I really dig this hostel. Plenty of common area spaces including a game room. Large self-catering kitchen and dining area, albeit in the basement, and separate from the dining area you would use if you purchase their breakfast. The 12-bed dorm was spacious, not too crowded, with lockers. Surprisingly decent wi-fi that you can get in the dorm rooms. I've put up with slow wi-fi at Irish hostels, particularly in the evening when everyone is on the internet so this was a pleasant surprise.
The hostel is about a 20-minute walk to the city center, but nearby Lidls, Aldi, Tesco, bars, eateries, etc. You can't enter directly to the dorm rooms since the door is locked. Not a problem as long as someone is at the reception desk to open the door for you. Also a minor inconvenience is that room card keys are deactivated after 10am, so you have to have someone at reception re-activate your access every day. The only real negative was the push button showers in which you couldn't control the water temperature. But I did appreciate the soap dispenser and shelves next to each shower.
Overall, not a bad, inexpensive place to stay if you're in Dublin. read more
