Great Staff, but Disappointing "Preferred" Pontoon Rental The staff at Big Bear Marina was great. Everyone was very friendly, patient, and took the time to explain everything before we headed out. No complaints at all about the service. Where I was disappointed was the pontoon itself. I paid extra for the "Large Preferred Pontoon w/ Bluetooth Radio," so I expected the boat to be a step above the standard rentals. When we got on board, I was surprised by how worn and dated it was. One section of the upholstery had a large rip, probably 18 inches long, and the rest of the seating showed quite a bit of wear. It also had basic vinyl flooring rather than something like SeaDek. The Bluetooth appeared to simply be an adapter that had been added to the existing stereo. For something being marketed and priced as a "Preferred" pontoon, I expected a noticeably nicer and better-maintained boat. The price was also fairly high -- four hours here cost about what we've paid for eight hours at the river for a much newer and nicer tri-toon. We still enjoyed our time on the lake, and again, the staff was excellent. I just think that at this price point, especially when paying extra for the Preferred option, the condition of the rental fleet should be better. read more

On August 26, 2026, my husband and I were out fishing on Big Bear Lake. We saw The Big Bear Cruzer coming the opposite direction. The "captain" of this tour boat kept inching closer and closer to our boat. My husband kept having to move closer to the shore. The tour boat then made a sharp turn and came at us crossing right across our bow, almost hitting us. My husband yelled at him, and he said we were pointed right at him, but it was he who kept coming toward us. My husband did call him a derogatory name, which he returned at my husband in front of his passengers. There was no reason for this person to put these passengers and my husband and me in a dangerous position. If he tries it again, we will be sure to video him. read more

We booked a tour on the Big Bear Cruzer and would highly recommend it! After booking with two other tour companies in town and having both cancel 30 minutes beforehand because they didn't meet their minimum capacity, we landed here by happenstance -- and honestly, I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. Captain Paul was absolutely the best! He shared so much history about Big Bear and the lake, and he was incredibly personable and kind. You can tell that he loves his work. He will also give you amazing recommendations on things to do, where to eat, etc. The boat is a pontoon that seats about 20-30 people, and they don't have a minimum, so you don't have to worry about your tour being canceled last minute. They even had blankets available when the wind picked up and it got a little chilly. Take this tour -- you won't regret it! read more

We rented for 4 hours, we were able to extend for another 4 hours and had a great time. The staff was very friendly and helpful checking in and then extending. My only complaint is the boat was extremely hard to steer left. We brought this up and they didn't have any good response. We rented the preferred Pontoon small boat, and it was not what I would consider preferred. We chose Big Bear over the others in the area knowing it was more expensive... and expected a preferred to be a little nicer. I would have liked to have them offer to do something regarding the issue, which made it difficult for anyone else in my family to captain, but they did not. It will not prevent us from renting here again. But I will be specific to check before for this concern. read more

Amazing boat tour here!! We come annually to do the boat tour & it's amazing every time. I booked online in advance a day before & I was able to book for 5 people. It is a group tour I think about 30 people max. $22 for adults and $20 for seniors. Anyone under 13 yo needs to put a life jacket on, which they provide. Great quality staff as they just let us through with waivers done online beforehand for everyone in the group. Make sure you go before departure time to get the best seats in the boat! The front seats get splashed hard so if you wanna be in the splash zone then make sure u secure a seat in the front :) Captain Paul was our guy the last two times we were there & he is simply the best. Lots of knowledge and history explained with so much enthusiasm and passion for big bear. He used to be staff at the pirate ship apparently, super cool. I highly recommend the boat tour here, & they also have private smaller boats for rental, but those go for $180 an hour for a group of 8. Absolutely love big bear marina and we will be back next year :) read more

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! My family spent the weekend in Big Bear and we wanted to be on the water. We rented a Lux Medium pontoon for 2 hrs and a couple of jet skis for an hour. We had a blast!! Fairly expensive but worth every penny. Kids both had a great time touring the lake and seeing the dam from the water. We saw lots of birds and more than a few fish as well. Once we turned in the pontoon it was time for speed. Lake speed limit 35mph which was fast enough. I've gone much faster on larger lakes but for the size, 35 is sufficient to have a great time. The marina staff was great. From the office staff to the dock manager, everyone was helpful, progressional, and fun. They clearly enjoyed being on the water even though they were working. Had never been to big bear before naturally thought it'd be nice to rent a boat to be on the water. Big bear marina was very friendly and helpfully when I inquired about renting a boat for me and my family. After doing some research we decided it'd be a better value to do the big bear lake tour. We had done the waivers online which made check in with Tracey super easy! Our tour was captain Paul which was very informative about big bears rich history. We had our 10 month old baby on the tour which he advised us we'd be getting wet in the front of the boat, we decided to take our changes and stay in front he then offered us some blankets to help keep us and our baby dry and warm which definitely came in handy!
