Entrance of fingerprint in Mecklenburg county
    Sofia H.

I had a great experience having my fingerprints taken today. Super satisfied with how I was taken care of. Super quick trip. I was afraid it would take forever, and I worried for no reason. Went through security, waited for short time a very nice lady in pink helped me, I filled out the papers, then waited a couple more minutes and I was helped by two other gentlemen who took my fingerprints. I was in and out in 10 mins

If you're renewing your concealed carry permit, fill out the form, pay and set an appointment online no more than 90 days prior to its expiration date. Print (don't sign) and take the renewal packet with you to your appointment because basically they need to notarize the documents on-site and photocopy your ID. There are a number of release forms to sign for authorization for hospitals and providers to release information regarding physical capacity, mental health, mental capacity or substance abuse to the sheriff. I usually park at the lot on E 4th and Davidson for a dollar.

I've sent the past two months attending the sheriff's office citizens academy. I've learned an amazing amount of information about what their duties are and met the men and women that run our jails, process prisoners, serve papers, provide escorts for funerals and for public figures. It's a very interesting course of study and I highly recommend it to everyone. You can apply on the sheriff's office website.

Awaken again with the shenanigans and noise; I called once more and after 4 minutes I just said c'est la vié .... Hung up. Eventually, they called back. Asked for my info and number, that dispatch has just called me on, but I get it.... It's a form and they've got to due as trained. Anywhoo, here's the 5 piece BECAUSE dispatch was not it. The officers reported out. They cleared the parking lot without ticketing or jailing anyone from what I saw. Two (2) units worked the front while others followed to ensure they left the commercial back lot. This is policing and it didn't require anything negative or ugly. Back in 2018 and 2017, we had good encounters while living Uptown and they taught me there's no 311 to get them out but 911 is more than acceptable when you need their attention to a matter. I hope they get to push ahead with their police village as the city continues to grow they need more officers and more people with Emergency Communication and Services. If 4 million are estimated to be here in a few years then we need up to 10% for staffing all public services.

Do the police get a special dispensation when they park illegally? Should an officer who is not…read moreresponding to an emergency call and has not activated their emergency lights be held to the same standard as the citizens they serve and protect? This evening, I witnessed three CMPD vehicles (two marked, one unmarked) parked illegally in uptown Charlotte. No ticket, no lights, no nothing. A parking area designated as "No parking any time" and yet, no parking ticket. Why do different rules apply to the police when in fact they should be held to a higher standard since they are the ones who should be most familiar with the laws they are enforcing? UPDATE: A Lieutenant from CMPD informed me that all three officers were parked on official police business. [Review 21151 overall - 3515 in North Carolina - 114 of 2024.]

The ImaginOn: The Joe & Joan Martin Center collaboration between the library district and the Children's Theatre is a hands down wonder. While some libraries specialize in library things (games and toys) to engage kids and others specialize in library materials (books and puzzles), ImaginOn has it all ... including plays and story times. The library itself is free to enter, multi-story, newish, clean and easy to get to, with available parking that is free for 90 minutes with a stamped ticket. This facility absolutely had everything to stimulate kids of all ages ... probably 2 to 12 being the sweet spot. Do make a point of finding your way here for a visit someday ... you'll be glad you did. Highly recommended.

There is always some sort of craft, legos, toys and computers for her to play with/use. They also usually have monthly events and a theater. I prefer to download the CMLibrary app to keep up with events. We prefer to come here on the Saturday's but it's definitely more packed. It's about 40ish families at every session. They have a parking garage (under the library) which you can take the elevator directly into the library. They validate for 90 minutes. The issue is when it's full or days they have events parking can really be a pain. They may direct you to park at 7th street parking garage but they only validate after 5pm on weekdays or anytime on weekends.

One of the biggest highlights for me is the self-service postal kiosk (that do-it-yourself machine that weighs your package, calculates the postage, and prints the label right there). It's incredibly easy to use and, best of all, it lets you skip standing in line like cattle. That alone makes this location worth visiting. They also have drive-through mailboxes, which is another huge convenience. You can drop off letters without even getting out of your car--perfect for quick stops when you're on the go. On the occasions when I've needed full-service help--like sending certified mail--the wait hasn't been bad, and the staff has been friendly and helpful. That makes a difference. My one wish: It would be great if they added another self-service option to purchase Forever stamps without having to stand in line. That would make this place just about perfect. Bottom line: Convenient, efficient, and staffed by friendly people. If you're looking for a reliable neighborhood post office with easy parking and modern self-service options, this is a solid choice.

I run a small business and ship all my items with stamps to save shipping costs. Both times all I needed were stamps and both times the employees were so snarky to me for no reason. I asked if they could weigh the envelope and let me know if it was too heavy for one stamp to which the lady behind the counter thought it was a good idea to just bend the envelope completely?? She snarled something about it needing a special stamp. A few people have told me before that because the envelopes aren't completely flat, they would recommend a special stamp, but I haven't run into any issues shipping the way I do. I repeated my original question about the weight and she just handed the envelope back to me without weighing it. So yeah i'm not coming back here again! I just moved to CLT too..talk about a warm welcome.
