Had never been to big bear before naturally thought it'd be nice to rent a boat to be on the water. Big bear marina was very friendly and helpfully when I inquired about renting a boat for me and my family. After doing some research we decided it'd be a better value to do the big bear lake tour. We had done the waivers online which made check in with Tracey super easy! Our tour was captain Paul which was very informative about big bears rich history. We had our 10 month old baby on the tour which he advised us we'd be getting wet in the front of the boat, we decided to take our changes and stay in front he then offered us some blankets to help keep us and our baby dry and warm which definitely came in handy! If you've never had a big bear lake tour I definitely recommend taking one at big bear Marina definitely learned a lot about big bears history! read more

We rented for 4 hours, we were able to extend for another 4 hours and had a great time. The staff was very friendly and helpful checking in and then extending. My only complaint is the boat was extremely hard to steer left. We brought this up and they didn't have any good response. We rented the preferred Pontoon small boat, and it was not what I would consider preferred. We chose Big Bear over the others in the area knowing it was more expensive... and expected a preferred to be a little nicer. I would have liked to have them offer to do something regarding the issue, which made it difficult for anyone else in my family to captain, but they did not. It will not prevent us from renting here again. But I will be specific to check before for this concern. read more

My family and I took a marina tour with Paul. We had a wonderful time. Paul was very informative, fun, knowledgeable and friendly. We learned a lot about Big Bear on the tour and took away some fun facts. In addition to this, the views were gorgeous and we enjoyed visiting many of the bays that are in lake Big Bear. We booked a tour on the Big Bear Cruzer and would highly recommend it! After booking with two other tour companies in town and having both cancel 30 minutes beforehand because they didn't meet their minimum capacity, we landed here by happenstance -- and honestly, I couldn't be happier with how it turned out. Captain Paul was absolutely the best! He shared so much history about Big Bear and the lake, and he was incredibly personable and kind. You can tell that he loves his work. He will also give you amazing recommendations on things to do, where to eat, etc. The boat is a pontoon that seats about 20-30 people, and they don't have a minimum, so you don't have to worry about your tour being canceled last minute. They even had blankets available when the wind picked up and it got a little chilly. Take this tour -- you won't regret it! read more

Well, we're local so we would be repeat customers. Within 5 minutes of walking into dock and seconds sitting down on the dock I had a leg filled with 17 SPLINTERS!! Wear closed toe shoes and don't sit or let your children sit down!! Almost had my 4&2 yr old sitting next to me. We would have been in the emergency room for sure! Long, deep and painful splinters that they know happens, as the instructor even told me about other guests as I showed him my leg and was clearly in agonizing pain. Spent rental trying to not ruin families experience but seriously they know it's bad and do nothing. They should have a sign so big before you enter sock so there is no mistaking the dangers!! I feel like they didn't care. 11days later still digging into skin to get splinters out. Our boat also had a razor sharp piece of metal by steering wheel they warned us about. If you know you have a glaring danger fit it so your customers feel valued. We had two toddlers. read more

Amazing boat tour here!! We come annually to do the boat tour & it's amazing every time. I booked online in advance a day before & I was able to book for 5 people. It is a group tour I think about 30 people max. $22 for adults and $20 for seniors. Anyone under 13 yo needs to put a life jacket on, which they provide. Great quality staff as they just let us through with waivers done online beforehand for everyone in the group. Make sure you go before departure time to get the best seats in the boat! The front seats get splashed hard so if you wanna be in the splash zone then make sure u secure a seat in the front :) Captain Paul was our guy the last two times we were there & he is simply the best. Lots of knowledge and history explained with so much enthusiasm and passion for big bear. He used to be staff at the pirate ship apparently, super cool. I highly recommend the boat tour here, & they also have private smaller boats for rental, but those go for $180 an hour for a group of 8. HIGHLY RECOMMEND! My family spent the weekend in Big Bear and we wanted to be on the water. We rented a Lux Medium pontoon for 2 hrs and a couple of jet skis for an hour. We had a blast!! Fairly expensive but worth every penny. Kids both had a great time touring the lake and seeing the dam from the water. We saw lots of birds and more than a few fish as well. Once we turned in the pontoon it was time for speed. Lake speed limit 35mph which was fast enough. I've gone much faster on larger lakes but for the size, 35 is sufficient to have a great time. The marina staff was great. From the office staff to the dock manager, everyone was helpful, progressional, and fun. They clearly enjoyed being on the water even though they were working.
