Popped in as we were out exploring and looking for a bite to eat. This spot is more than just a place to grab a sandwich but it's also a small grocery store that you can grab everything from a can of soup to a cold beer. The staff were very welcoming, greeting us as we came in. When deciding on a sandwich, you get to pick the bread, the meat, the veggies and the condiments so literally no two sandwiches could be alike. The sandwich also came with a side (we opted for the coleslaw and the fruit) and by far, it was a good little bite that held us over as we continued to explore the area. They have seating inside as well as outside and it's worth the stop and taking a peek inside. read more

Quality food made from scratch as well as a nice selection of prepackaged groceries, drinks and market items priced reasonably. The people that work here know their products and are friendly yet professional. Their pies, biscuits, and cinnamon rolls are all insanely delicious and make me want to try their other baked goods but there is only so much you can eat! I'm seriously contemplating purchasing a cooler to stock up with their items before we leave. This s a small convenience store with a few tables inside and out, and a surprisingly good sandwich menu. Two elderly people might make a meal of a single one of their sandwiches. Super cute place! It's a deli and mini grocery store. We ordered two veggie sandwiches - there is no preset veggie sandwich, you build the sandwich yourself based on their toppings. I usually like having a pre-designed option, but we opted a veggie with provolone cheese, cucumber, avocado, spinach and tomato sandwich. It was fresh and delicious. We also ordered some cheese pimento to-go for late-night eats and picked up some beer to pair with our pimento! It was a great decision. The only weird part was that everyone sitting down turned and stared at us when we walked in. I imagine a lot of tourists stop by here, and maybe they enjoy the people watching, but it did feel a little awkward. read more

I stopped in to grab something for breakfast and lunch before heading out to hike in Davis Mountain State Park. Immediately on entering, I was greeted by a friendly, helpful employee that showed me what options they had. I grabbed a bacon, egg, and cheese biscuit breakfast sandwich from their hot area. Of note, they also had kolaches, breakfast tacos, and cinnamon rolls. The breakfast sandwich was alright - it was a little dry and could use a sauce of sorts on it. Then, I ordered a sandwich, which was made to order. I appreciated how many topping options they had, which ultimately resulted in a very filling sandwich. For my side, I got a cup of fruit. I liked that it wasn't a melon based fruit cup! Rather, it had grapes, pineapple, and kiwi. Yum! I also got an Honest Tea from their refrigerator. They had tons of great options other than soda/energy drinks. This store also had a lot of great looking pantry items (some local) as well as fresh produce if you're staying in Fort Davis for a longer period of time or need to restock during an RV trip. They definitely offer much more than a typical gas station store, which is often your only option on a road trip. The final thing I noted was that everyone else visiting the store all seemed to know each other. It was a really nice experience people watching while I waited for my sandwich - it's nice to see a small town like Fort Davis with a thriving, close-knit community! read more

Still good after all these years ! Get there before 9 or they may have sold all the breakfast tacos. The cookies are still made fresh on site by Tamara and my wife is addicted. They are good. This year around Thanksgiving Tamara had pies tho we haven't tried them, I have no doubt they were delicious. Of interest to me...not working, but the deli case is a wooden Frigidaire case from the past and that makes sense as they tell me this place was opened in the 1930s....They hav deli meats and cheeses, wines and some fresh veggies plus a lot of things you'd neve expect. Small grocery with a deli department located in downtown Fort Davis. The family and I dropped by for a light lunch and to pick up food for dinner. We ordered bologna, turkey, and pastrami sandwiches for $7.99 each. A side came with each order. We went with potato salad and coleslaw. We also brought a container of fresh made chicken salad and bread for our dinner. Everything were seasoned great and tasted delicious. Prices were inexpensive, we were expected to pay more for. Service was very helpful and extremely friendly. However, only four stars because none of the employees were masked. Also no barriers at the order and check out counters. read more

This place made all the difference on my "glamping" trip to Davis Mountain state park. Fresh, locally-roasted coffee, friendly faces, breakfast tacos, basic staples, and a deli with made to order sandwiches that were in a word, divine. One of the cool dudes that works there gave us samples of the zesty Nitro cold brew, as we chatted about off-road vehicles. I came here every day that I was in the area, which was easy because the state park is literally like six minutes from town, and every day we picnicked like kings. On our last day in Fort Davis, we came here to stock up the cooler, and grab some coffee and sandwiches, which we then packed up for a short road trip to the Marfa Mystery Lights viewing area for a picnic. 5/5 stars. read more

Stone Village Market has a great deli counter. We stopped in to this little market after going for a swim at Balmorhea State Park (and before going for a hike in the Davis Mountains State Park). We dropped in, ordered a sandwich, grabbed a couple of sides (bags of chips) and some cold drinks and enjoyed our lunches outside at one of the tables on the porch. You pick your bread from a display of store bought loaves, choose your meat and cheese, and then decide if you want things like pickles, olives, avocados, lettuce, tomato OR double meat and double cheese. We wish we would've found this place day one during our stay in Alpine and Marfa. They have a little bit of everything you could want from a great selection of wines to a great selection of cheeses to all kinds of whole foods type items that aren't common in this area. Buy a couple of the small Copa wines, grab a block of cheese, and head up to the picnic area near the observatory for beautiful views and a nice little roadside picnic.
