Great crew working there, great boats, great memories, easy to book and get going, great all around value.

Our go to spot to get a kayak or pontoon boat out for a cruise around the lake - always very simple to rent and get everything situated - boats are easy to use and some have some nice sound systems with Bluetooth for the vibes. Good value especially weekdays and multiple hours. Boats are decent shape - not fancy or brand new but good! Check them out and enjoy some on the lake time.

Amazing boat tour here!! We come annually to do the boat tour & it's amazing every time. I booked online in advance a day before & I was able to book for 5 people. It is a group tour I think about 30 people max. $22 for adults and $20 for seniors. Anyone under 13 yo needs to put a life jacket on, which they provide. Great quality staff as they just let us through with waivers done online beforehand for everyone in the group. Make sure you go before departure time to get the best seats in the boat! The front seats get splashed hard so if you wanna be in the splash zone then make sure u secure a seat in the front :) Captain Paul was our guy the last two times we were there & he is simply the best. Lots of knowledge and history explained with so much enthusiasm and passion for big bear. He used to be staff at the pirate ship apparently, super cool. I highly recommend the boat tour here, & they also have private smaller boats for rental, but those go for $180 an hour for a group of 8. Absolutely love big bear marina and we will be back next year :)

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! My family spent the weekend in Big Bear and we wanted to be on the water. We rented a Lux Medium pontoon for 2 hrs and a couple of jet skis for an hour. We had a blast!! Fairly expensive but worth every penny. Kids both had a great time touring the lake and seeing the dam from the water. We saw lots of birds and more than a few fish as well. Once we turned in the pontoon it was time for speed. Lake speed limit 35mph which was fast enough. I've gone much faster on larger lakes but for the size, 35 is sufficient to have a great time. The marina staff was great. From the office staff to the dock manager, everyone was helpful, progressional, and fun. They clearly enjoyed being on the water even though they were working. It was a great day!

My husband and I spent a few nights up in Big Bear with our dog in August. As I typically go to Big Bear to ski, I wasn't sure all what there was to do in the summer. Since we knew about the lake, we decided to take our dog on her first boat ride. We chose Big Bear Marina because we know they were dog friendly. We chose a pontoon boat, as it seemed like something nice and stable for our dog. Anyway, when we arrived, the wait was minimal. It was on a Thursday, so there was no crowd. They did give us a long waiver and agreement that we both reviewed. We were offered a newer more expensive boat, or the standard. We chose the standard, as the only real upgrade was a speaker, but we already had brought our own. We then paid for the boat and they sent us out to the dock. We then were given a brief lesson from a staff member, as neither of us had ever driven a pontoon boat. The lesson was quick, as there was nothing to driving the boat. We then were off for a relaxing drive around the various coves of the lake. They gave us a map that showed us the names of the various areas. For the most part, we had a calm day and just relaxed, enjoyed a picnic lunch and some music. Two hours was the perfect amount of time to explore leisurely. Our dog enjoyed her first boat ride and sniffing the lake breezes. Brining the boat back and docking was just as easy as our departure. We had no troubles at all with the boat.

My family of four visited Big Bear over Labor Day weekend, and we really wanted to get out on the lake. We considered renting a boat, but with the lake likely to be super crowded and me not being a very experienced captain, we decided a 90-minute scenic cruise would be the perfect way to scratch our itch to be on the water. It absolutely was! Captain Paul was an outstanding guide. Before we even left the dock, it was a masterclass in networking. He found something relatable to talk about with everyone on the boat, from fellow Orange County residents to someone who went to the same high school as a person he knew in Long Beach. He even greeted some Chinese visitors in their language, mentioning a trip he'd taken to China a few years ago. Once we were on the water, he was a wealth of knowledge. He shared the history of how the valley was created, notable Native American history, stories from the Prohibition era, and fun facts about notable residents. The entire tour was both informative and entertaining. Another great perk is that you can bring your own cooler and refreshments. It was a great tour, and I highly recommend it!

Stopped by to get a lake permit for my kayak and found everybody to be very helpful and informative. A lot of activity going on with a busy rental business but still some friendly ducks to say hi to. I reserved a pontoon boat for the following weekend and the rates seem to be pretty standard with other areas on the lake.

We booked a sunset cruise on a whim and it was the best experience of our entire visit in Big Bear. Captain Paul was fantastic. He shared many interesting facts about Big Bear Lake and its history. I learned so much and given that we were seated at the back of the boat, we had a great opportunity to talk with Captain Paul and ask additional questions. He even recommended a great Mexican restaurant for dinner. It was such a great evening and we will definitely be back, next time with our kids in tow. Pro tip: if you sit in the front, you may get wet depending on the water conditions. The view is great no matter where you sit.

Super easy booking the boat tour on the website and very easy check-in process. Friendly staff and Captain Paul was amazing, personable, entertaining, and very knowledgeable. Great tour and learned a lot about the history of big bear and the lake. The boat ride was so peaceful and the lake was absolutely gorgeous. The tour was about 90 minutes long and reasonably priced. I can't wait to come back up next time with my daughters for another tour.

Went out on the 11AM tour and was quite pleased! The cost was the most reasonable on the lake at $22 per adult, $15 per child. The boat was smaller than the other two story vessels but offered ample shade and a smooth ride. The captain was kind and informative and toured us around all sites. Had a great time! And would definitely do it again!

Rented a regular (not luxury) pontoon boat for our group of 6 and it was great. Made the reservation online and when we arrived everything went smoothly and we had a great time. Staff was helpful and professional, highly recommend!

Traci, our tour guide was great. This is a smaller vessel which provides a more intimate tour experience.

I understand that as a business you need to make a profit- they don't confirm the tour unless they have 15 people. However, that makes it frustrating as a customer. Our purchase request was for Saturday at noon. However, there was no status update prior to Saturday. I called at 10:20am the day of to see if it was still happening but was told that they wouldn't know until 11am. I then called back again at 11:15am and they still couldn't tell me if the tour was happening. They ended up calling at 11:25am to say it was cancelled (only 5 minutes before their 11:30am check in time). This business model leaves customers waiting literally until the last few minutes which makes it hard for anyone visiting for the weekend to enjoy their time and plan their day accordingly.

Unfortunately, due to a mistake on our end when marking our calendar, we missed our original booking date. We absolutely acknowledged and took full responsibility for the error, and respectfully reached out to Big Bear Zipline to explain the situation and see what options were available to salvage the experience. As shown in the attached screenshots, we approached the situation kindly, respectfully, and understanding that businesses must balance policies with customer service. We shared that we were not asking for a free experience, but simply hoped for some understanding given the circumstances and the significant payment we had already made. Despite our efforts to find a middle ground, the business remained firm, reiterating that although they "have compassion," they would not accommodate further without additional payment. While we respected their right to enforce their policy, the interaction felt very transactional, and sadly did not reflect the spirit of hospitality we had hoped for when planning a meaningful family trip. We received one email when we purchased the tickets two months ago and one phone call 10 minutes before our scheduled reservation. In the end, it may have been a blessing in disguise. We explored other activities around Big Bear that felt incredibly welcoming, fun, and family-oriented -- experiences that created beautiful memories we will cherish for a lifetime. We share this review not out of anger, but to offer honest feedback: mistakes happen, and sometimes, a little flexibility and kindness could leave a much bigger, positive impact on families looking to create lasting memories.
