After having lived here for a long while I've seen and worked for Porters, the store that closed…read more((owned and operated by the same people). The new store is a nice upgrade, the prices are higher but looking at the travel to bring Alpine what it needs and the cost of shipping etc... I understand the higher price. This store is a good place to shop if you're in need, if you don't like what's offered then there are other options Dollar Store, Blue Water, and you can even have things shipped! The managers and staff are helpful and kind, personally I am happy with Our Porters, and living in a small town it's a puzzle piece that helps me get by and get the items that I want and need.

Popped in as we were out exploring and looking for a bite to eat…read more This spot is more than just a place to grab a sandwich but it's also a small grocery store that you can grab everything from a can of soup to a cold beer. The staff were very welcoming, greeting us as we came in. When deciding on a sandwich, you get to pick the bread, the meat, the veggies and the condiments so literally no two sandwiches could be alike. The sandwich also came with a side (we opted for the coleslaw and the fruit) and by far, it was a good little bite that held us over as we continued to explore the area. They have seating inside as well as outside and it's worth the stop and taking a peek inside.

no prepared foods, deli closed prior to my 8:30 arrival, pre made sandwiches looked disgusting and…read morewhen i checked the sell by date to see how long past it was, i was surprised to see 5/20 (my visit was 5/11). regardless of the date the meat looked so bad it was unidentifiable. not being dramatic, it really did look awful.and i would never purchase a sandwich that was a day old, never mind sitting in the case for who knows how long. the veggies and fruits looked old and picked over. selection of everything extremely limited. what fort stockton has taught me this trip, is to stay in van horn next time. not that van horn is some sort of west texas oasis, but fort stockton has disappointed me at every turn
