Went to the other Loyal Legion location a few years back and absolutely loved it! I was raving about it for weeks after my trip because of the beer selection and smashburger quality and price. I was super excited to visit this one a few years later, and sure enough the beer selection was still amazing, and though it did cost more than last time, the food pricing was still pretty good. Unfortunately where it feel short was the food execution. The food took about 45 minutes to come out, and some of the items came a bit staggered. The corn dog spent too much time in the fryer and came out pretty crisp, not the shade you want to see your corndog. The Super smashburger we ordered didn't actually have smashburger patties, just regular, and then the Mcloyal that was ordered did have smashburger patties. So it wasn't a case of these don't seem like smashburgers, since we were able to compare the two. It was a Thursday night of a holiday weekend and it was pretty crowded, so the kitchen fell behind, not sure if it's always like that here. It's still a cool spot, they've got plenty of seating inside and out, all sorts of beers, and a full bar with a good cocktail menu. I had a hard time navigating the menu--too much bar type food for my tastes, but others in my party enjoyed their food. The cauliflower was just okay, but the pineapple dipping sauce was delicious. Great spot for Beaverton locals. I am obsessed with the reuse of this heritage building as a bar. It's open, cavernous, and has tons of natural light streaming through the arched windows even on a cloudy day. The massive open bar in the center of the space is perfect for everyone ordering drinks or lounging at the counter. There is a good outdoor patio for folks to use if needed, but the inside space is good enough for any weather, too. Our table however was very sticky and was likely not cleaned off, so that was slightly a bummer. Tables apparently have service normally, but, we were not hosted there so we ordered at the counter. The staff lets you sample beers prior to ordering, which I highly recommend, given how many incredible options there are. I went with a sour, but, was bummed to learn there was only enough for half of a pint. After ordering, they gave me the drink for free, which was very generous! Thanks! We ordered a few rounds of french fries, which came in quite small bowls for a pub. Each dipping sauce was $1 as well, which was strange because there was so much leftover due to the small amount of fries per order. The restrooms are clean, and there is ample parking and close access to transit, so anyone can enjoy time here. read more

Parking is hard to find especially after work hours. Inside this beer bar ~ cozy two tops or larger booths for four. Not an interesting vibe despite above average furniture. Expansive outdoor seating. Hard to find clean tables inside or outside. So many taps. Great selection. Decent special brews. Service ~ downright entitled. It is not logical to self seat, then have to come up to the counter, talk over shoulders sitting at the bar and bring your own drinks back. The apathetic attitude should not be in this industry. TLDR; bar experience, great. Would give 4 or 5 stars, but food left a lot to be desired. It was just ok. Food took a long time to get out, and there was a mixup between grain mustard vs on greens. The bartender who took the order from my wife was a bit argumentative about what was said... we later found out from another bartender that they were understaffed in the kitchen that day and we did have a large party... but the spot was otherwise empty for the most part. Important to note the second bar tender was kind enough to comp the sausage that had a mix up. Good selection of liquor. Will probably be back and hope for a better experience. The main issue with anything in this area is finding parking, especially on a weekend. The interior is gorgeous and I really love the U-shaped bar in the center. The stools are too high for the height of the bar, so your legs don't really fit under the lip, and you have to hunch forward for your elbows to reach the bar. It doesn't take much to convince me to come to a place that has a good old fashioned and my hubby knows how to play with that weakness .He frequents this place and so while we were in the area, he recommended we come in for a drink . We were seated immediately, as the place was not too full on a weekday night . Love the high ceilings and the spacious vibe that this place has. The booths provide privacy as well as comfortable seating . In addition there is also bar seating. As highly recommended by the hubby I got myself an Old Fashioned and thoroughly enjoyed it .. so much so that I got another one right after it . The alcohol list is impressive and I can see why my hubby likes coming here . We also got the Hummus plate and The double smash burger. The burger was ah-mazing ! Everything from the bun to the patty was utter perfection. There isn't much in terms of service interaction on your seat because you order at the bar and get your drinks yourself but they do get the food out for you . Ordered the fried cauliflower, corn dog (which they said is made with house made batter), and my friend had a sausage in a bun with what looked like onions and some other toppings. We asked the waitress if it's supposed to be so dark and hard and she said well they have to make sure the sausage is cooked. fair enough but maybe switch out that item in that case. The fried cauliflower bites were soggy too. Food came pretty quick though after ordering. And agree with others, parking rough but that's the location for you. I won't give it 1 star because the cocktails are usually really good. I've been here 3 different times now. I'm giving it only 2 stars because of the service of the bartender staff. Every single time I've come here, the bartenders do something bizarre or just rude to either me or my other guests. FIRST VISIT: bartender refused to serve me because I only had my California driver's license that was hole punched while I awaited for my new Oregon license in the mail. Had to walk all the way home and back to also find the dmv paper cutout license. Keep in mind my license from CA wasn't expired, I just got an OR license from moving here. Second visit: took my mom. Bartender refused to make her a raspberry lemon drop when there was literally raspberry liquor right behind her. Another bartender however ended up making it. Third visit: this trip was my most annoyed. There was a massive line to order drinks. I ordered two margaritas. He refused to serve me 2 drinks. Said it's too much for one person. So I said "ok then make me a double". Suddenly, that was ok! At the end of the night I went to order another double margarita from another bartender and she said "I'll make you a single because you've had too many already"...it was honestly kind of shocking. I wasn't drunk. I am a 30 year old dude, I wasn't very drunk, I wasn't stumbling, I wasn't slurring my words, my friends were also kind of dumbfounded they wouldn't make me a double. They made their drinks just fine. Literally none of us were in any way drunk at that point. Loyal legion has utterly bizarre rules and treat their guests like high school children. I've been here 3 times, so I've given it a shot because it's close to my place and the drinks taste good, but I'm not coming back after I'm treated like a child repeatedly by the bar staff. Stop infantilizing your guests. It's so strange that it's not just one bartender who treat people like this, it's the entire staff. I have never in my life heard of a bar not serving one guest two cocktails at 9pm. You think I'm gonna walk over and hand it to a minor or something? Get a grip loyal legion staff. I almost didn't come here because they only had three stars. But I decided to try it anyway because of a recommendation from a friend. And I'm sure glad I did! I think this place definitely deserves more than three stars! (It was still plenty crowded). (And is proof that some three star places are hidden gems). The atmosphere is definitely more cozy than I expected. They have a huge bar with plenty of seating and gigantic TV screens full of sports. And they also have plenty of huge booths with plenty of space for all your homies. So it's a bit of a mix of a sports bar and a great place to hang out with friends. And the TV screens do not dominate the place. You can get away from them and concentrate on your time with friends if that's what you want. And, contrary to much that I have read, the service was quick and friendly. Just order at the bar. I had the Mcloyal burger. It was absolutely scrumptious, decadent, and sinfully delicious in all the ways that are most pleasing to the primitive brain. Surprisingly good! Dare I say, Anthony Bourdain would have approved! They have a huge tap list, including plenty of brews for us dark beer fans. I enjoyed the Ancestry Irish Red on Nitro (anything on Nitro!) And they have a rich cocktail menu, with a special section of many spins on the Old Fashioned. So my first visit here was a delightful surprise and far exceeded my expectations. This place is great for drinks! We have ate here and when we do we prefer to do it with a group of 3 or more. The hanging plants and dim lighting in the night is my favorite. Every day of the week they have a shot of the week and it's high quality for a discounted price, fun! Outside seating has heaters which is nice when it's full inside. They do well with having some solid food options, and they don't skimp on the drinks. I came here for a Christmas celebration with coworkers, and we were seated off in the right hand room. This gave us some privacy while maintaining the overall atmosphere. Much could be said about the drink options (which are many) but the winner that I tried that night is The Emperor. The amount of salad I am not complaining about, but the fact that it is extremely difficult to disperse/toss the dressing and toppings they put directly on top. Would prefer they either pre-toss it or serve it in a bigger bowl so it is possible to do on my own without making a huge mess. I ordered two separate 8oz pours from the bar, each from different bar tenders at the time, and the actual amount in each applicable 8oz pour glass was wildly different. First Flight was more my speed, herbal and light, but again I'd rather have a Negroni, Mezcal Old Fashioned or a good old G&T. We scored a table when we got in, but it was impossible to talk to each other without speaking LOUDLY so when a couple of stools opened at the bar I snagged them. Now I have to say I was laughing out loud reading the review of the "ass-ault" on the bum of a patron in the last month who said the bar stools were horrible. I personally don't have too many issues with seating. They were fine for me, my husband, who is a bigger guy, didn't find them super uncomfortable but also not super comfy either. For an "average" weight/height person I think they're totally fine. Anywho. Jamilia took over our orders when we got to the bar and I wanted a Mezcal old fashioned. I showed her the ingredients for one I'd had at a bar in Portland, and she said she didn't have all the ingredients but she felt she could do me a good cocktail. And she did!! It was delicious! Flavorful and strong but not straight alcohol flavor that didn't have any body to it. She made sure she made me a great cocktail. When I come back I'll definitely be looking for her and trying out another drink she makes. I like the atmosphere, though it's much louder than a typical bar I would visit. And if you're already seated and crave some water, guess what, they'll point you to where you can get it yourself. Want to re-order - you know give them more $ - then get your ass up and go stand in line at the bar again. All this isn't necessarily terrible, but there's that 20% tip expectation for what exactly? Their cocktail menu is kickass, the Unicorn Stuff was delicious. And my two friends enjoyed their beers. Food wise, all three of us were underwhelmed, but not disappointed.
