My infant son went in for a clear case of Hand/Foot/Mouth and ended up stuck in the hospital for two days on a wild goose chase where the doctors claimed they believed he had a rare condition not seen in probably 40+ years.........it turned out to be hand/foot/mouth, and a traumatic experience for my child. I had fell and went to the ER. When I fell I hit my head on concrete, slid on the concrete and passed out for a minute. After checking in I was put in a wheel chair and sat out front in waiting room. People were coming and going in the ER. No one came out to check on me or asked how I was doing. We had a very long wait. I felt like at least someone could have checked on me and asked how I was doing. I know others had to see the doctor but some one could have asked me. At 77 years old I would think someone would be interested in how I was.. Then when I was took to the back, I had to lay on a gurney for over an hour. No one asked how I was doing. I was so disappointed in my visit. I understand they were very busy but still I needed to know you care. read more

Extremely poor patient care. Best friends mom arrived at ER at 8:30pm yesterday with chest pain. They did an EKG and blood work, on her mom and stuck her back in the ER waiting room. We arrived at 10:00pm and she was still sitting in the waiting room in a wheelchair, with an IV port still in her arm. The blood work should have shown if there was a cardiac event and the results should have been available in 30 min or less. We were with her from 10pm to 12am and no one ever checked on this cardiac patient. At midnight she had enough of sitting in a wheelchair in the ER and decided to go home. She had to have the IV port removed. No one questioned her about asking to have the IV port removed. She was provided no information about the results of the bloodwork and given no instructions on what she should do. It is outrageous that they placed a patient, with congestive heart failure and there because of chest pain, in a room with people with a multitude of symptoms. I was also shocked at the lack of security. There was security personnel there, however, we were not required to submit any ID. We weren't required to provide the name of the patient we were there with and visitor passes were a joke. A paper sticker with visitor scribbled on it. In summary: After arriving, with diagnosed congestive heart failure, complaining of chest pain, placed in an unsafe ER waiting room for 3_1/2 hours in a wheel chair. Not a single staff member checked on her condition. After a complete lack of care she decided to go back home after midnight. Even when the McLeod staff had to remove the IV port no one provided any information on the results of her bloodwork or EKG. She was not given any instructions about follow up or even how to get the results. For a hospital that claims to be renowned for its Cardiac care to say that their performance was pathetic is an understatement. read more

I arrived on time for a scheduled outpatient procedure. I waited over an hour prior to returning to the front desk and asking if I had missed hearing my name called. I was told "no, there's only four rooms back there and they have to finish one before they can move another patient in" I asked "is waiting an hour normal?" and Her reply was "yes". If this wasn't a procedure that took days of preparation, I would have walked out. The staff are respectful and kind, however there is a serious issue with scheduling, patient load, and respecting the patients time. The facility is clean, and pleasing to look at. However the scheduling process needs a deep review and major overhaul. I will not be back due to the miss Management of patients and appointments. read more

Went to visit a friend in the hospital. I went to the bathroom when first arrived. They were disgusting! I tried another one and it was a little better but no paper towels. I went to the waiting area the trash cans were overflowing and the floors were filthy. I thought a place that takes cares of the sick should be clean. read more

My husband and I came for an appointment with the Maternal Fetal Medicine department . We didn't realize the hospital felt like a maze and was almost impossible to find out where to go for our appointment . Thankful for the few hospital staff that went out of their way to literally walk us all the way to where we needed to be . Main office staff were friendly and helpful . read more

Ayo, So let me tell y'all what y'all not gon' do--play me and my wife like we some side characters in our own kid's doctor visit. We took off work. Real jobs. Not imaginary PTO. We showed up together like responsible grown folks to support our son, who got referred to get checked out. Nothing major, but still--our child, our business. We walk in ready to be present, and boom--y'all hit us with a crusty little sign on the door talkin' 'bout "only one parent allowed." Excuse me? Since when? Ain't nobody said that when we booked the appointment. Ain't no paperwork. Ain't no email. Ain't no carrier pigeon. Just vibes and disrespect. Tried to talk to somebody in charge, but apparently office managers were in a meeting, probably discussing how to ruin more families' mornings. A dude called us later, and bless his heart, but the damage was done. Let's break this mess down: * Surprise Policy: Y'all really thought it was cute to spring that "one parent only" rule like it was a plot twist. This ain't Grey's Anatomy. Communicate. * Blue Collar Dad Disrespect: Another dad was there too, fresh off a job site, probably still smelling like hard work and sacrifice. Y'all told him to sit his dusty boots in the lobby like he was a stranger. Shame. * Attitude on 1000: The nurse who weighed our kid had her name tag flipped like she was in the witness protection program. She talked to us like we owed her child support. Loud, rude, and built like she been waiting all week to catch an attitude. * Facetime Foolery: Y'all let my wife FaceTime me during the exam like we were on an episode of "Parenting: Long Distance Edition." Then when it was time for the actual diagnosis, y'all took so long to come get me, Dr. Gilpin was out here asking, "Where the daddy at?" like I was lost in Target. * This Ain't New: My sister and her husband got the same treatment when their daughter was there. So clearly, y'all been on this nonsense for a minute. Let me say this loud for the folks in the back: WE SHOWED UP. We cared. We sacrificed. And y'all treated us like we were inconveniencing you by loving our child. Fix your dusty little policies. Teach your staff how to act like they got some home training. My mother is currently here after a very laborious surgery by Dr. Stewart. What an amazing doctor and the nurses are also wonderful. So far I am very pleased with the care they have given to my mom so far. All of the staff have been very compassionate and helpful and kind. The facility is quite clean also. read more

I had my #3 baby here went in for a VBAC and Diolated perfectly along even with the fetal montier holding us to the bed .Still Everything was going good even had a nurse that said she loved seeing vbacs she too wished to have 1 . About 5hrs into labor when My Doctor had came in he said he wouldnt be able to go forth with my vbac he wouldnt have a leg to stand due to a sad situation that occurred Another mother had lost her baby with underlying complications that were unknown . I was in a haze when the doc said this & i was rushed into OR with out any questions asked i was in OR from my comfy room with my husband with dim lighting to the Stainless steel solid white CLEAN ROOM with Bright Lights !! I tried to question further but was told THERES NO TIME NO TIME BOOM IM OUT WITH MEDS!!!!! . I also had real issues with the anesthesiologist she was a thin short red hair with an attitude she was coming in to give me my epidural when I was contracting and she said if I couldn't breath normal she was not going to give me my epidural there for it would not be dispensed to me .the same nurse was in the OR told the 2nd anesthesiologist in OR to give me 5cc of the meds that I was a previous iv user that it wouldn't faze me with 1 cc . I have never used any iv drugs myself and I was drugged here in OR. When I came out of OR I couldn't use my hands or arms to even pump my breast feed my baby or hold her!!!! My husband had to for me. Then my baby was rushed to NICU when she sneezed. The entire 1 month we were there was difficult and we faced so many hurtful Situations in the NICU like the Social Worker That jumped onto my husband for playing mello tunes for our newborn baby claiming it was causing our baby to over stimulate and she also told me that she was going to report me for having random people who came to visit our baby. The only ones to visit were immediate members in our family . After words I felt so upset as i started crying. The same Soc worker said i was being irratic in nature and I needed to control my emotions or I'd be ban from the NICU ! We really just felt like Nobody cared. The only support came from a top few awesome nurses that made our stay a bit easier and found us threw this hard hurdle! Nic U Nurse Ms.Greene This Nurse really loves her Profession and has a powerful personality that just allows a family to know that their baby does have some good Nurses in the mix Also A head Nurse that Had an older set of sons i believe 2 of her sons had autism and attened Lester EMS same as our Autistic son Let me tell you she was a real passionate Nurse that held on to the best of our hope. thanks to those few nurses In NICU of idk if we would trust any nurse or doctors again! However overall t Here I felt very IGNORED & played off during laboring my baby & after words trampled . My birthing plan NO one looked at for a 2nd glance after the OR . Never again here! read more

I wanted to commend the McLeod Regional Medical Center (MRMC) staff, and in particular the nurses and Dr. Prabal Guha in the cardiac care unit, for the exceptional care I received during a recent visit. My wife and I were traveling from Maryland, to visit our daughter in Columbia, SC when I had a wholly unexpected cardiac syncope, and passed out while driving on I-95 through Florence, SC. While my wife was able to take control of the car and get us safely off the expressway, we searched for nearby emergency center and were lucky to find MRMC. The emergency room quickly got us settled and under observation. After a couple more syncope episodes, I was recommended for a temporary pacemaker (it being the weekend) and Dr. Guha implanted a permanent pacemaker the following Monday. I met so many caring medical professionals during my stay. The nurses were all professional and caring. The hospitalist, Dr. Ilyas and Dr. Guha went above and beyond my expectations reaching out to my PCP and an cardiac electrophysiologist in Maryland where I live to pass along my medical information and ensure that I followed-up with medical specialists in Maryland. I was very impressed, not only with Dr. Guha's professionalism but the extra steps he took to make sure my follow-up was set-up before I left MRMC to drive back home. Everyone at MRMC raved about Dr. Guha and I can attest to their enthusiasm for him not only as a skilled cardiac surgeon but also as a truly caring person. MRMC should be proud of their staff and Dr. Guha. I was fortunate to have my health issue in Florence, SC and to have received care from MRMC. The residents of South Carolina should know they are in good hands at McLeod Regional Medical Center. read more

I would rate this hospital as a 0 I have never in my life dealt with such ignorance as I have here I'm surprised they know where they are at.Its hard getting in touch with a loved one they give you the run around and what's so bad none of them could tell me where the patient was located . It took from 7 this morning until after 2 to get the story straight . This is by far the worst hospital I have ever encountered I would not recommend this place to anyone. People talk about Carolina pines well I would rather have been there than here . They will not be direct with you can't keep u up to date . The phone just is not answered by anyone at Building 3, Urology Department. How is a patient supposed to inform the doctor about the treatment prescribed, especially when it's not working. read more

I was seen in the new ED last Friday and was treated promptly and with utmost care! I said I was having chest pains and they immediately took me in and started working on me. Everyone was very professional yet compassionate and I couldn't have had better care! I was admitted and spent 4 days with a very thorough cardio work up. I spent time on 3rd and 5th floor and everyone was awesome. The food could have been better but being 4th of July weekend probably explained food problem- shortage of cafeteria staff?! But felt like I had to remind them of procedures of cleaning her privates, applying cream to her bed sores, just simple nursing 101 things. The lack of empathy is sad. If I could give less than one star I would. This is the worst ER. If I ever am in there again it will be because I wasn't conscious or I was dead. Purely worried about $$ and statistics. Patient care is the least of the concerns. Now all of that is directed at the organization. This was a horrible stay. I was denied a bath for five days. The nurses handed me body pads. I was in the stroke unit wit a nurse name Ann,,,RUN! She has no bedside manner. Sucks her teeth every time you request something. She needs a new job in the kitchen. Only toe people could draw my blood without sticking me four times. I finally hav to to check myself out and go home. Ann brought my meds four hour late. Wouldn't help unplug me so I could go to the ladies room, where by the way I shared a toilet with a man that peed all over the place. They would only clean that one time a day so you end up stepping in it. It was absolutely horrible! read more

After having 2 horrible inpatient experiences with MUSC in Florence since 8/23/19 with my son; when my husband passed out and was seeing stars and his bp was so high we bypassed that nuthouse and went straight to Mcleod. We didn't sit in ER but maybe 5-10 minutes before going in back. Everyone was helpful, nice and respectful to us. Once moved from ER to overnight observation, we had nurses & techs in our room attending to not only my husband but also making sure I was ok too. We had 1 outstanding RN while there. Her name was Stephanie. (She was on 3rd floor of main tower and we were in room 338). She was soo good. She spoke loud enough my husband could hear her, she was always smiling and helpful and compassionate. She's the kind of person we all want as a nurse. Nothing gets 5 stars. Lol. There were a couple hiccups but NOTHING I'd even mention after the hell that is MUSC Florence. Like the room was super small and claustrophobic feeling but was WAY cleaner than CHS/MUSC Florence. If you need help with compassionate, understanding providers of care, Mcleod is the only choice in Florence. read more

I was a patient on the 11th floor for 5 days. I have never been disrespected as I was there! I was yelled at, had my face grabbed by a nurse & jerked around as she was yelling at me. Did not receive a bath, clean gown or have my bed changed while I was there. I had on TED Hose that weren't removed or checked for 5 days. I still have a scar on both legs where they were too tight. One Tech got the blanket my husband had been using, wrapped up in it & got on the couch he slept on. My debit card was taken & $200 put on it before it was blocked. This was a terrible experience & I pray me or my family NEVER have to go there! Complaints were made to Administration, but most were ignored! read more

Everyone that came in the door was courteous and kind, taking the time to talk and listen to my mom. I can not say enough for the nurse, Deborah and the tech, Holly that cared for us. I have never had a good experience at McLeod Hospital but they just get worse and worse. Monday night I go to the ER , had fallen already several weeks prior and had a fractured ankle. My primary Dr had also notified me that I was severely dehydrated and needed some fluids. When asked why I was there I told them that I had been dizzy upon standing and had fallen again, had diarrhea for the last 3 weeks and was dehydrated. After of course laying there forever they come in to take me to have a cat scan when I asked why the girl (who bty was the only nice person there) said she was just the transporter well that's one test I'm not paying for. Then the guy came in to xray my foot and back, I told him where he took the exray of my back was too low down, again those are the orders.When finally a nurse popped her head in between shower curtains I asked if there was a pillow or something I could prop my foot on the broken one which by this time they told me wasn't broken, sure my Dr at McLeod orthopedics will be glad to know he read my exray wrong waited for a pillow or anything by this time I had to go to the bathroom looked around didn't see a buzzer or anything so really having to go I started unplugging stuff so I could get up, I guess an alarm sounded and the nurse came and asjed what I was doing told her and she literally threw the call button that was hanging on the wall behind me in my bed and said use this, well not to bore you with each detail I came away from the ER that as far as I am concerned deprived me of water, something to elevate my foot (I wasn't asking for pain meds) just a pillow or towel something even an icebag would have been nice, an ankle that wasn't broken and a uniary track infection maybe they cause diarrhea, a prescription for an antibiotic (take 1 a day for 5 days) now I'm not a Dr but been on a lot of antibiotics and never one that consisted of 5 pills,oh did I mention the person next to me who was running a fever and in pain had a urinary tract infection also and was getting an antibiotic through his IV, hmmm. Well just another wasted trip to our neighborly ER and why do I continue to return? INSURANCE of course. read more

I have had two experiences here within a week. Both were horrible. Just reminds me why we go out of town for our usual hospital needs. First my husband needed his heart shocked. They told us to be there at 7:00 am. Needless to say, we were still waiting at 4:00 pm and still not done. This procedure literally took 5 minutes. Shameful. Then I needed to go to the radiation oncologist. I was seen pretty promptly and the staff were great. RO not so great. I had a lot of questions because this is my life. He actually raised his voice so loud I was wondering if the nurse would come in. Horrible bedside manner. I will be going elsewhere for all my treatment from here on out and I suggest if at all possible you do the same. read more
