.

I would not recommend this eye center. They do not take the time to explain anything to you. I had a $3000 surgery and within a week and a half had to have the surgery done over by another eye specialist. read more

Since I have never had cataract surgery, I have no idea if there is better or not. I would hope there is. I could only afford the basic contact lens replacement, they told me I would still need glasses for close up work or reading. I needed it then, so it did not bother me that I would need them after surgery. What I did not know was that I would be basically blind in close up work or reading or even seeing. I also need glasses for distance. They gave me the prescription to take to my regular vison doctor, and they had to redo. I also had a crease in my right eye that I would have to pay for again to get fixed with no guarantee it would fix it. 33% of cataract patients get a crease? They don't tell you that. Or that you have to pay to get it fixed. Not to happy during surgery or after surgery. Felt like a piece of meat getting called back, cut up and sent home. No personalization. Your time is nothing to them. Don't plan anything else on the days of the appointments. read more
