It is put together really well, and all the immersive parts are really great. I think that anyone coming to Fayetteville would enjoy this museum. It is free, but they take small donations to keep up with all the maintenance ect. The gift shop is really impressive as well and you can find something neat for anyone!

It offers two floors of galleries , exhibits and displays . The museum also offers interactive activities for both kids and adults like a museum scavenger hunt and activities in the museum courtyard. On the day we visited I was able to use indigo to dye a small planter and then plant a tomato seed in the planter . Nice , clean bathrooms and free parking . Plan to spend at least an hour or so here depending on how much you read and any activities you do .

I really can't believe how well everything was laid out, pictures, information and more. We spent a little more than an hour in the museum. Then he took us into the large room where he spoke to us about all the displays from the different wars. There was a map on the wall from Nam and I showed my wife where i was. I discussed with the owner and he told us some stories about the vets that go there. They raise money to help vets and have meals there. My wife and I bought a couple of things from their store. Plenty of parking for all sizes of RV's and I would recommend going here even with children. Look up and see a Cessna crop duster hanging from the ceiling. If you are a vet or not make sure you see his displays and hear his stories.

They had many exhibits that our 7 & 12 year old enjoyed but they thoroughly enjoyed the second floor galleries with the dinosaur exhibit and the habitat exhibits. Staff was very friendly and helpful when fielding our questions. They also enjoyed seeing the the history of SC through the years represented through artifacts and the changes from the colony, war, and industrialization of the city with mills and the railroad. They also have a planetarium and a 4D shows offered throughout the day. Highly recommend adding this to your itinerary if you are in the Columbia area! The selection of exhibits were fun to see and educational.

My son really enjoyed an old theater where you could see vintage cartoons. And one area you could see a picture of what the building looked like when it was a factory. A. and Josephine Poe. Mr. Poe owned Poe Brick Company. The house is on the National Register of Historic Places. The house is currently getting some much needed maintenance and painting done so make sure to check in advance if it will be open the day you want to visit. The guided tour takes about an hour. The house is a Victorian Style and built from a kit. The wrap around porch and the intricate detailing outside is impressive. The inside of the house is in great condition and has tall ceilings; wide doors and the woodwork is very impressive. It gives a glimpse into early 20th century life. The house has two staircases one for the family and another for the servants. The servants were provided living quarters. The kitchen is detached from the house as the oven was on all day. I highly recommend visiting this beautiful house.
