Fantastic drop in for a quick bite and it feels like your nearby corner pub. Feels like a home away from home and a place where friends gather. Very happy with the food.

This is our neighborhood mcmennamins so we go here often. It's smaller but so cute and the staff is always so kind! Sitting outside when weather permits is my go to. We often go here for brews with friends too. I also suggest the hummus board, it never disappoints!

Have always had good experiences at this location. Friendly service and great food, what more do you need? Their burgers and tots always deliver, and they have a stellar Reuben as well.

This is one of my favorite Mcmenamins, and not just because they have African peanut soup. This is one of the few Mcmenamins that have a pizza and chicken strips on the kid's menu. My son loved playing shuffleboard. Highly recommend

When your server tells you that the special of the day is African peanut soup, you don't hesitate to give it a try. What are African peanuts, and how do they end up in a soup at a pub in Oregon? I'm not really sure, but I'm forever glad I tried it. Our experience was great-from the friendly service to the unique flavors. We might not have been the traditional pub patrons, as we didn't order beers on tap (or beer at all), but we enjoyed our lunch. The soup that I mentioned is a bit spicy, but not so much that the average person can't power through it. (I'm a bit on the wimpy side, so anything spicy usually makes my eyes water. I handled this like a champ.) The tots were also delish. I've noticed tots on lots of menus around Oregon. Maybe that's a thing? I like it. The ambiance of the restaurant is very unusual-and it works. The artwork on the ceiling, mixed with the hanging plants all around give this place a special character that you won't find in any old chain restaurant.

I keep coming back to the restaurant because of this blacksmith steak sandwich. It's the best sandwich I've ever had and am going to be very sad when it goes! I had the best waiter and they were very attentive. They had the cutest ice cream cone tattoo too. I hope they bring this sandwich back sooner rather than later! Also, they have sweet potato fries! Which is my favvvvv.

Easy convenient parking in a mall. They are known for beer and mixed drinks. Food was ok. Sweet potato fries were greasy. Our server was great. We were passport holders so we got our stamps and a free meal due to filling up the appropriate page. Pretty quiet place with not a lot of people when we went.

There's also a large patio. This is a welcome and safe space. [Drinks] Right up front, I'm going to tell you I'm a lightweight. I'm allergic to alcohol, so I don't drink often. Here's one of the things I love about The 649. They have a fantastic selection of mocktails that are created with the same creativity, flair, and intention as a "leaded" cocktail. I appreciate that I get to participate and not be stuck with a lemonade, zero alcohol beer, or wine. So, HUZZAH for creating an inviting space for a non-drinker! There *are* times when I'm willing to risk the lobster-bod, itchiness, and stuffy nose and there are plenty of cocktails from which to choose! [Food] There's a nice selection of sharable plates and mains. I've personally tried the flatbread pizza, Bavarian pretzel, Cubano, and Brisket Press, all of which were delish. [Service] The service has always been fabulous. The staff are welcoming, friendly, and helpful. [Activities] There are a few TVs around the bar with sports. It was a great place to catch some of the World Cup games. Additionally, there are several games that you can borrow and play, which is a lot of fun. Parking hasn't been super problematic yet, but based on one of the other reviewers (Ron R - loved your formatting too, so I borrowed it until we get rich text formatting or emojis!) I was super excited to visit this one a few years later, and sure enough the beer selection was still amazing, and though it did cost more than last time, the food pricing was still pretty good. Unfortunately where it feel short was the food execution. The food took about 45 minutes to come out, and some of the items came a bit staggered. The corn dog spent too much time in the fryer and came out pretty crisp, not the shade you want to see your corndog. The Super smashburger we ordered didn't actually have smashburger patties, just regular, and then the Mcloyal that was ordered did have smashburger patties. So it wasn't a case of these don't seem like smashburgers, since we were able to compare the two. It was a Thursday night of a holiday weekend and it was pretty crowded, so the kitchen fell behind, not sure if it's always like that here. It's still a cool spot, they've got plenty of seating inside and out, all sorts of beers, and a full bar with a good cocktail menu. They're also kid and animal friendly, at least earlier in day/evening.
