There is a free parking lot adjacent to the park, but it can fill up quickly, especially on weekends and holidays. If the lot is full, there is additional street parking available nearby. The park is open year-round, but the best times to visit are during the spring, summer, and fall when the weather is mild, and the lake is at its most beautiful.

It was very clean, there is restrooms available (yes there was a line) and plenty of parking, although you may need to wait for a spot. It is a cool park to check out, I've seen pictures of people kayaking, however there are signs that say to stay on the path and not cross over the railing. A nice picnic place perhaps or family photos with the bear. The boulders in the area/park make it a cool photographic area.

Some picnic tables, a community fire ring, and some barbecues are provided for use. I wouldn't rely on the restrooms. Also, be prepared as there's no potable water on-site. There is a small parking lot that fits about 15 small vehicles. Parked vehicles must display a valid recreation pass. You can purchase a pass from the Mountaintop Ranger District & Discovery Center along with other vendors (see the USDA Forest Service website for a map of vendors located under the "Passes and Permits" tab).

Whether you stroll this path or ride it, you will witness nature at its pinnacle. From the gorgeous lake, towering pines, colorful wildflowers and snowcapped mountains, the Good Lord did not skimp when it comes to eye candy. Just this morning I caught a glimpse of three coyotes frolicking in the lake. I saw ducks, rabbits, chipmunks, squirrels, and a variety of birds all enjoying the beautiful lake they call home. These peaceful surroundings beckon me every time I visit Big Bear. Be sure to visit this glorious path!

We booked a tour on the Big Bear Cruzer and would highly recommend it!…read more After booking with two other tour companies in town and having both cancel 30 minutes beforehand because they didn't meet their minimum capacity, we landed here by happenstance -- and honestly, I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. Captain Paul was absolutely the best! He shared so much history about Big Bear and the lake, and he was incredibly personable and kind. You can tell that he loves his work. He will also give you amazing recommendations on things to do, where to eat, etc. The boat is a pontoon that seats about 20-30 people, and they don't have a minimum, so you don't have to worry about your tour being canceled last minute. They even had blankets available when the wind picked up and it got a little chilly. Take this tour -- you won't regret it!
